yup, this is EXACTLY what my car did when the ignition switch died... :| Worth taking the connector off the starter motor solenoid and checking that you get 12V on it when you hold the key in the start position... It's a red wire with a black tracer and is on a plug onto the starter motor. If you've got no voltage there, change your switch.... If you've got voltage there, change your starter motor... Guess who's just had to change his starter and has done this test this weekend? ;)

Well, I just bolted my new starter motor on, turned the engine over without plugs in for a minute or two, put the plugs back in... ...and she started first touch of the key! 8) :D :D :D 8) SHE LIVES!!! :) It would have been 8 months this coming Sunday since she died on me, but she's now ready to drive and bed in... By GOD do I feel GOOD! :D I'll get her booked in at my local garage so they can set the timing up properly and give her a fresh MOT (just to make sure! ;) ) and then I'm mobile in a Corrado again! 8) YAY!

I have the dials if you need 'em Andi... :) Early or late? ;) Got both! :)

It's called J B Weld... Also known as Liquid Metal... it's excellent stuff and may actually sort this crack for you if you can get it clean enough and give it enough time to cure... :)

To do a wheel re-furb takes more than a day in most cases... The guy who's just done all 6 of mine said he could do it in about 48 hours for all 6 (until his sandblaster broke! ) It's quite an involved process 'cos you need to blast it back to metal, sand it down, fill any dents/curb damage, smooth that off and re-shape it, then powdercoat it with the basecoat colour and bake it, then laquer and bake it (depending on how many coats of powdercoat you're having, mine had 6, 3 base, 3 laquer) How bad is the dent?

Borbet finished production of the C over a year ago... :( As long as the wheel isn't buckled on any of the spokes (the C's are a sod for it, that's why I've got 6 of 'em!) then it'll refurbish really well... only problem being that you'll probably have to get all 4 done so that they match... :| As Phat says, the guys at the German site are pretty good, although I know that they haven't got any 16" C's in any 4x100 fitments left, they may have a 17" kicking about somewhere... It may also be worth giving Scotford (the official Borbet importers) a call to see if they've got one kicking about in their warehouse... If neither of them pull off, it's a case of keeping an eye on Ebay... :? Good luck! 8)

AFAIK, The rear disks on a VR are identical to those on a G60 except for the extra hole (! ;) ) They hold the bearing exactly the same as the MKII golf...
-
yeah, I know that feeling mate... :| you have my comisserations... I was sent the wrong wheel bolts and then found out my starter motor is totally dead which stopped me starting my engine this weekend... Hope you give the supplier a piece of your mind and get it sorted ASAP... 8)

So what did you do to your C over the bank holiday??
Henny replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in General Car Chat
did shed loads... The car is now finished except for the starter motor which has decided it didn't want to play, and the last few bits which should be arriving this week and then it can go in to get sprayed... 8) Oh, and then cleaned out the interior a bit after my fire extinguisher went off...  -
you MUST declare points to your insurance company as soon as you get them put onto your licence... it says in the small print that if you don't then your insurance is invalid... Even if you know it's not gonna affect the premium, you've still gotta declare them, 'cos driving with invalid insurance is gonna put even more points on your licence and will cost you a damn site more then the phone call to the insurance company! :|

if it's the rack that's covered in fluid, it's most likely to be the rack that's blown a seal, and the pump is squeeling in protest of having been run with no fluid in it... :| The smoke was probably from the fluid hitting the hot exhaust... The only way to tell for definate it to get it to a garage who can have a good look at it to see what's happened.... it could be something as simple as one of the pipes that feeds the rack with pressurised fluid has rusted through, or it could be time for a new rack... :| Good luck... 8)
-
ugh... :| leaking fluid from where? front or back of the engine bay? sounds like your pump's bearings have gone to me...

check and tighten or replace the power steering drive belt...

jack the car up and check for play on the wishbone, and on the strut towards the top (take the wheel off! ;) )could be a dead top mount or wishbone bush... I'd place cash on it being one of these two, or an engine mount (probably gearbox if it's near the passenger footwell...) :|

FurkiG60 The cushion was bought at Malvern (Bug-in / BVF) more years ago than I care to remember after my (now Ex) missus complained about not having enough pillows... Cheapest way I ever found of keeping her quiet... it only cost me a quid! 8) CORRADO4LIFE yup, I was at the Dubsport day, and I met you (briefly)... I was in my Pinky red MKII driver though, as J-DUB was still in bits...

I learnt a valuable lesson today.... It's VERY important to have a fire extinguisher in your car..... ....however, where you keep it is equally important, and keeping it under the rear arm rest isn't as neat an idea as you think it may be...  :| Fortunately it was a powder extinguisher so it just vacuumed up without causing any damage except to my heart rate!

yup, the only thing to add to kvwloon's post is to point out that you need to re-fill with coolant from the top pipe.... IE, take the pipe off the top of the radiator and fill it via this pipe, NOT the expansion tank, until you can see coolant in the pipe (you'll also hear it coming up the pipe) re-connect the top hose, and fill the rest of the way via the expansion tank. Filling it this way should stop any air locks from developing while filling... 8

Robbo's VR6 - Nice & clean, with new footwear...
Henny replied to Robbo149's topic in Members Gallery
Looking really good there, but BOY, does it need dropping a couple of inches! 8) -
16Vs also have a chain between the 2 cams... this hardly ever gets changed and it's a good idea to put a new one in when you do a head re-build... 8)

Lovely looking motor you've got there Munkay, very nice... 8)

I've got a set of Supersport Coilovers on my Corrado which I bought from Venom... I'm very pleased with 'em and have been happy with both the ride quality and comfort they give as well as the handling improvement I've had from them... 8)

Bet they would looking at the shape of where the spokes meet the rim... Probably need a spacer of between 5 and 10mm though... 8)

Does Any one have a Parts picture of the gear linkage
Henny replied to Captaincook's topic in Archive
nah, Nigel, you're wrong.... There's a big weight on top of the linkage which helps smooth out the gear changes... I know what you mean about the reverse light switch though... I just had to replace mine... It's not shown on that diagram though... Mod edit Change name from jim to Nigel.Mods editing mods  edit  Sorry, I was dashing out for a curry so wrote it in a rush... -
Corrado-forum.net Stickers? Good for at least 10BHP, and the coolest mod you can do to your Corrado... ;) 8)

Ah-ha! This old Gem again... :) There are 2 oil pressure switches on the G60 engine, and you've correctly identified them both! 8) The oil temp sender is the smaller one on the filter head at the front of the engine, the other 2 are pressure switches... Replace 'em both, it's a whole lot easier than messing about.... ;) They're not expensive (it'll cost you around £10 for BOTH senders!) They look identical apart from the colour... you'll need one blue one (on the side of the head) and one black on (on the oil filter head). They simply unscrew and then the new one just screws straight back in... 8) Make sure you've not run your engine in a couple of hours, as you will spill a VERY small amount of oil, but it's enough that it'll give you a nasty burn if it's still hot.... :|
