  1. Anyone ever owned or driven one? What are your opinions on them? How would you compare them to the C? Seen a few on PH lately, and they're looking well tempting...
  2. Mine has started doing this again recently and having read this thread, i tried a quick flash of the main beam and the bleeping/flashing stopped!!! Curious though crasher, what would the heater matrix have to do with it? Mine is about to give up i reckon as the heater aint what it used to be!! Cheers and TTT!!!
  3. A sad day indeed. Condolences. But, "needs must when the devil vomits in your kettle"... Keep ya chin up!!
  4. The factory lights on main beam have all 4 lit, sounds like you may have a problem with your in-pro's. Someone else may be able to confirm this??
  5. All four bearings done 3 months ago with genuine replacements, and no noise/drone associated with bearings at any speed either, so i'm hoping its not that... Not really got the tools or facilities to attempt it myself so i'll be in touch with Midland VW i reckon, ta for the reccomendations tho.... Any idea on cost if it is the Outer CV?? Cheers for the replies...
  6. Thats not mine, looks minty tho. Definite keeper...
  7. Just been out in the car, and its not only when braking after all... Braking or not, the noise happens, but only when turning left, not right... Anyone??
  8. Might be, i know it was from up north originally. Did she have a private reg on it? The immobiliser's a fob in the dash jobbie...
  9. Removed the gearstick gaitor boot and surround the other day, and noticed a small, silver toggle type switch underneath where the gaitor surround normally sits, on the right hand side (nearest the drivers side). Any ideas what it might be? Toggled it a few times but it didnt seem to do owt. Tried the search to no avail.... TIA!!
  10. I'd say they should all be lit when on main beam, and only the 2 outers on dipped, as per the factory jobbies. Might be talkin cack tho.... Whats happening on yours then? All 4 on main beam or just the inners?
  11. Hello all! I've recently noticed a noise from the front N/S when turning left, its a creaking/groaning/grinding noise. It only happens when turning left under braking, into a tight junction (i.e. 90 degree turning). If i turn into the exact same junction without braking, the noise does not happen. So, brakes i initially think, but the noise does not appear when braking in a straight line... I have also noticed a squeeking noise if i turn the wheels when stationary. So whats your opinions? Am i looking at a brake overhaul or something more serious??? Thanks in advance...
  12. Looking forward to pics Jay. Congrats by the way on the C gettin 3rd place in PVW's Best Car of '06. (Shoulda won it IMO)...
  13. Thinking of getting a VR next summer, just been on confused.com and the best price was fully comp for £823! I'm 30 with 1 yr NCB, (will be 2yrs by next summer) but the car will not be garaged and parked on the road overnight. What kind of prices are similar aged peeps on here getting? I know Adrian Flux are reccomended on here but they qouted me over £700 on the valver a year ago and Direct Line beat them by £150 (so i'm with them). Any advice, as ever, greatly appreciated...
  14. Couldnt tell you what might cause that mate. What colour is the smoke?
  15. Shame. Another VR less for me to choose from next year.... Glad no-one was badly hurt tho...
  16. Robs right. had the exact same on my valver, changed both senders and cured the problem. (Actually changed them twice as i bought from GSF 1st time and they lasted a week). Definitely get them from VW. (can't help you on part numbers though sorry, although I know one is brown topped and one is white, if you ask for brown and white oil pressure senders, the stealers will know what you mean). And if THAT don't cure it, it might be a blocked sump pickup pipe, or your oil pump... HTH...
  17. Plug & Play for me too, price dependant.. Nice one... With regards to rewiring salvaged OEM plugs, I know a few peeps who work in electrical manufacture so could probably source the connectors required if you know the brand and part number...? Cheers...
  18. Wouldn't touch Midland VW with a barge pole personally!!! How come Joe? Never had a problem with them, Jodi certainly knows his stuff, and doesn't charge the earth. The fact that he's always got a 2 week waiting list says something too...
  19. How does the adjustable wiper time work then? Good thread this one!
  20. Bargain! One less rado in the hands of a no-brain. Good work that man! Looks good on the Dub-Modder...
