A friend of mine had a polo.....older shape mk3 i think....during the summer he parked the car up for the day and took the underground to work.....sunny day in glasgow (rare) and the kids set off a fire hydrant.....so water on his car all day.....when he got back to it the water was at the steering wheel :D must have came in through the vents or thereabouts.......anyway drained the water and after a wee while we towed it away and it bump started no worries.....only damage was the transponder didn't work so car wouldn't start normally......big button from JCB fitted under shelf above pedals and all was well.....kick start polo 8)

Hi all, My battery light came on this morning.....and stayed on.....I had a quick look under the bonnet at the alternator and all seemed well....came in and did a search......looked like the alternator bushes/voltage regulator....tested the voltage at the battery and it was 11.30v which is too low......should be 13.5-14v .......so off to gsf and got a replacement.....£11ish.....got home and fitted it.....(after undoing stuck screw  ) .....started the car up and the light is still on :( Is this likely to be time for a new alternator or battery? ......or could it be something else? thanks in advance

My bad idle was caused by 2 broken wires(burst inside the plastic covers) on the plug that attaches onto the throttle potentiometer.....only took about a year to find :D ....that was after a new MAF, distributor, leads, throttle potentiometer, fuel pump, and a replacement throttle body and many times cleaning the ISV . Its worth a check as i'm sure someone else also had this.....and its free to look  Mine is also a 2.0 16v btw If you haven't yet looked then use the search....there will be loads of reading as its a common fault.....with usually a few answers Good Luck
