G60 X-flow - Anyone completed one of these yet ?
Henny replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Engine Bay
GazzaG60, I don't live that far away from you, so I know what you mean about the state of the roads! However, with the addition of an LSD the 250ish BHP that my engine's kicking out is pretty managable... especially so when I had the suspension set up properly in J-DUB... 8) Power is NOTHING without control (there's an advert in there, I'm sure! ) If you've not got your suspension setup properly and haven't sorted out your transmission (LSD etc) you'll struggle to get over 200bhp onto the tarmac... :| however if you've got it all set up properly, who knows what the top BHP you can use is? 8) -
yup. On a KR it's done by the warm up regulator bolted onto the right side of the head (as you look at it from the front of the car) Big block with 2 pipes and a blue (IIRC) wiring connector on it
-
it's back up... there was a cock up with the bank not paying the host company... All sorted now... 8)

yeah, that's the one Kev... Couldn't remember if if was Ian or Jim... Apparently it was the oil vapour within the block that caught fire and exploded taking the block with it... :| It was in The Golf a couple of years ago... funniest bit was when the recovery truck came to pick him up, he just got back in it, flicked a couple of switches and levers and drove it back using just the front engine!
-
nope I'm on about a small switch which is on the throttle body which is pressed when on idle...
-
it's the black square one which stops the headlights working when it breaks... ;)
-
chipsaway Yandards?
-
Yandards, ow... :|
-
yes there is a relay... no I don't know which one...
-
no idea mate... not seen one of those before on any of the 4 KR engines I've had... :|
-
check your idle switch on the throttle body... sounds to me like it's either broken or is disconnected... ;)
-
Glad that it's now sorted out for you... 8)

Is it legal to mix directional and non-directional tyres?
Henny replied to aclwalker's topic in Drivetrain
yup, as Musicman, says, the law only says that you can't mix radial and Cross plys on the same axle... you can have a pair of crossply tyres on the front and radials on the rear, but not across the car... Directional and non-directional don't really matter if it's a spare... as long as they're all radial and the same size... 8) -
Didn't Jim Cotton (Awesome GTI) blow up his Twin VR6 turbo golf's rear engine while trying to get it over 200mph? Only major difference was Jim had a fire extinguisher system built into his car which saved it! 8) Wonder if the guy in the drivers seat of that Golf got out OK? :| Phil? That's a CITI Golf as it's filmed in South Africa, they only did them in the 5 door flavour... ;)

Fez, The two at the driver side front strut tower: There are 2 hoses attached, one leading to the fuel rail, the other coming from the bottom connector on the FPR. Then there's a 3rd fuel hose at the right hand side of the engine block (when standing in front of your Rado, i.e. on the gearbox side), that comes from the fuel rail and leads to a pressure switch which in turn is attached to the throttle body. I got my braided hoses from Demon Tweeks according to my paper work, probably way to expensive compared to GSF, so try them first, I'd say ;-) Tempest ;) -
Haynes didn't do a Corrado manual 'cos they only imported 9000(ish) corrados into the UK, so it wasn't economical for them to do one... :( The Bentley is the best manual available for the Corrado, but it is, as you say, expensive... MKII or MKIII Golf and Passat 88-92 manuals have about all the info in 'em you'll need for a Corrado, but the wiring diagrams aren't all there unless you get the Bentley one... :|

you shouldn't ever be able to smell petrol from inside the car... next time you start it from cold, open the bonnet and check around the pipes just as you turn on the ignition. This will be when it leaks as the fuel pump pressurises the system for the first time... -
Why? 'cos it's got a shit load of pipes that mess up your engine bay and can leak causing the engine to run like crap... it does nothing after 10years + of use... and finally, yeah, 'cos it gives you a nice big hole to use as a cold air feed route... ;)

I've had my tank breather in the air box on my G60 with no bad effects for over 2 years now... 8)
-
via a valve which stops the tank getting pressurised with boost or getting affected by the vacuum the engine produces, yes... ;)
