Awesome driving. Love the boxer soundtrack, almost makes me want an Impreza. But then again...

With the recent cold/wet weather we've had, I've noticed in the mornings that my clocks are steaming up. They're clear when I get in, but steamy within 5 mins. Wipe them clean and they steam up again... Anyone else noticing this? Is it a common quirk or something more sinister? Damaged seal somewhere maybe???

All smoked front looks good mate! Does the smoke effect on the headlights reduce the light output by much? (as if it isn't low enough already) Or have you got an uprated loom on it? Good work still, looks like a different car to the one you originally bought...

Cheers, I found the VR filter repl guide, on my back in the road for me tmrw morning! Hope it doesn't snow tonight...

So, after thinking to myself that I hadn't treated the VR to any goodies in a while, I got her a very nice set of speedlines to replace her corroded kurbed originals, and a BMC CDA. :D How does she repay me? Breaks down on the way home from work last night, 2230, freezing and throwing it down with a very nice sleet/snow mix. Not impressed to say the least. :mad2: Turns over fine on the key, plenty of fuel in her (1/2 tank), she's trying to start sometimes, tries to fire up but it seems the fuel pump or the pump relay has given up the ghost, there's just not enough fuel reaching the engine for her to fire up fully. You can't hear the pump prime when you turn the key to 2 as you normally would, so I've got a relay from VW today £22  , also ordered a fuel pump as it's always had an annoying whistle/hum, which has got louder lately, so I'm just gonna swap it out anyway. Pump cost £138 from the stealers :gag: (10% off that with CCGB discount though :notworthy: ). The only saving grace here is that my VR has a VDO pump fitted so I don't need to fork out the extra £58 for the sender unit, I can re-use the existing one. Checked through the service records and receipts today and it seems the fuel filter has NEVER been changed, I reckon it's probably this thats lead to the pump failing, trying too hard to push fuel through a 13 year old filter. :brickwall: So after an hours wait in the cold, she was loaded onto the back of a flatbed recovery wagon, and piggybacked home. Looking very sorry for herself. Thought I'd share my deep joy with you, and the moral is, never buy gifts for your C, as they're ungrateful b*****ds! Any tips on the fuel pump/filter swap greatly appreciated, found a good article in the wiki on here for the filter, and a pictorial on the vortex for the pump, but if anyone's got any tricks they wouldn't mind sharing... Cheers guys, feel's better to have got that off my chest.

Best mod I've done to my VR so far, until I put the BMC on earlier today...

VR Induction Kits - Alternatives to the BMC CAI...

Fitted my BMC this morning, well impressed. Seems more lively, might just be me toeing it though to hear the noise it makes lol -
Always thought they would look cool mirrored, couldn't a set of metal centre caps be fabricated using an original plastic cap as a template of sorts?? Just a thought...

Sold the Corrado...but check out the new motor!!!
mattnorgrove replied to stel g60's topic in General Car Chat
Sweet motor mate, if you want a Corrado back I'll swap you! ;0) -
Yeah, it'll fit no problem mate, search GPC on the net, they still sell them I think. The smaller one is 50mm, larger is 90mm. HTH

Spotted! Just looked up The Ascension Islands on Google Earth, that must be like one of only five cars there looking at the size of the place.

The interior looks very nice and the bay doesn't look bad either, shame about the colour and styling though...

What can I use a pair of alloys for that nobody wants?
mattnorgrove replied to was8v's topic in General Car Chat
Pah! Beat me to it Toady! Great minds... :D -
Had to enter to win that! Tiff knows how to throw em around eh? Great to hear the C get a mention. I'll let you all know what it really goes like when I win it... :)

Yes mate, heated as standard, hence the ridiculous dealer price...

Regardless of whether we come out the other side of these tight times or not, I'll still want to emigrate, as there are numerous other reasons that make this country more and more unbearable by the year. I'm sure we could all think of 10 good reasons to get outta here. Sure the grass may not be greener on the other side, but I'm willing to find out. It just isn't the country it used to be. Sad but true.

this is why im emigrating to australia in a few years time....sick of the UK ! its all down hill from now.. Agreed. Great idea, but I'm thinking Canada, got relatives out there already. As soon as my nipper hits 18 and is old enough to decide whether to stay or not, then I'm off.

Purple VR6 on Ebay - Can anyone on here offer help?
mattnorgrove replied to Pete's topic in General Car Chat
Gotta agrre with Walesy, for 6k it'd have to be MINT, not Ebay MINT, but properly MINT. Otherwise walk away. For 6k as already said you could have the same model, albeit with higher mileage, all probs already dealt with AND a supercharger bolted on. 2p. -
They'll fit if its a valver or G60 (lookin at your avatar its a 16v right?) They're 4x100, so the PCD's right but you'll have 15mm more poking outwards than standard. HTH m8

Looks fantastic mate! Fair play to ya!

Good idea, I'll give that a whirl, cheers...

So if the coilpack is the problem, would the problem stop once the engine is warm? I'm thinking, its either that, HT Leads, Plugs or MAF? Don't want to shell out changing them all though, just whatevers causing the problem... Could it be anything else?
-
With the wet weather we've been having, the VR has been playing up more and more. Seems when the car is first started, that under load, the engine is only firing on 3 or 4 pots. Had a search, but only found results from peeps who have this problem PERMANENTLY. The thing with mine is, once the coolant/oil are up to temp the problem ceases. The problem has always been there when the engine is cold, its just never been this bad before all the wet we've been having So anyone got any pointers on what could cause this cold/damp problem? As always, thanks in advance.

Liking the knee bars from the TT in the last couple of shots, unfortunately I'm far too tall to be able to fit those comfortably... :D

Fantastic read! You could almost hear the V12 "at full cry". Sad ending though... :(
