i didnt mean the injectors dont flow enough, i meant injectors or fuel pump was getting old and not providing enough fuel at top RPMs. Im modding my g60 and as a insurance policy changing fuel pump as its probably in there since it came out of the factory. a 21 year old pump wont be putting as much fuel through as new one especially at top rpms. as the guys said check your ecu for faults. Id also check the intake meter flap to make sure its not sticking near the end of its travel

I was going to say if you want a large one,ive got one as im going FMIC and just bought small one off ebay
-
cheers mike, its going to take a while and im slowly aquiring pieces. thing is i dont know what to build? 16v60 is top of my list at the moment as ive just managed to find and buy a rare 50mm scirocco upper and lower intake(400 euro!!!) in local magazine But im also looking at 1.8t or TFSI or 16vt

Did you round off the allen key bolt? what was it in the end?
-
Went back to tuv centre and the guy also advised me the HC emissions were little high nearing 900 ppm but not a reason for failing(max 1200) back home to check fueling and number one cause of overfuelling on a g60. ecu hose of to Vw to order some

fail on lights because the reflector lense is old and beam is not distinict enough. A trip to bremen motor show and found ex-show set of inpro type lights. And the chance to sit in a race corrado, sorry for the w&nk pics left my camera in night mode :bonk:

had a bit of a pull to the left so went to local aligment center. On the ramps, the guy advised me the steering ball joint and track arm ball joint was getting sloppy So off to VW to get some parts

Well guys most members show off their pride and joy from start to finish,so ive decided to join the fun First off- bought in south of germany 3200 euro(bargained to 3000) with 125k km on the clock G60 in tornado red sunroofless model.Had a recent engine rebuild and compression test showing 10.5 bar across all cylinders. Think it was a fair price considering it has been cared for

which rad do you have alex? BIG one or small one?

can you still get them? though they were obselete! Maybe im just talking c%&p

If you have a plastic impeller waterpump i 100% guarantee its that cause the 1.8t's had same probs with overheating. As yands said the plastic impeller is pressed on the driven shaft and over time it rounds off and becomes loose on the shaft and doesnt circulite the coolant. If its cooling ok at idle but starts overheating when driving, its the pump. I feel for you colin,i had to sit at the service area at the dartford tunnel for 5 hours when my aircon pump seized on my g60.After a 11 hour drive from germany thats not what you want! Lol

it does look like the lambda is still in closed loop mode as the fuel starts to lean out after 5000rpm even though it should stay rich if on WOT. Fuel pumps dont have to make noise to be on their last legs, also what state are the mechanical injectors in?have them ever been changed? Vacumn leak somewhere? If youve done some substainial work to your engine it might be either injectors or pumps are working overtime and cant provide enough fuel

my g60 sits at about 92-96'C around town,98-104'C when doing about 70-100 mph down the autobahn. The fan kicking in shouldnt really bring the oil temp down that much. Funny i had this problem a month after i bought my rado except my guages worked fine one day,the next the needle struggled to get to 70'c on coolant guage. Changed the thermostat(with genuine one), black temp sensor and ohms tested all the wiring. no faults found. must be something with the guage not working. You gotta love rado electrics!!!

dont build what you can buy! like alex said. Ive got a non-sunroof model, theyre supposedly rare even over here but doubt theyre worth any extra. As said one less thing to go wrong.
-
hylomar? Blue stuff that goes off after few minutes but stays semi hard. I used to used that stuff all the time but ever since they brought out loctite 5190 ive never used anything else! O-ring kits you can cut your o-rings to your required length.
-
funny you need that simong, cause ive just stripped one of my spare g60 engines 2 hours ago and came across the same dilemia!!! Prob end up just using a loctite o-ring kit.theyre the mutts nuts!

if the circlip is missing on the gear selector, first is difficult to engage even if vertical shifter is adjusted.sometimes it will jump off the selector rod leaving you stuck in gear If fifth is difficult then its the vertical selector needs slight adjustment. Or both

dannyboy replied to dogger's topic in Forum Group-Buys
hi dogger, when will production of the G60 front grill start? and give me a shout if your going to start group buy for them. been waiting for something like this for ages. Do you have any LHD scuttle panels ? cheers, dan -

Just got fresh pair of uniroyals 195/50/15s(i know,im boring!) rain sport 2 on the front axle. Its a massive marked improvement on grip in the rain and good in the dry but maybe its the tyres or size- theres a big difference in front stability going from 205 to 195.Its a little more comfortable but it makes for a nervous cornering due to softer walls and keeping 205s on the rear with 195s on the front is quite interesting if you like the rear end to kick out when going around corners.lets see how long theyll last! Grip in dry- 8.5 Grip in wet- 9 Stability- 6 Wear-TBC

no quicky your correct, there are lots of cars that come with speed senstive PAS. nothing worse that have twitchy steering at motorway speeds.
-
is it just hestation or is it misfiring too? also make sure you've checked for the dreeded crank pulley bolt has'nt come undone.Theres a sticky here for it.
-
Cant alex but you can have them re-mirrored (believe me ive tried!) A company does them but id only use them if i had no option left(£40 per reflector). Perfectly honest i quite like the inpro(mines actually not inpro, mines made by a company called MBT but look very simalar) because the projection beam is better in my opinion. But im sure other people will disagree I didnt really buy them for styling, just for their practical use
-
ive HAD to buy inpro lights because they no longer stock the plastic reflector on the normal lights in the stealers and only way to get my car through MOT because my ones have next to no reflective surface
