  1. Please help me.... I have made the hole larger to accommodate the pipework from charger down through the carbon canister location which would have the TT 4 inch Maf which reads flow in both directions, then the large air filter which would sit in the front bumper /driver side. Speaking to Vince just now he told me that I need to get the MAF away from the charger otherwise I will have problems. So now what do I do? Extend the MAF wiring and use the TT maf still but I don't think there's any space for the large filter which obviously is sized for the larger MAF. Or do I know need to use my standard existing 3 inch maf so it can work with a smaller filter if there's space? I was always concerned about my first approach to the front bumper location in case a puddle splashed into filter/maf anyway. Any help from you guys much appreciated. Rams
  2. It's come up really well, satisfying work when you stand back and see the difference. Top work
  3. Hey Craig, its hasn't all been straight forward, the alignment of the pulleys were an issue. I recall Bobby saying when he had his fitted he had issues with it rubbing/making a noise. Chubb spent ages and in the end we shaved down this spacer part and its now perfect. It's all quite tight still but clearing everything. The head needs a bit more nibbled off. So yes, running sp263 cams, c30 94 charger, 90mm pulley installed and will take the 80mm one with me in case we can use it at mapping stage. I don't want it too boost too much at this stage. We turned the charger pulley by hand and I think for every pulley rotation, the charger spins 8 times. All the other parts that have been replaced went in smoothly, a bit of searching to do with the arp head and rod torques but found them in the end. The question is, ' will she run? ' I'm wondering how much it would cost to trailer the car down there? I've been past your place a few times going to Chubbs and seen you car was out, how is she doing? Enjoying the decat?
  4. Cheers chaps, today was a good day, it's not finished but really taking shape. We had to do some adjustments and must have fitted/removed charger 5 times and it still has to come off again. Swapped over to the 90mm pulley, sump and oil pump replaced along with new stainless bolts. Fuel rail / injectors and part of inlet fitted. Hole enlarged for charger pipework where the cc used to live. Boot install removed to get to fuel pump. New Lamba arrived today, just needs screwed in. New spark plugs fitted. Head shaved to allow for charger figment. Quite a few adjustments needed with the alignment of the pulleys. We cut a piece out of the tensioner housing so it doesn't foul the charger in anyway. All nicely one and smooth. Tyre bead re sealed. Manifold gasket replaced and throttle body gasket replaced. Here's a few pictures from today. Another mechanic friend popped over to see progress. So it's going to be next week now, I suspect Wednesday or Thursday as were both busy till then. I was quite excited today!
  5. The belt part number is 6DPK 1825, I do have one spare if you get stuck? Some progress from today, Mocal oil cooler fitted, Rotrex oil cooler fitted, needed to replace the oil cooler hoses on the Mocal for different lengths and ends to get the install nice and neat. Also so the pipes weren't under tension on the oil cooler. ARP head and rod bolts fitted and torqued up. New fuel filter and oil filter installed. 6 Branch exhaust manifold and dub sport de-cat pipe fitted. Stainless bolt kit arrived from Swampy today so being fitted tomorrow. Happy days. We removed the sump today for replacement and to replace the rod bolts and a little while ago I smashed the sump on a big dip in the road and when we replaced the sump the following day after the incident I did notice the oil pump had some slight damage but just looked a tiny bit dented. On today's inspection, the actual pump housing had a crack all the way round so new oil pump coming tomorrow express order from TPS for the morning. I feel happier now anyway as its going to be replaced with new as its probably the original. New sump, sump nut/washer and gasket can then be fitted. We couldn't get the lamba sensor out of my original decat but then I realised whilst ordering the new one with TPS that I actually needed an OBD2 Lamba and I have always run the obd1 original Lamba sensor so I hope this is a good thing and that I won't have any problems using the obd2. He said the ABV one is no longer available and the obd2 /late golf VR is 7-10 days back order from Germany. So I have the part number to my mechanic and he's ordered a new Bosch one which was half the price quoted by TPS. Then the car should be back on all 4 wheels. Tomorrow