  1. Nice... 8) I'm a big fan of OZ wheels... I think I'd get a set similar if I didn't have my Borbet C collection.... ;) :)
  2. Ive got a set of MKIII Golf alloy bonnet lifters which I'm planning on fitting to my Corrado in the morning... Problem being I have no idea where they are supposed to attach to. Has anyone got any pictures of a Corrado with the later __---__ bonnet fitted with these lifters so I can work out where they are supposed to attach to? Cheers! 8)
  3. Let's just clear this up a bit.... you have main 3 settings on your headlamps... 1) Side lights - 1st click on the main headlamp switch. This will turn on the sidelights even without the key in the ignition 2) Headlamps (dipped beam) - this is the second click on the headlamp switch, and isn't the one where the blue lamp comes on in the dashboard - This will only work when the ignition is switched on. 3) Main/Full Beam - this setting will only stay on when your headlamps are on dipped beam and then you pull the indicator stalk towards you... if the headlamps are not on, then it will flash the Main beam until you let go of the stalk. This is the setting where your blue warning lamp will light on the dash board.... Which parts of this list aren't working on your car Trilidon?

    Coolant types

the guy was talking cr@p... There were 3 types of coolant... G11 - Thick dark green/blue goop G12 - Thick pink goop which cannot be mixed with G11 else it makes a jelly like substance which will block up the waterways G12+ - not quite as thick pink goop... G12+ is the replacement for BOTH G11 and G12... It can safely be mixed with either, so no problems with jelly anymore, it's also less acidic than G11 which was found to attack the metal water pipes after a while, hence why it was replaced... :? The guy at the dealer is probably trying to get rid of his old stock of G11 as no bugger wants it anymore 'cos G12+ is better... :| *edited to add in the blue bit for G11... it's a while since I'd seen any, OK?!? *
  5. It's in case I go out on the town with work and have to kip on my office floor! ;) Rear view mirror kept falling off... it's currently in the passenger side door pocket and has been replaced by a camera and TV head unit... ;)

    Retro fitting ABS

    AND rear bushes... :?
  7. yeah, I've read the sig, but that's not what you're gonna end up with... I know this thru experience... more will come! ;)
  8. Custom door pods came with the leather interior... they were made to fit a set of Infinity component speakers... just so happened that I've got the JBL versions of the infinity speakers so they fitted straight in... 8) I'm yet to re-locate the tweeters, and I'm unsure whether to do so or not... I'll have a play and see where I prefer them to be located, Dash or speaker pod... 8) Yeah, there's been a few teething problems with this build, but when you're attacking as much of a car in one hit as I've tried to do when it's got 236K miles on it, you expect the occasional hic-cup! ;) It's sooooo close now though.... there's not a lot left that can go wrong! ;) 8)
  9. Rears I take it? C&R enterprises do them... HERE
  10. I've gone from a MKI 16V to a Corrado 16V and then via a series of other cars (MKII 8V included) to my current G60 Corrado... I can honestly say, for shear enjoyment and rawness, the MKI 16V kills anything I've driven since.... However, the Corrado G60 is the most refined, fun, fast car I've driven (to own!) it's on a par with a standard MKI GTI handling wise... and, although you can feel the extra weight thru the corners, it more than makes up for it by it's sure footed-ness and power delivery... 8) I've still got my MKI 16V and when my G60 Corrado's engine expired, I chose to rebuild the Corrado over the MKI.... 8) The MKI will be rebuilt as a summer toy, but never to be used as a daily driver... ;)

    Retro fitting ABS

Bugger, does that mean that the heat shields I just removed ('cos they were in the way of the Brembo conversion! ;) ) were actually needed for the ABS?!?
  12. Cool! Glad to hear the 8V is out now with minimal hassles... 8) Can't wait to see what you're gonna do with this VR you're installing... 8)
  13. I've just done it by hand so far... No P/S belt on, top up the fluid to the max, and then sit and turn the pulley by hand for a few minutes.. then lock her over side to side, and turn it some more... ..seems to have worked so far... Guess I'll find out when I try and start her when I get a starter motor that works...
  14. Well, I said before I'd post a pic of my new engine when it was completed... Here's one... 8) Only bits missing from this pic are the wiring for the fan (now completed) and a starter motor which works...
  15. HELP! I think I may have created something EVIL... I swear it wants to get me! ;) 8) This weekend's pictures of the sooo nearly completed car... Still not running due to a dead starter motor  and MWS sending me the wrong wheel bolts  (front wheels are currently held on with 2 locking wheel bolts each, and that's it! ) All fluids are in, all bolts are tight, all systems are go (apart from the starter motor!) The only things to add when they arrive are the sunvisors, new slam panel (mine's bent and rusting...) and TrakM8 system.... oh, and the new starter motor I'll buy on Tuesday...
  16. Right, I've had to take the power steering pump out of my car while I did my rebuild, so obviously it's dropped it's fluid (into a neatly placed container of course! ;) ) What's the correct way of re-filling the system, as I know I don't want to run it dry and knacker the pump and the rack??? Anyone know?
  17. yup, the throttle to ECU small bore vacuum pipe should be exactly 1m long according to VW... If you take much off it, your engine will run like a dog... :?

Welcome to the Forum... 8) Nice looking car you've got there... The colour really suits it well... 8)
  19. I got mine from Eurocarparts for a reasonable amount.... IIRC GPC also do 'em at a pretty good price too... 8)

    OIL HELP!!!

you should be able to get the gearbox plug spanner from Halfords (that's where I just got mine from anyway! ;) ) Gear oil normally doesn't fit your description of the stuff that's been leaked... it's evil smelling stuff normally.... what you've described does sound very much like hydraulic fluid from the clutch slave cylinder... :|
  21. yeah, just speaker wires matey... 8) See attached... ;)
  22. What colours are the wires? Lemme know, and I'll tell you what they are for.... 8)

    OIL HELP!!!

yeah, brake and clutch hydraulic systems share the same reservoir...
  24. Nah mate, you've got your wires well crossed there! AC = Alternating Current as opposed to the DC (direct current) that the car's electrical system works on from the battery! ;) AC is nothing to do with Air Conditioning in this case, so don't worry, you can still stay cool and have your cool lighting too! ;) 8) All that that convertor does is make the standard car's + and - electrical supply into a nice wave form ~ style current to power the new dials... :) It's really easy to wire in, and won't affect any other parts of your car... 8) Go for it! 8)
  25. G60's and IIRC 16Vs (and probably all 4 cylinder C's ;) ) suffer from the flange on the SIDE of the head leaking as well as the one on the front... Both are a sod for cracking when re-fitted, so budget for a new flange as well as the O ring when you replace them! 8) On a G60 there are 2 metal water pipes... one goes from between the pump and the bottom Rad hose, the other runs around the gearbox end of the engine.... Both are prone to rusting through and causing leaks... :| The gearbox one is actually the cheap one, with the bottom rad one being more expensive, even though it's a single pipe with no T pieces in! (£18.45 for the gearbox one, £44.93 for the rad one... :| ) Another common leak point is the the oil cooler... This is a real sod when it goes as it can be a pain to spot where it's leaking from, and if you're really unlucky (like I was with one of my Golfs) then it goes between the oil and water jackets causing a coffee coloured foam emulsion to appear in your water system making you think the head gasket's gone....
