..and I bet you've done a few more since then! 8) I was doing until she threw a temper tantrum and spat all her water onto the road.... Turns out that my nice new expansion tank had a crack in it... Old one is now in place and all is well... Oh, and I can now hand on heart recommend Gav's wiring loom, the lupo wiper conversion (both front and rear! ;) ) the moonroof conversion, the brembo brakes, a Quaife LSD and a VR6 2nd gear in a G60 box... :D  8) The Cheshire cat has nothing on my grin today.... :D

yup, double sided sticky number plate tape here too... 8)

wow! this is freaky timing! Have a look at the FIRE thread that I linked to above for the head removal... I've just posted a diagram there on how to time up an engine! 8)

There's 2 places to spot TDC. On the crankshaft pulley which drives the supercharger belt, there's a mark which should point straight up to a marker on the cambelt cover to mark TDC. And there's a mark on the flywheel which you can see (although this one often gets rusted over so you can't really make it out!) through the gearbox inspection panel... Once you've got it to this location, check that the rotor arm is pointing to about where the lead for 1 would be and that's TDC on 1 8) Another quick check is to make sure that on the cam's sprocket, the 2 dots are either side of the join between the head and the cam cover at the front of the engine... this will prove you are at TDC. 8) This document may come in usefull for you too... 8)

how many miles a year do you do? I was putting about 18K per year onto my G60 and it took it well considering it's got 236K on the clock! :? Insurance is gonna hurt you a little more than the Golf, but shop around and you may get yourself a deal... there's plenty of people here who are around the same age as you and run G60s... 8) As long as you keep on top of the servicing and make sure your supercharger is in good condition before you start messing with it, then they're as reliable as most 10 year old cars... 8)

That's the bit that the radiator sits on... the front part of it sits in neatly behind the bumper and provides some support for the lower (chin) spoiler... it rots like a Lada!...
-
nice pride of place for the hammer there! ;) Looking good! 8)

yup, most regulars do... ;)

The red light on the dash board with a can symbol under it?!? That's the OIL PRESSURE warning!!! There is no low petrol warning lamp on a Corrado! Check your oil level ASAP to make sure you've got enough oil in there! :?

I'm fairly certain that's an early Cobra alarms fob... OK, I was wrong about that bit... Serpi star ARE a seperate company... try HERE for a spare fob... 8) Sounds like someone's installed a CAT2 afterwards and left the original (non-factory) alarm on as well to do the central locking and the like... Probably doesn't come upto full CAT1 standards, but as long as the CAT2 bit works OK and you've got proof of installation, the insurance company will be happy... 8)

Looks nice.. 8) Enjoy! :D

No VAT is added if it comes from within the EU though...

head studs are genuine VAG 1H studs... I figure that they're already somewhat uprated from the PG ones so there's not a lot of point trying to uprate them! ;)

J-DUB just breezed thru an MOT this morning... after only 1.4 miles of driving too! ;)
-
DEFINATELY not me then... :(
-
...hmmmm, wonder if I can hook up my mobile to my laptop and stick it through my TV system?!? Mobile Forum time... :D   Cheers guys! 8)
-
Well, J-DUB just sailed through an MOT and is now taxed, insured and road legal... Let the good times roll! :D 8) My garden looks really odd now 'cos there's no Corrado sat in it! :? Just gotta tweak the idle (it's a bit too low for my liking) and put 1500 miles on her, then I can fit the red tops, SNS and 3.5FRP and get her rollin' roaded... 8)

oops, I forgot to add the head bolts pic...

I'm running 9mm spacers on my front wheels to get 'em to clear the Brembo brake conversion... At the moment I've got universal spacers on which are OK, but I'm gonna get my mate to make up a set which have a spiggot ring built in and are designed to fit onto the hub properly so that I don't have all the hassles with getting the wheel on and so I KNOW that it's balanced up properly and the wheel is sitting properly too... 8) Spacers are OK as long as you take into account that you have to get longer bolts too! ;) Just don't go mad with 'em and you'll be OK... 8)

  that scores highly on the inventiveness scale! 8)

Dot 5.1 is available from most good car parts places, including Halfords... 8) A litre bottle should flush the entire system with ease, and don't forget to bleed the clutch through too as it uses the same fluid and probably hasn't been done in the best part of 10 years!

You wrapped a bit of string around it?!?

rally car engines get rebuilt after each rally (or just plain junked!) so they don't really give a damn about the filtering that much 'cos they need the airflow more than the filtering capabilities, which foam filters can give... Unless you fancy re-building your engine as often as a rally cars, I would recommend keeping away from Foam filters... Even Jabba put a clause in their warantee stating that if you're running a foam filter, your warantee is null and void! :? Who said anything about K&N induction kits ?? I'm running a modded airbox with a K&N panel filter in there and it was nice and quiet, but with a hint of menace before I rebuilt my engine and put the toothed belt conversion on it... now it just sounds evil! ;)
-
it WAS going ahead... I received my kit earlier this week... 8) PM John and ask if he's got any more for the same price... you won't know unless you ask... 8)

that looks like a siezed bearing caused that to me... :| :( I hope you find a replacement with as little hassle and cost as possible... :? As Kongo says, keep an eye on Ebay, there's a bloke on there with some BRAND new ones which look spot on... Kongo's got one on his now, and it seems excellent... 8)
