when i bought my 6 month old VR in 1997. it had dunlope sp 2000 on. the car had 5K on the clock so i guess they were orig -
don't waste your time trying to re-spray it chrome... been their and tried it.. the finish / colour from rattle can's doesnt do it justice if you want the OEM look... either source a new corrado one (which are thin on the ground) or buy a new Mk ? 2 golf badge for the rear (i never remember). or just spray it black or a matt colour. the rear badge just pulls out. your need 2 new plugs to re fit the badge.

that would be great ! thanks....

anyone got a picture of their corrado under one of the halfords premium car cover's... just wondering how well it fit's and what it looks like.

No I'm not selling. so i'm not after a silly rock bottom figure... I'm talking about what's it worth in terms of agreed value insurance.... just wondering if i've under or over estimated a figure.... manual corrado vr6 on an 'n' plate, 2 owners, i purchased it with 5k on the clock in 1997, now has just over 40K. FSH, black leather, air-con, totally standard, colour aqua blue met.

Must admit i've been a bit lazy with the old girl over the last few months.... had some inspiration over the winter and gave her a good old service and some TLC.... she's sat in the garage doing nothing again.... No MOT and SORN :(
-
thanks kip... looks like because the car has no MOT and is SORN i need a laid up policy. i phoned chris knott and they don't do one but have put me in contact with footman and james (these are the guy's that sorted your nugget out arent they ? and you had good service ????) and also lancaster who cant do a laid up policy on a 16 year old car as it needs to be 20 years old. need a bit more investigation..... looks like my no claims is varied for either 2 / 3 years dependant on company policy.
-
okay need to insure the rado here's the senario.... VR6 Garaged No MOT and SORN it's my only car at the moment which wont be used for 6 month's / a year and I want to keep no claims.... or I need some sort of cheap insurance with minial mileage maybe 1k per year.... currently with elephant and they want £250... seems a lot for a car that's not on the road.... any recommendations please.....

I paid C.18K for mine second hand with 5K on the clocks in early 1997.

my touch up stick from the dealer certainly doesn't resemble LC5U :)

good to know... what is the standard price these days £55 ish ? I'm always wary of these deals. they normally want work and will fail it on a silly thing knowing they can get some business.... do they offer a free retest in the price ??? I always use a reliable small garage in our village pay top whack for the MOT but it never fails. I know he doesn't have any interest in my car apart from making sure it's safe to drive on the road..... On a similar note i think you can take your car to halfords auto centre and use tesco clubcard points for a MOT. £10 in points = £30 to spend at halfords auto centre according to the tesco website.

silverline or clarke.. I've used both... bought my clarke from machinemart with the foam heads too.... I use it on three cars and a to polish the hull of a 45 foot yacht once a year.... my only tip is if your using it regularly try and get something light to hold.

Okay.. so the intention is to change the brake and clutch fluid on the VR at the weekend. I've read some of the guides on bleeding brakes on here and have 2 litre's of dot 4 ready to flush through the system. But I was just wondering if anyone has any tips before I get stuck in ! I've changed the fluid in other cars before but never on the VR as the stealer normally does it. My intention is to suck the old stuff out of the bottle, replace with new and pump the old stuff out of the pipes by pumping the brake pedal until new stuff has come through (hence buying 2 litres). I don't have any fancy equipment apart from one of those bottles with a pipe attached to collect the waste fluid. I assume the clutch uses the same reservoir for the fluid, and I should not let the level drop too low to induce air into the system, I've also read that i need the ignition on to run the ABS pump (but i'm not convinced ??? ). Also the rear wheels should be on the ground to help the flow of the fluid. Is this procedure correct given the tool I currently have.... I relise it will take time and 2 people. but i have plenty of time on my hands given the car hardly gets used. thanks for any info or tips.

thanks guys... i guess it's what i heard as i could here water moving initially.

what is that buzzing noise ?? It comes from the engine when the ignition is on, no engine running. seems to come from right hand side of the engine (pass side) just under the big round electrical plug that goes into the engine. I've never really noticed it before. is it the ECU buzzing ?

lots on ebay at the moment... quite a few ending today !

nail varnish remover is just acetone watered down with a bit of fragrance. its not greasy like white spirit - thinners and evaporates so it's great for cleaning and degreasing. so no need really to use an extra degreaser..... thanks for the tips

whats the deal with TPS... I know you can buy general service items from them.. but can you get other bits and pieces that VW would have to order or get from there main warehouse.
-
I replaced mine last year... their just standard self tapper's. I bought some stainless steel one's.

I've got the bulb out and found a replacement on the maplins website for £1.50. so I guess I'll have a go at soldering the bulb on myself. It's easier than ordering from VW, then taking another trip down to pick the part up in 7 days time. I guess the part from VW is only a fiver but I like a challange and I can finish the job today if maplins have a bulb on the shelf.