will be removing boot mdf floor and replacing the fuel pump/sender with the uprated cossie pump. Maf wiring needs extended, hole made larger for pipework that currently houses the carbon canister, all the Samco hoses need fitting and thermostat and new housing. On inspection today my existing thermostats housing didn't leak but it actually had a crack around where the bolt secure it so someone in the past must have over tightened. Picking up vibratecnics front mount in the morning and will try that and see what it's like. Thinking my standard mount might not be man enough when its charged. I might, just might hear the car run tomorrow? I just hope it's drivable till I get to Vince. I said I would call him once its done and just hopefully he's got time soon enough to map it. Ignore the rusty fan cowling please as I didn't get round to this when I had all the other bits powder coated at the beginning. When the engine comes out again I will get the bay painted and everything smartened up as it does let the car down. Oh yeah, need to fit the new loom from Kurzy, looks very tidy and has my connectors all ready Installed for headlights. Can then replace the bonnet cable trumpet so I can tuck the cable into where it should be as it overhangs a bit. Will also be removing earth connections and giving them a good old clean and wire brush whilst were there. Some pics from today and will get some more posted tomorrow. Roll on tomorrow
  6. Quick update, the car has moved to the ramp area and the head is on and torqued up with the new ARP's. It's got to be finished by next week as the mechanic will need the ramp. So sump and rod bolts to replace, exhaust to deal with and fuel pump/sender to install. Then it's all the charger work and associated bits in the engine bay. When ever we do work on the car, usually I'm there helping out but struggling to find time at present but I'm always the one that starts her up with a brief chat to the people above before the key is turned followed by dancing around like a drugged night clubber. Will be carrying on with the wheels today and I've decided to go Falken 215 35 17 as the conti's are not in stock. Really looking forward to more boring hours of wax on/wax off. 7. Yeah that's ok. As you say, the sump is supported and front mount is there. Someone one else will confirm I'm sure
  8. Cool, got it. I now remember him doing that with the cam itself when he did the chain replacement. Thanks once again
  9. Thanks chaps! When I asked him he said it was fine but he was busy working on another car so I didn't hang around. Feel better now for asking and how will the cams be rotated? Is that by turning engine on the crank pulley or is that adjusted on the cams itself? Cheers
  10. Went over today to check progress and the head was re fitted and torqued. My same mechanic who replaced the timing chains a little while ago is doing the work at present and I noticed the lobes were not straight. Should they be like this? I never had problems when he replace the chains and tensioners before and the car ran as it should but this time I just wanted to double check. Anything to put my mind at rest would be great Cheers Rams
  11. Thanks chaps, it's nice to reminiss about the good times. Each time I see the car and drop a new bit off or work on the wheels and drive home in my van, I think it will all be worth it. Re the oil cooler for the Rotrex itself and the pulley, http://www.ccr-racing.com/shop/frontpage.html These guys can supply you them. That's where I got my new pulley. I have now an 80mm and 90mm. Also, Alex pointed out to me that there was a Rotrex pulley on eBay recently and I would recommend using the Rotrex pulley itself. That way, if there's any problems you can say its all how it should be. Vince maybe a good person to ask for parts as he does the 'stealth oil catch tank'. He supplied me the engine oil cooler. I'm not exactly sure what the cooling properties are for the Rotrex oil cooler. CCR can probably answer that question. Good luck with your install, hopefully my knowledge will be enough to assist others if you have any questions but Alex and Craig have been great for knowledge and helping me out.
  12. Would you accept £25 plus delivery? If so, I will take it ASAP please. Cheers Rams ---------- Post added at 12:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:45 AM ---------- Sorry, just re read post about it being trimmed, I will pass. Sorry.
  13. Just like to thank Kev and Alvin for helping me out with these wheels tonight, it felt like being in a concentration camp just all sat there quietly polishing and sanding but they're looking good. They will soon be ready for a final buff up.
