you'd need a 30mm spacer to get them down to ET35... ;)
-
I take it this is for a G60? If you find somewhere that sells stuff for the Golf GTI 8V (MKII golf) then the dizzy is the same... 8)
-
I bought myself a camshaft & adjustable cam pulley...

nikosg60, that depends on what FPR the chip was written to work with... :| If it was written for a 3bar FRP, then sticking in a 3.5 will simply mess up the fuelling... -
a grand for a head gasket on a 4pot engine?!? WTF?!? Head sets for valvers are about £30, bolts are about the same, coolant will cost about £15, oil about the same... and that's all of the parts you need! At the very worst the head will need a skim, so that's about £150 (on the high end of costs!) and then there's just labour. If the garage can't do the head gasket in a 5 hour labour charge, I wouldn't be going near 'em anyway... :| So you're looking at around £100 on parts, £150 for a skim, and 5x£60 labour = £550 tops... :| Go to another garage mate, they're taking the proverbial! ;)

yup, with Kev here, clean up/replace the earth wires and you'll notice one hell of a difference... 8)
-
riley, yup, pretty much on the ball there mate... 8) You need to get the engine compression tested to check if it's the piston rings or the valve seals which have gone. Odds are that it'll be valve seals though. As Riley says, bits for the KR engine are peanuts... I did a full rebuild (all bearings, seals, rings and head rebuild including seats, guides and seals) for under £500... That basically gives you a completely new engine... 8) It can be done a LOT cheaper too if you don't go quite as overboard on the rebuild as I tend to! ;)

Woah, that sounds WAYYYY too familiar!

yup, with Dinkus on this one... After not claiming for any injuries in an accident a few years ago (was a passenger in a car that was heavily rear ended), I really wish I had as I've since discovered that I damaged my collarbone and shoulder in the accident and it's cost me quite a bit in doctors bills to try and get it sorted out... :| Sorry to hear about your accident though... It's not a nice feeling when someone else does something stupid which damages your car and you had no way to stop it from happening... :|

looks nice... 8) (looks similar to my new one too!)

humm... looks like my post in here is a touch out of date too... :| New car needs: new uprated brakes all around inc. DOT 5.1, brembo fronts, MKIV rears and braded flexies... dash light modding engine and gearbox swapping over from J-DUB spacers making up to fit new wheels over new brakes new suspension bushes new front wishbones possibly new coil-overs... Mild paintwork sorting... Erm, god knows what else, that's kinda all the mechanicals changed again isn't it?!? :| Oh, and then J-DUB needs: New front NS wing New front bumper Rear NS wing repainting New front suspension and subframes New steering components New engine, gearbox, mounts and anything else the new engine requires to get it to fit and work... suppose I'd better work out what engine I'm gonna put in there first though!

If it's anything like the KR 16V, if you have oil inside the dizzy cap, you may find that you need a new dizzy... :| There's 2 seals which can fail, one which allows oil to come in AROUND the central shaft of the dizzy which can be replaced, the other allows oil to come in down the central shaft which requires a new dizzy... :|

http://www.corradoclub.org/ discussed LOTS, so I'll lock this up...
-
I just use my mini blow torch for that kinda thing... 1500 deg C is sure as hell gonna melt the solder!
-
oddly, in Manchester, it's bright sunshine, blue skies with little white fluffy clouds and not all that cold either... Very strange for it not to be raining here... :?
-
you need a REALLY hot soldering iron (25W +) and it helps if you roughen up the "button" a little with some emery cloth to give the solder something to key into... 8)
-
yup, that's true Geo good point about the ECU and relay... 8)
-
jimsG60, it's fun mate! I'm just a bit miffed I don't get to play with my LSD in the snow... :(
-
umm, Suppose they are kinda pinky red... :| Ah, just get some smoked ones... they look great! ;)

Need to top up oil, don't know what's in it... can I mix?

Kev? how do Hella get away with selling Green, Blue, Black, Clear, RED and other colours for the Polos then?
-
could be that the steering column isn't attached to it's mounts properly... You'd need to get under the dash and under all of the covers to check that the bolts are in tight...
-
MikeVR6, so it's a bit like shoving a jack under the door to bend the hinges up a little then? :? (only without the risk of bending the bottom of the door ;) ) Bet that IS scarey to watch when it's your car.... :|

nah, I used to buy a litre of semi and a litre of fully synthetic gearbox oil, mix 'em together and use that in my gearboxes before I discovered (thanks to this place) Redline MTM gear oil... To be fair, there's only a TINY amount of improvement, but it's nice to know that the oil is actually designed to be the way it is... ;) Same thing for engine oils really... I normally try to top up with the same oil I've put in at the last service, but if I find it's a little low and I'm nowhere near a VAG dealer or ECP / GSF branch, then I'll just use a good semi from the nearest garage... 8) -
sounds like the hall sender is failing or has a loose connection to it somewhere... :| Eitherway, it sounds like it's killing the spark completely making the engine stall and then kicking back in again almost immediately afterwards... :|
