cheers.... was hoping that you would reply ! :) I'll give VW a call... thanks ---------- Post added at 1:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:40 PM ---------- Any idea what they are called ? just spoke to VW and they didn't really know and thought a stop buffer... part number also would help.

just changed the fuel filter on my VR.... all gone well so far.... however one of the metal "u shaped brackets" that slides over the plastic filter housing fixing holes has corroded and fallen apart. are they still available from VW ??? if not what do people use.... or do they use anything. should I put the filter back without one of these ?

lots to do over next few month... but needs to warm up a bit to work in a damp garage for me..... new discs and pads /bearings on the rear with mk4 callipers. uprated headlight loom. new exhaust centre section. oil / brake fluid / coolant change and flush bit of bodywork issue to sort.... and I've got some funny goings on with my new stereo wiring that I've not sorted yet.... Join the CCGB again not been a member since 1998 :) bought a few bits this month though new tyres and a new speedline rim and a set of corrado mats, rear discs and pads. Okay changing the "Initial Question" a bit.... what's Santa bringing for the rado this year !

I've got an cube attention too...... it's a 2012 model in black / grey and red.... lovely bike.... is that an 18" frame you've got ???? I had to put a longer stem on mine. tried turning the orig stem upside down but it didn't improve it.... get some decent pedals and a chain guard :)....... the pedals that come as standard are really rubbish.

I fell in love back in 1990, i used to get the school bus outside a vw dealer... they had a nugget in the show room that i saw every day ! One day............

cheers supercharged some good advice..... 80K :) that means i've got another 40K life left in them.... (rado's only done 40K :) ) the reason for change to mk4 is last time i took the car out of the garage 12 years ago Off side rear handbrake cable failed to release.... noticed some funny smoke coming from the rear disc which was glowing. must of overheated the discs and bearings so they will need changing. xmas holidays project. thanks again

cheer's will give C&R a call see if they can do me a package with hoses too. re:- bearings.... i sort of new the answer. are the shells easy to remove from the old disk ????? I think i read somewhere you use a special MK4 handbrake clip on the caliper rather than squeezing the arm up is that correct ?? thanks for the advice.
-
few Q's before i splash the cash, so to speak. I'm going to buy new Mk4 calipers for the rear. VW dealer want £158.71 each :( but you can buy a set from VWSPARES for £55 each made by TRW. has anyone used them are they a viable option ? would save £200. Also i've been given a set of rear wheel bearings made by roulex ??? jpgroup.dk never heard of them. i normally only fit vw bearings as most other only last 5 mins. is it worth fitting them or should i buy a new set. don't like doing the job twice when i can do it right first time :) could someone check the O.E ref number is correct for me it says 191598625ALT

from memory they are handed... the plastic lugs that push into the hinge are on the opposite side on the drivers side.

Is there enough interest for a new batch of headlight switches?
delfinis38 replied to 8vMatt's topic in Group Buy Feelers
I'd guess i'd be up for one these next time round matt. I had to fabricate a repair on me origional a few years back... dunno how long it will last in anger ! (corrado never goes out at night :) so never put it to the test) -

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
delfinis38 replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
dave what are the signs that a door handle needs / going to need one of you repair kits ? my drivers side is getting slack / requiring less resistance to pull the handle compared to the passenger side. is it showing signs of requiring a repair kit ? not had the handle off to inspect recently. -
agree bought a new speedline rim of them a few weeks ago.. A++ service
-
Yup thanks.... it was your post from a few years back that i found, which prompted the question.... don't fancy buying the wrong part from halfords and having to take it back for a refund....... anyone got a suggestion what to buy... that will fit :) Brrrr... back to polishing the rado in a cold garage..... :(
-
hi. I 've done a search but found no positive answer.... New tyres going on my speedlines so i guess it's time to buy some locking wheel nuts. Lots of you seem to suggest McGuard with a radius seat and lots have been to halfords numerous times and bought the wrong set.... so which is the right set for a VR with speedlines any one got a part number please or should i just buy a set from VW ??? Also does anyone know a set which will take the standard black plastic nut cap over the top ? any other recommendation for a set of locking wheel bolts. cheers.

The real cost of a genuine VAG VR6 exhaust...
delfinis38 replied to Joss_Durnan's topic in Engine Bay
their's actually a scorred mark in the rear section of the OEM exhaust where to chop the exhaust in half, which leaves you with the mid section and rear box. I spoke to my dealer about it and it's reconised to chop the exhaust and sleeve the two together. which saves dropping the rear beam. this is what I did and it work's well. -

My VR has 3 sections..... A Cat which joins a sausage shaped silencer box then the 2 rear boxes which are a complete section. I know the 2 rear boxes are expensive C.£450 and may be obsolete now. I spoke to a dealer about a month ago and the sausage shaped bit was £150 and was also obsolete but i was told of one dealer which has one in stock in the UK. I was fortunate to pick a new complete OEM exhaust up on ebay last year for £150 -
thanks for the kind words. I bought the car when it was six months old in 1997 it had 5500 miles on the clock. I used it until 2000 for commuting 15 miles to work each day. summer 2000 i quite work and went travelling for a few years and stored the car in my parents garage. to which day it still is parked ! with just less than 40K on the clock. I've now got plans to get her going again for this coming spring... one totally standard 4x4 VR :)