  14. These pictures are after my friend sorted the dents and had them polished but the machine could get into the bottom flat section and around the spoke edges. The insides all painted, new gold bolts just to break it all up and if I ever paint the centres then I can put the original studs in. Going tomorrow night to do some more work on them. My friend has been great helping me out with them. I owe him a few bottles of something nice that's for sure. They will be gleaming when I'm done, its just how long will they stay like that. Dropped new sump, sump plug/washer and sump gasket. All new rocker cover fasteners, new rocker cover gasket. New K&N cone filter which shouldn't fowl on the bumper as the BMC filter I got was bent where the bumper slots in. Just waiting on the new head light loom and the new stainless bolt kit to be sent, I also picked up the trumpet and grub screw for sorting my bonnet cable as it doesn't sit in the housing. The little grub screw was so corroded that if I tried to undo it, it was just fall apart. It's taking shape steadily
  15. I actually forgot to take some pictures, By the time I called it a day I was whacked. The hard part is over now, it's just sorting the fine scratches and final polish. Will get some pics up soon
  16. Manifold wrapped and my good buddy Kev sorted out some stainless wire and a special tool to tie and twist ends. Whilst he did that I spent the next 5 hours polishing my RH wheels, where I had them polished previously the machine company I used couldn't get into edges and corners so have been wet and dry rubbing with 320 grit for ages. Got it all smooth now and just need to go through the grades and will finish with a scotch pad ultra fine and metal polish as a final finish. Need to re seal dishes this week and get the new bolts torqued up and then order 4 tyres. I bought some spigot rings for the RH's and now trying to find a 2 or 3 RH centre caps. Head should be all built back up by Thursday with a bit of luck. That's it for now
  17. I posted the package today mate recorded delivery.... Will send over payment by Monday too. Cheers Rams
  18. Quick update Picked up 2 bottles of g13 coolant, new tensioner bolts and as I'm replacing the chrome rocker cover which I will be advertising next week with the original plastic one and ordered new bolts and gasket. Order a new sump and have a new gasket ready to go on. Head is off, haven't had a proper look yet but so far all appears well. The head - 2 valves look a bit white compared to the others and not sure if this means its running lean? Maybe an injector issue? Could it have anything to do with changing to OBD2 as it fuels differently?? Can't remember what Vince said when I was discussing the mapping but when I told him its OBD2 he mentioned needing to do something a different way/speed signal wire? He said have you plugged it in before and did it have a code appear? I don't recall any code.....? The injectors are being removed and cleaned up/refitted so Vince will find it nice and easy to remove them. I can't run the new larger injectors till I arrive at Stealth and I will have to drive up there very slowly till he can change the injectors and map it up.... Should be all rebuilt by end of next week. Maybe the week after. I'm in no rush just more excited each time I see a new part of the car that hasn't been dismantled yet. This weekend I will finish wrapping the manifold, it's in my Lounge to help push me to do it. I will count the swear words this time. Also got to finish my wheels this weekend as I want to get them fitted before it leaves the garage. Bit more polishing and 4 tyres needed. I've got a leak on one of my D90's so will be able to have it fixed and might sell them for something else as a winter wheel. Sent my loom and connectors to Kurzy for a new headlight loom, 90 mm pulley arrived, methanol liquid and all is set. Alex kindly sold me a new ribbed belt for a good price too. Anyone have any pictures of the stealth oil cooler installs? My mechanic thinks the hoses are not long enough. It's the kit he was selling a while back if people have them?
  19. When could I have a set as just order new sump and would make a nice touch.... Cheers Rams
  20. Thanks for picking me up, I can safely say that your car sounds fantastic, really impressed and when the new wheels go on it will be one mean machine. Catch you Thursday for curry night
  21. The only place I could get one was CCR in Denmark. You are right, it's for an obd1 but he now says that's the only one they do. It wasn't cheap either! I called one of the tuning companies and they wanted a lot of money to make one. If someone knows where I can find one I could always change it later and sell mine on. Devilsown have supplied me with the adaptor for the nozzle to work with the silicone inlet pipe. I thought I might be able to use that spout but I will just have to blank it off. Car goes in tomorrow to be stripped. Not going to rush it, will take time and make sure all is well. I'm still waiting for the larger pulley to arrive from CCR and he says its posted but will see when it turns up?? The 80 mm pulley I have might just be too much. The original plan was to use the BV head but after having it inspected, it's a standard head and as I wanted to eventually change the bottom end, I'm going to just do both later on and get the charger installed to my standard engine with the 263's and arp head and rod bolts and spacer gasket. I probably won't fit the other gearbox I have with Quaife and just pull the engine out and do it in one go. Methanol kit will be fitted but without the fuse and we will remove the injectors and re grease them so when it goes to Vince he will find it easy to get them out as they can be hard to remove. Then the green tops can go in when I arrive. Bit nervous to drive all that way without everything working together but hopefully she will drive ok till it's all finished and mapped. When I told Vince it was OBD2, he mentioned something about a speed signal issue but I don't recall seeing this when I have plugged her in before? Maybe it's got something to do with the different Maf I will be using or how he tunes it? I will snap as many pictures as possible which may help some others
