I'll measure them tonight (one on the downpipe, one on the cat) as both the original cat and downpipe are sat on my garage floor! ;) :D
-
yeah, go on then. I'll have a shield kit... I'd be a bit dumb to spend all this money on my car and then not invest in keeping it looking good once it's finished! ;) Thanks for the PM too... 8)

Kazzaaaammm!!! There, see what it's like on Saturday now... ;)

Yeah could be the switch but you don't have to remove either the seat of the wheel to replace it!! It is A LOT easier and more comfortable if you do take the seat out though... Instructions on how to change the switch are HERE

on the throttle body, one of the pipes goes to the ECU, the other goes to the carbon cannister. Also, the pipe that feeds the brake servo has a valve in it. This valve has 2 take off points, one should be blanked, the other should have a black plastic pipe on it which goes to the clocks. on the end of this, there's also another pipe which goes to the Carbon cannister IIRC... I'll check it tonight, but I may not be able to post due to lack of home phone/adsl 'cos of the Manchester BT fire.... :?

what's the difference between the 4 waxs? I'll be up for a kit, but I'd like to know what I'm going for (and why! ;) ) first... 8)
-
yeah, I'll be up for a couple too.... 8)

One uses a hook to hang the exhaust components, one uses a straight bar. As far as I know, that's the only difference on the G60s, but your exhaust system will be slightly different anyway 'cos you haven't got a cat in there... IIRC you can fit a cat bypass pipe (as daft as it sounds!) then a G60 system with the same style hangers as your car will fit straight on. 8)

You're best of phoning 'em... they've been a bit pants on replying to their email whenever I've tried, so I've given up on that method with them as they're rather good on telephone orders... 8) Oh, and at that price, I'd get a spare while you're at it if I were you! ;)

Sorry, typo... it was an E I got a quote on 'cos that's what's highlighted on the screen grab...

For a giggle I just phoned Smith Knight Fay (VW dealer in Stockport) That part (535 419 503E) is £537.49!  :|

Scotford still have brand new ones in stock for about £3 each... I just bought 7 for my Borbet Cs... :D

I added in some reasoning but you beat me to it with your reply! :)

your water level is very slightly too low... 8) When you started your car, the sensor detected it was low and put on the warning lamp. When you turned the car off, and then back on again after it had been driven, the sensor was now covered again due to the water expanding due to heat... I'll bet that it'll do it again next time the car is cold, but not the time after once it's warm again... ;)

once you've fitted the mocal, you'll probably never get the temps to hit 110 anymore.... 8) It is quite a small radiator, but it's pretty efficient... 8)

front bumper removal is dead easy. Remove all of the small bolts from around the lower spoiler. On either side under the front of the car there is a set of 3 bolts, 2x17mm head, 1x 13mm head. DO NOT UNDO THE 13mm headed bolt! undo the 2x 17mm bolts each side, and the bumper will then slide forwards and come off. You may have to unhook the inner wheel liner from the bumper as it hooks inside it, and don't pull the bumper off too fast as there is wiring behind it for the indicators and foglamps that you'll need to unplug as the bumper is pulled forwards. 8)

you get a low compression 2.0 16v?!? :-P Dunno mate, you'd have to have a word with someone who's done it, or an engine builder who has experience with these blocks... Aposegil may also be worth having a word with as he's messed about with one in a big way and had it ready to turbo/supercharge... 8)

soooooooo glad I got you to rebuild mine while it was off Darren... Having that happen was my worst nightmare, which has since gone away... 8)

'cos a G60 doesn't need a bigger one... If you think that your water temps are too high, dump the oil cooler and put in a nice Mocal one instead... That'll sort out your water temps, and if that doesn't drop 'em low enough, dump the original fan and get an aftermarket slimline one which have a higher flow rate and so should cool the rad better... 8)

G-Man (Darren from G-Werks) offers a set of 83mm pistons which, by all accounts, are very good and gives a capacity increase of just under 1900 (1878 I think? I'll probably be corrected in just a mo! ;) ) you just need to get your block re-bored and then put in new bearings etc... I went for a 1940cc setup from 16VG60 (JMRacing - John Mitchell) which uses a different crank and 83mm pistons to get the extra CCs... 8) I sent my block to John, and then got a complete balanced, lightened 1940cc block back a bit later on.... 8) It would have been based around my original PG block, but that was found to have become damaged due to it's 250K miles so I've now got a 1H block (out of a Golf Rallye G60) 2.0 on a standard block NEEDS a different crank if you want to use the PG block. If you try and do it with the original crank, you're looking at 85.9mm pistons which will leave so little metal between the cylinders that you'll probably end up with either porus walls or cracks between 2 and 3... :? The block also needs some machining doing as otherwise the oil injectors (which spray oil onto the bottom of the crowns of the pistons to keep 'em cool) catch on the crank and make a bit of a mess... There are people who offer a 2.0 block complete (TSR for example) which is based around a long stroke block for comparitively not a lot of money, however, IMO these blocks are not suited to the character of the G60 engine with a stoke length more suited to a diesel engine causing a slightly strange revving characteristic... shaking2: Stealth used to offer a 2liter conversion based around the standard PG block which is reported to be VERY good (and knowing the work that the guys do there, I can well believe it! ;) ) but it's not cheap... Hope this helps... 8)

yup, just sprayed my rocker cover and it looked distinctly purple until I laquered it... If you're unsure, put a bit of the paint onto some waste metal, leave it to dry and then laquer it and compare it with your car's colour to check for a good match... If it doesn't take the paint back and start shouting! ;) My car goes REALLY purple when in direct sunlight, she looks stunning and is pretty much the main reason I wanted a car in this colour... 8)

Now THAT's a PROPER roll cage... 8)
