The oil pipes and new fan arrived today... Time to get the engine running tonight methinks... :D
-
Dunno about the beige one, I just bought the black leather one... Also got a grey handbrake surround (the bit that goes over the lever first) and a couple of screw covers in grey too.... The interior looks great now... Will be even better this weekend with the leather in there too! 8)

Waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too much time! ;) 8)

'lo Alex... Glad to hear you're gonna be around here a bit more often again... 8)

I'm sure that the genuine VAG one isn't much more than £25! I know that the genuine leather handbrake is only £25 'cos I just bought one... 8)

I really should get around to reading the manual at some point...

the auto up/down is nothing to do with the switch, it's the control module that sits behind the rear driver's side trim (would be door card, but it's not a door... you know what I mean?!?) The auto down should work on BOTH doors (in fact, if you do the driver's on and then tap the passenger one while it's still auto going down, the passenger one will automatically drop when the driver's has finished! 8) ) The auto up is, AFAIK, only fitted to the driver's window on Corrados... If you're sure it's not working, I have no idea why if the auto down is working... :?

Have a word with TopMarques in Stoke on Trent... I'd say that he can almost certainly make those look like new... 8) One of my Borbet C's was pretty badly curbed, with chunks out of the rim and everything, and that's come up so well, you can't tell which one it is! 8) He normally charges £45 per wheel + £4 for fitting, valves and balancing, but for that, he'll sand blast 'em back to metal, repair any damage and then powder coat 'em twice in the colour of your choice and then twice with Laquer! Proper job! :D He's the only person that I've had recommended by nearly every garage around here... 8)

MKIII Golf Diesels also have these snorkles... ;) 8) There's one sat in our carpark at the moment which may have one missing by the time the owner goes home tonight... ;)

Is it still leaking now that the oil level is about right again? If it's not I wouldn't worry about it too much as engines tend to loose a little more oil than normal when overfilled... Basically, when overfilled, it'll find any way out it can until it's back to it's normal level... If it's still using oil now that it's back the the correct kinda level jack the car up and have a look around the engine to see if you can see anything obvious, if not, then you're passing oil into the cylinders via the either the head (gasket or valve stem seals) or the piston rings... :?

drain some out and fix the leak?

I've just changed my mind... forget having an empty seat... ...I'll just take the seat out and put in a HUGE bottle of nitrous! ;)

"Never drive your car on 1st gear over 5000 turnover&qu
Henny replied to VW Corrado 16V's topic in Archive
I've never heard that before.... :? I used to rev my 1.8 16V to the red line in every gear when I was going for it! ;) Never had a problem with it... As long as you let the car warm up properly so the oil's nice and warm before you start taking it up high on the rev counter, you should be fine... 8) -
yup, that sounds about right for how mine works... 8)
-
..or you can pay about £4 each from VW... :?

Good luck matey! Sounds like you've got a hell of a lot of work to do in the next few weeks... 8)

Yup, I'm an insomnia sufferer... :? Sometimes I just can't sleep... other times I just can't wake up! ;)

When I bought mine in December they were £468 all in Inc. delivery... 8) They're a doddle to fit too... 8) Do make sure that they will fit inside your wheels though! I've had to use an 8mm spacer to get my 16x7.5 Borbet C alloys to clear the calipers... :| If you know someone who has a set of these fitted, ask them nicely if you can try one of your wheels on their car so that you'll know it'll fit properly... 16VG60 did this for me when I went to pick my block up from him, so I knew they'd fit, but it was still a bit scarey seeing them on for the first time... there's not a lot of clearance with a 16" wheel!

If I hear from any of the people I asked about VR gearboxes when I was looking, I'll let you know... 8)

Which only takes a couple of minutes to do, and you only need to take off about 5 or 6mm 8) (I'd forgotten about this until I test fitted mine today! )

Sorry, my bad, it was a typo... should have been 180BHP and around 320lbft...
-
Dunno about cheapest, but for sheer ease, I got mine from Badger5... came with everything you need all in one nice big box... 8)

Photo was taken 31/05/2003 at 13:59 at Mow Cop Castle, just outside Congleton... 8) You're not the only one who thinks I'm nuts... I do too! ;) If I'd have known how long this would drag on for, and how much I was gonna throw at it both in time and money, then I probably would have got rid and bought a new one.... But I got to that stage where I just though "sod it, I've started so I'll finish!" 8)
