as Dazzy says, and it could also be the ignition switch has finally given up... Check for a spark while you're cranking the engine and listen for the fuel pump, then post back with what you find and we'll go from there... 8)

replace the air filter, dizzy cap and rotor arm too... Also check all the vacuum hoses around the engine bay, especially the ones around the airbox area which will cause problems like this... How much fuel was in the tank while it was left standing? It's possible that the fuel's gone off or got water in it and is causing the problems... :| Hope this helps... 8)

Not really mate.... ;) Although, if you can make my debts magically disappear, I'd be more than interested! 8)

Supercharged, ALL Corrados should be filled this way to prevent airlocks if you're filling from completely empty... filling from the expansion tank will fill the block from the bottom of the block rather than pouring the coolant through the block's chambers from the top as it does when you fill from the top hose... You've just been lucky if you've done it that way and not got any air locks... :|

ATF CAN be used in some P/S systems (French stuff use it IIRC) but it will kill a VW steering system's seals after a while as it's much harsher and thicker than the proper VAG PAS green stuff... VAG only has one type of PAS fluid available, so that makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to make sure you get the correct one!

if this is the earth from the wing area which goes up to the bonnet hinge area, then NO, it won't affect your engines running... that strap is only there for earthing the bonnet and ensuring that it doesn't build up any large static charges as you drive along... 8) If you're on about one from the head to the bulkhead, then YES it can effect running...

ah, that'll be why it looks too dark in the photos to spot any other colour in the paint then! Nice... 8)

K-star is the piggy-back ECU for K-Jet cars Tom... As far as I know, you're correct Adam Darby, K-star isn't manufactured anymore... I've seen a few go through on ebay for anything between £30 and £150 depending on how well the advert's been written... ;) Good luck! :)

Looks very nice... I do like that style of wheel on a 'rado, suits it well IMHO... 8) Front looks well mean without being over the top too... 8) What colour is it?

I answered the quick question with a nice quick, simple answer... what more do you want?!?

'Rado It's a long straight road (about 3 miles long!) and the sign for the junction was obscured by the lorry I was overtaking so I didn't know there was a junction there until she pulled up to the give way line and then pulled out... as soon as I saw the car at the junction I hit the brakes to get out of the way, but she just pulled out without looking... Inching out would have been fine, but she just went, no inching involved or needed, it's a junction with nice visibility when you're sat there waiting to pull out from it, just not visible from the main road! The plod car that came was the full on motorway Volvo T5 traffic cop car... he said that this road is nasty for crashes like this, as people can't see the junction when they start to overtake there and the locals just pull out of the junction without looking... :| If I'd have known there was a junction there, I'd have waited the 60 seconds or so until we'd past it and then blatted past the car and lorry instead of going when I did... If the photos have come out OK, you'll see that the skid marks from my rear tyres actually start where the central dotted line was small dots BEFORE the longer warning dots start, and only 10 to 15 yards after the warning sign meaning that the only indication I ever had about the junction was the car appearing at it... :? This is my second accident in 12 years of driving, in which time I've driven more miles as a car delivery driver (part time job a couple of summers while at Uni) than most people drive in 10 years! I'm always VERY careful about overtaking and won't risk it if I'm not 100% sure it's safe to go... this time I was just unlucky that the road layout wasn't as it appeared... :( (my first accident was at 30mph and caused by diesel on a wet corner... The road has now been re-done to remove that corner as there were over 30 accidents on the same corner in the following 3 months, 2 of which resulted in fatalities... :| )

try a different switch too... ;)

Nope, she's claiming I shouldn't have been overtaking there... even though the copper who came to the scene said I wasn't in the wrong... dr_mat, I've protected full no-claims anyway, so it'll just bump up my premium next year a bit, so I'm not that arsed to be honest... ;) The insurance people are saying it'll be a split fault claim with it 80% in my favour, so only 20% my fault... coolrado, nope, it was on the single carriageway A533, just after you get out of Withington... Cheers to everyone else who has commented... 8)

did they steam clean the engine? betcha that wire's either broken/come off the sensor or they cooked the sensor with the steam!

