Vwspares (google it) have TWR calipers for about £55 each
-
I missed the springs nI the picture I agree that they are not the correct
-
some good picture on page five of this thread.... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?40893-Mk4-Golf-Rear-Calipers-Upgrade-Re-Parts/page5
-
Also they won't fit with the Mk4 carriers which the calipers are attached to in the picture as they are a different pitch. you need to use the corrado carriers. make sure the calipers have a 38mm piston. not 32mm (polo) or 41mm which is golf estate

Don't buy a low pressure one. You need the pressure for cleaning patios etc.... I just bought a karcher. From the karcher shop on line. Bargain price as it was a warrantee return, but with a full guarantee. Edit.... Google karcher outlet. I bought a refurb K4
-
cheers bud..... unfortunately I needed the blunt end not the sharp end.
-
looks like them be sold :(
-
Teeee Heee .... I've just order SKF..... should of looked at the thread earlier...... not to worry they are decent bearings. TPS seem a similar price to carparts4less
-
Unfortunately not as I will be out of the country, was hoping to go :(. thanks for the kind thought. I've just done a cross reference on the SKF website. It looks like the Rear Bearings are SKF VKBA 529 and are round about £15 - £20 each dependant where you get them from ebay / bearing factors. The front bearings are SKF VKBA 1491. Thanks all for the input.
-
thanks.... some good info there.... I spotted the skf on ebay and thought that they may be original fit VW. or near the same quality.
-
Cheers jim. That would be good if you can find out. No rush at the moment. Don,t need doing Yet. Just doing preventative maintenance while bits are off the car.
-
Anyone know who made the wheel bearings for the corrado.... Where they originally Manufactured by SKF... Don't mind paying veedub prices but 35 pounds per bearing seems a bit steep for the rear but then again don't want to buy any cheap rubbish that will last 5 mins
-
which pads should I be buying to fit mk4 rear calipers. it looks like pagid do 3 types for a VR6 2 that are 15mm thickness for early vin cars and a later set that's 17mm thick. my cars a N plate. 17mm and excludes wear warning contact http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1995/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101440328&1&e2799815a881be68e4b5b743004b2839eda09627&000036 15mm and excludes wear warning contact. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1995/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101745378&1&cebd2a51f937efee5d5fcc9ca9cbbd71663fe9b4&000036 15mm and not prepared for wear indicator http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1995/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101440198&1&695698b9b36ec127e6f620fcbb5f517ce7f4b0b7&000036 or does it mater ??? I'm hoping it the 17mm as they are cheaper £14 with 25%discount at the moment.

best of luck..... so what's the target time ???
-
Thanks all for the advice...... Irwins arrived from amazon this morning and carrier was removed with no effort at all..... any recommendations for a decent quality bearing grease. also anyone bought rear bearing and rear abs rotors from VW recently and can give me a heads up on price. TA
-
thanks for the tip ! just ordered some irwins from amazon..... always handy to have in the tool box !
-
Ooooo you have changed your avatar :) thanks all for all the replies..... will pop out to VWfor some parts and try and get some irwins in the morning. Allen key socket is a sykes pickavant so should be okay size wise. I think the issue is just it's the original bolt and very rusty internally and externally (the carrier has never been off, well I've not touched it in my ownership since 1998 how do irwins work size wise.. I've just put a caliper over the cap head and one says 16mm ish and the other is a nats smaller, due to rust. edit.... I see screwfix sell them few quid more than amazon and ebay but it's a quick fix..... http://www.screwfix.com/p/irwin-5-piece-bolt-grip-nut-remover-set/96028?kpid=96028&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-Sales%20Tracking-_-sales%20tracking%20url&gclid=CMC2gaiBzbYCFWbKtAod-TAADQ I assume the 16mm socket will work then.

trying to get the rear brake carrier off at the moment, but cant's remove the bolts. Grrrrrr... these things are never a five min job. Bolts are the original so well rusted, internally and externally so the allen key profile is very slack. what's the best way to get them out. I think I'm on the way to knackering the lower bolt. just soaking them in penetrating oil at the moment.......
-
why would the engine bay get this dirty if it had only covered 40K ???? I've never cleaned mine and its spotless..... and it's done similar miles. is the leather on the drivers side seat cracking.
