  1. Just gave it a quick polish today, and I'm just finishing off doing the sun visors in dark grey alcantara. Still to do- Wire in the alarm and immob, put in second set of lambdas, finish headlight wiring (I've used thicker wires and relayed near fusebox which now has a better supply), centre exhaust hanger, heater panel, paint wheels to get rid of diamond cut finish and get VW roundels (hopefully in blue/white), few more bits of interior trim, fit undertray, cut off tailpipe and replace with plain ss tube, red the rear lights, Aquapel the glass, MOT and tax! Getting close now.... :D
  2. afaik it's only available with an oval tailpipe pal.
  3. I prepped the surface by dousing some cotton wool pads in achohol cleaner (supplied) and wrapping them in a scotchbrite pad, and then scouring a up the surface a little. You then spray on the colour pigment and then the protective sealant layer which is available in matt satin or gloss. Time will tell how long lasting it is, but it'll be prettey easy to touch up.
  4. Thank you for the high praise buddy but I'm sure it's just the pics making things seem better than real, as there are some much better cars on here believe me! Just posted on your thread buddy! The M5's looking awesome, I bet the first thing you do is put the new wheels on it when you get back :) get those up carriers/uprights over here..... Cheers James, the colouring is no harder than using a rattle can, and because the finish is matt it's quite hard not to make it look good. It takes a fair while to put on all the coats though.....
  5. Pete, Happy New Year buddy, that's looking very niiice :D Can't wait to see it for real. How are you going to refurb the calipers? The evo ones are the best brembos to go for with the ceramic pistons. I'd make them siver, but then I might be biased, I think it would look good with a small M badge on them 8) Would be nice to find a transfer you can put on the base coat, then laquer over the top of it for a smooth wipe clean surface. I also have some new piston seals that might fit the fronts which you can have if you like?
  6. Time certainly isn't on my side buddy! During this build I've moved house twice, been graced with two lovely kids, spent 3 months in USA working, changed jobs twice, organised a wedding and got married.....patience has kind of been forced upon me :D Been doing the plastic trims this afternoon. I decided to paint all the bits that are painted on a green/beige storm to make it look more factory (I was going to leather trim it). Unfortunately I can't make the carpet match, dying it doesn't work apparently- as it's nylon and so doesn't absorb the dye. I also can't remember which bits are painted on a beige interior, is the handbrake cover and rear ashtray done anyone? Also what about the bits by your feet in the footwells? Off out tonight for the New Year, the in law's are staying in and looking after the kids until tomorrow afternoon so we're off out partying hard for the first and only time this year, how bad is that!! Hoping to get over to finish putting in the interior bits tomorrow afternoon, but will probably be feeling to hungover to do anything.... My phone takes really bad pics in artificial light, actually in any light (the colours way out)...but you get the idea :)
  7. Thanks guys! should be ready for the spring now, maybe sooner but I'm in no real hurry!
  8. Cheers Timmy, I like them, but I'm not sure I'd do it again though! It's a lot of work to make it look totally original if you're doing a colour change. I haven't done much lately, what with Christmas, being ill and the cold weather, but i have managed to sort out a few bodywork niggles- there were a few scratches under the spoiler, and where the door seal scrapes the sill as you open and shut the door, so I've resprayed these three small areas. The rear spoiler bit was a bit of a pain as I had to get the rear screen taken out. Also put my aero rear wiper back on, cleans up the back of it without having to get rid of the wiper all together. I've also put on the earlier type sill protectors with 'Corrado' written on them- I think they are a bit nicer. :D ETKA Corrado.pdf054.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf056.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7] I've also finished attaching all the new catches etc to my bonnet, which I managed to jam shut, but eventually with help from the wiki managed to get it open again! Bruny, these are the original finishes!! stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdf052.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf050.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7] Also I stuck the BMW rear view mirror on. This has the auto dimming function, and I can use the LED 'clown's nose' with my alarm system. I've still got to go around the base of it with some black screen paint to match the profiles (where it joins to the windscreen), and wire it up which is basic stuff. Corrado92.pdf063.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7] Finally flatted the whole car down with some 2000 grit paper, and polished it back up again with some Farecla G10 and a rotary. passat climatronic wiring diags.pdf019.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7] Right Click key fob, quite good for what you pay, although you'll need a seperate immobilizer system, you can then stick the transponder inside the fob as per an original key. The toad fob is for the Golf.062.jpg[/attachment:1nly66d7]

    ICI or Standox paint?