take all the bulbs out of all of the fog lamps, and see if it still blows the fuse... If it does, you have one mother of an annoying wiring fault... if it doesn't, replace each bulb in turn, turning it on and then off again in between to make sure there's power getting to the bulb OK... you should then find where the fault is when the fuse blows again.... 8) ...at least, that's how I'd approach it... 8)

"filter head" ;) 8)

the little center grill is just a blanking cover... there's no speaker (or even space for one) under it...

Oh, no, Jim, she had a perfect clear view, she just didn't look... she was coming out of a junction on the right of the road (as viewed from where I was driving) she looked right, saw it was clear,(hence why I was overtaking! ) pulled out and THEN looked to the left (where she was going) to be confronted by me sliding towards her in a cloud of tyre smoke! (rears had locked due to being almost off the ground 'cos the brembos had bitten so hard! ) I've got a positive attitude to this purely because it could have been SOOOOO much worse so easily... There's no point in being negative when, at the end of the day, the only thing that happened was a few bits of metal got bent... 8)
-
she'd been back on the road for 11 days since the engine re-rebuild... :| I actually think we were VERY lucky... the Brembos did their job VERY well and scrubbed off the 60mph down to sub 20mph before we hit the Golf, there was nothing else on the junction to hit so going down the nearside of the Golf was a viable option to take and somehow (I still have no idea how) I managed to keep my wits about me and aim the car down the nearside of the Golf and avoid a head on collision or side swiping the lorry's trailer wheels all in the space of about 200 yards and 10 seconds or so... :| The only thing that's really p!ssed me off is that no fecker stopped... 2 cars behind me, the car I'd just overtaken, or the lorry I was alongside all just buggered off and didn't even check to see if anyone was injured... Engine and gearbox are still sweet as and have no damage... none of the lights got damaged either! :|

That's gotta go in as a quote of the week!

just wrote the thread HERE I was going to wait for the photos, but I've put the thread up now...

Well, after hitting a MKIII Golf GTI in my Corrado last Thursday night on the way to Liverpool airport, I can safely say that the Corrado wins in a head on fight! :? Driving down a nice long (3mile straight ex-roman) road on the way to Runcorn from Northwich (A533) when we came up behind a lorry and a car doing 40... looked and went for it when a Golf came out of a junction in front of me without looking... 3 options: 1) pull back in - to the side of the lorry... sod that! 2) Hit the golf head on (or as near as damn it as she'd stopped not quite head on to me once she saw me) - that's REALLY gonna hurt 3) Try and get the Corrado down the passenger side of the golf on the grass verge and if needed into some poor sods front garden... the soft option! Well, I went for option 3... and damn near pulled it off... I managed to get the car onto the grass verge and down the opposite side of the golf so that my passenger side hit her passenger side without actually touching the wall or entering the garden, eventually coming to rest across the junction... :? J-DUB's got a rather bent and battered front passenger wing, damaged front suspension and mild paint damage on the passenger side, oh, and one of my Borbet's is well bent... :( (Glad I've got 6 of the buggers! ;) ) You should see the state of the other car though... MKIII Golf GTi's aren't built very well... Both passenger wings, doors and the sill on it just plain crumpled into a mangled mess... I've not had the photos developed yet, but I'll post 'em up here once I get 'em... All parties involved are OK and unhurt, and we managed to get off to the Dam in the morning instead so still ended up having a nice weekend away... 8) J-DUB's looking a bit sad and sorry for herself though... and I'm back in ANOTHER fecking Punto  But she WILL be back on the road, and will be better than before! I'm just waiting for the insurance to sort it all out and then I'll lob in a little more cash and get a full respray while she's getting fixed... ;) :D
