  1. Kev, why not use the Corrado brake air ducts from the G60/16valvers? You could easily chop the air duct short and run it up through the cc hole.

Same reason I sold my RX's! So what's next weeks wheel :D
  3. Leave them to the Corsa's and Escorts.
  4. You just have to remember that a fair amount of people have cash like some of us only dream of! £80k is nothing to some people, but a virtually new M3 is very rare. Take care of it and you'll make money on it too.
  5. Your wheels need balancing properly. :D
  6. Sorry to see this Paul, but glad you're mostly ok. It's the third party's fault. Therefore if you want it repaired or written off it's up to you. What value you agreed with your insurance company has no influence at all. It's only if are claiming from your insurance company that the agreed value comes into it.

:D !! I have a seat foam you can have if you need one (no cloth), I bought it intending to use it for my drivers seat, but then found out late and searly seats are different...Didn't want to chuck it but I'm moving house in a couple of weeks, It's mint.

    Early VR's

Early trim on early cars and later trim on later cars, suits them both imo. :D
  9. Been working on the Mk2... PAS Fitted, along with another downpipe which is finally sorted the leaking sound. In my view Bosal exhausts are a complete waste of money. I had a new alternator put in when I broke down on the A303 last month, it lasted all of two weeks until the bearings ran dry... So I decided to fit a MK3 setup with all the PAS gear on it and the ribbed belts( although I already had a Mk2 setup and used a Mk2 rack). So much better and all done for peanuts. The PAS makes the car feel much more nimble, and my better half can now park it! I also fitted a new water pump whilst I was at it, and re-trimmed my headliner in black brushed nylon material, looks great now. Next on the list is to fit the rest of the ernst exhaust system and finally sort out putting speakers in the doors where the pockets are. Also on the Corrado, finished fitting the fusebox, and then started to fit more of the interior back in. Cleaned up the scuttle tray a bit, and fitted a new seal for the debris cover as the old one was leaking, which also meant I had to take out the passenger carpet and sound deadening to dry.....wondering what alarm to fit. I've got an Ai606 but I'd like to try and fit a single fob key, for some reason I hate having a seperate fob/key. I also have to try and track down a TT fan control box, and wire in the headlight adjusters... Pics of the day......
  10. Respect!!! It takes a certain amount of faith in your own skills to paint your own car!! Your works on show warts n'all. Still like me you've learnt on the aircooled where it's almost out of necessity to learn bodywork skills to beat all the rot!! I hope to be doing this to my car over the winter, only I'm not going to do the top coats, instead I'm gong to do all the prep and primers and then take it into a paintshop to get it done in an oven.... By the way, hope I'm not telling you how to suck eggs, but if you use nitromors in the door and bonnet shuts, you can use the curly type (very important) of wire brush to get into the contours, it's so much quicker than sanding it and wrecking loads of sanding pads in the process. What paint are you using?

Best to find a 4 stud Mk3 in a scrap yard and take it all of that, that's what I did anyway. I also used the alternator and ribbed belt setup off the Mk3 as it's much better and all ties in with the PAS tensioner etc. Don't forget the boot and the down shaft too. I's also forgotten just how good the lights can be when they are relayed and have good bulbs. Far better that the BM or Corrado. Not necessarily in terms of light output but a nice even light pattern. Stop it! You're putting naughty thoughts in my head!! I really miss my old 16V Turbo Technics. Really good car. Completely reliable and fast as hell. How about a Mk2 daily then Kev :D
  12. Are you going to post pictures of it when it's done?

Nice choice!!! Looks really good of the sebrings too. Just needs a turbo now!! I wanted a valver in silver, but only found one decent silver Mk2 in a year of looking so gave up and bought a tidy 8v, which isn't the quickest car but it overtakes when i need it to. I've ended up putting PAS onto mine as my wife couldn't park it (on street parking) and I have to say it's made the car feel so much more chuckable and nimble, rather than wrestling it around the corners. The list of things to do to it is gradually getting smaller but it's been a steady trickle of things to do to it but it now feels rock solid and I'm just starting to really enjoy it. I hope you have fun with it. Parts are so much cheaper then for the Corrado!
  14. Looking really good Judith, I take it it's just for sunny day driving now!! Who's is tidier now then, yours or Kips ?!!
  15. It's probably an air lock, squeeze the pipes a bit.

    Re-trim advice

Yeah just a small amount of heat, and pull it slowly to allow the glue to pull apart, or you'll pull off the skin of the door card.
  17. Just read through this thread- one of the most informative and interesting threads about. Although I'm not really a massive turbo fan, I can fully appreciate all the engineering that goes into it, and would love to have a 400bhp Corrado! So often see conversions that are unreliable simply because the 'that'll do' policy has been used, rather than making the best you can. It's good to see your car being developed to make it as good as it can be, and seeing some top engineering as a result. Hat off to you Kev 8)
  18. I drive a Mk2 most days to work and back, but sometimes I drive my better half's 3 series. If I'm in the Mk2, I get waay more people nipping in front of me in the fast lane because they think I might hold them up, that annoys me a bit. So now I just cruise and stay under 4k rpm/80mph. I think that to many people driving is just a necessity and that having good road sence is the least important thing in there life. They think that the slower they go the safer they are, in all circumstances. Actually putting thought into driving isn't an option for them. :brickwall:
  19. dsg with fwd or 4wd? I played with the idea of fwd dsg and getting it to work (my donor vehicle had DSG which makes it easier), but couldn't find an eos box cheap enough to take the gamble! Watching this space 8)
  20. Can't wait to see it with these on 8)
  21. Not if your fan is sucking the air through the rad and the throughput then pushes the manifold air under the car, rather than the hot air just been stagnant around the engine bay.