Standox if you're staying with a regular oe colour. House of Kolor if you're going custom, but note down the mix, you can get lost in the shades/flakes etc!
  10. I've managed to get my bonnet stuck closed whilst adjusting my new bonnet pins to close properly.... I've taken out the grille and pulled the cable outer which released the drivers side pin but the other stays shut. I adjusted the cable to pull so both the levers open fully but it seems it wasn't enough! Anyone got any good ideas?
  11. Good idea for a thread! 1. Kev's turbo thread is a great read as are Bruny's and Butterfly's, but the extra engineering imput of Kev's just tipped it as a better read for me. 2. I suppose you'd have to have been to a show! 3. Herisites, I just like the way it looks and it's got the nice motor!! OSV for the great blend of parts gone onto it producing a top style. Bruny's for plain dedication to perfection and high standards. 4. My mate Jon, who let's me use his workshop when i haven't had a garage and has done some spanner work on my car, cheers fella :salute:
  12. The name may well have been chap, but the owner and designer, Robert Jankel died a few years back. The six wheeler never really took off (obviously!) but he had lots of successes in other fields, His son runs the business now and does so very well. I'm currently doing mine blast protection seating, but will soon be doing a special forces fast attack vehicle which I'm looking forward to. :D
  13. I'm currently working with one of the engineers that had a heafty hand in the design of the Tyrell 6 wheeler. Ironically we're both employed by the only company to have produced a 6 wheel road car- Panther cars, who are now called Jankel. There are a shed load of downsides to having 4 turning wheels and not many advantages, which is why no-one else has bothered!
  14. Hi Pete, the M5 looks like it's receiving some good pampering whilst you're away!! Can't wait to see it in the flesh when you are back. Reading through your previous couple of pages I'm amazed the engine is so reliable with just 4mm of wall between bores, that's mighty thin!! Still makes you wonder what it is between the 3.2, seeing as that block was originally intended for 2.8litres... although obviously they are not in-line like the M5... You should ask the bodyshop to 1500 your headlight lenses and then polish them up when they do the rest of the car, it makes such a difference. I did it on the Mk2 rear lenses and they came up glossy like new. And obviously better for light. For your brakes I'll need an upright assembly (one side is fine) with the disc's on and bearings in, and calipers.

    originality

Most of the VAG stuff from the Corrado era does not use plain yellow passivate, they use a rainbow passivate (more hard wearing), which can look slightly pinky purple in places (like oil in water). I can get you the spec when I go back to work on Monday if you like?
  16. I'll get some pics this weekend pal, if I can open my bonnet again, didn't have them adjusted quite right!
  17. I've got brand new VAG bonnet catch and pins if you need pics of them for reference, although I realise it might be a bit late?
  18. Front seatbelts are either £179 each or obsolete depending on which type you have. Cheaper to go to some custom seatbelt manufacturers.
  19. Very impressive pal, I've been tempted by a plating kit but chickened out thinking I wouldn't get a good result, how wrong I was!! You whole car looks about as close to new Corrado as you'll ever get 8) The only thing I'd say is it might be worth putting new striker pins on, the door shuts better with the plastic bits round the pin, unless there is a way of getting them on that I don't know about!! I bought some new cheapo pins of ebay and threw the washers away as they are really thin, but the pins are good.
  20. Thats the dilema. That's the decision I had to make. In many ways I wish i had just sold mine and bought a non Storm model to modify. Part of me thinks it's like defacing a classic, the other part of me thinks that there are plenty other Storms... I chose to modify it, but I haven't done any non-reversible mods. (it'd take a while to put it back though!)
  21. Your car looks awesome in this pic you've taken. So no possibility of ever going back to a Corrado then?
  22. Best thing to do would be to have a look from inside the car by taking out the rear passengers side trims and looking at the arches from there. You'll need a small torch. Hope it's not too bad :(
  23. As mentioned already i'd look at a 3.2 A3 sportline quattro, very capable car, tiny bit more power than an R32 but with the extra quality of the Audi over the VW. Not quite such a focused car as the R32 though. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
