  1. Mine was a MK1 Ashtray, in beige, with matching interior. What a heap. The cheered myself up with a nippy 205 Lacoste twincarb, C Reg, half leather, electrics and a sunroof! Loved that motor till i wrapped it round a wall! :(
  2. Excellent article from The Mail! Worrying in its accuracy. My favourite part: "A four-page leaflet, entitled Good Defecation Dynamics has been published in Dundee. It gives advice on the safest way to sit on the toilet. "Do not slump down but keep a normal curve in your back. Make sure your feet are well supported." As Littlejohn says, "you couldn't make it up"
  3. IIRC the sensors were about £9 each from VAG, but I had to wait for them to be ordered. Its just a case of straight swap though, old one out, new one in. The new ones come with a fitted brass washer, so you don't have to worry about seals etc... HTH mate, good luck, and if you get any closer to solving it, let us know! :)
  4. Agreed. The guy should not have bought it, if within 6 months he aims to either sell, or god forbid, break it! If only it had gone to someone on here! Would be such a shame to see it broken....
  5. Mate, I've had the same problem with mine now for a few months. I've changed both sensors for VAG items, and remade the connections onto each. I've found that when the weather is dry the problem is worse. I've had the oil pressure checked properly, which came back fine, and like yours, mine uses zero oil. Try this, when the buzzer is sounding, flash your main beam, and the buzzer stops! Sounds wierd but it works! Which leads me to think I have some kind of electrical problem in the clocks where the lamp and buzzer live. Not much help I know but it the stops the noise and stops my bottom end paranoia! (oo-er)
  6. Was thinking the same thing on Sunday at Cosford Air Show, there must have been 10,000 cars there, and didn't see a C all day. (may have been due to the fact that I was looking at the sky all day, but you get my drift) Did however see SO many campers (splits, bays and even a 21 window)
  7. Ha! Reminds me of the van Cheech and Chong drive in "Up In Smoke"! Excellent!!
  8. The grey Jetta at the bottom looks the nuts! R36 looks a bit lardy IMHO. Wouldnt turn it down for free though....
  9. The fan speeds are controlled by the thermostatic switch mounted on the rad, on the side facing the engine, nearest the passenger side wing. I changed that on mine, (29mm ring or deep socket) and noticed a good decrease in coolant temps. The oil seems hot too (mine rarely gets above 90c) but unsure what could cause this.... HTH...
  10. Just had 2 Yokohama A539's for the front, mobile fitting wherever suits you and well priced. Mine just cost 85 quid! http://www.etyres.co.uk/
  11. My C is due her MOT on the 15th June, so I've booked her in for some new shocks springs top mounts etc on the 5th, was unsure if she'd need anything else doing while she's in bits so took her to a local tester for a pre-mot, had a good look underneath with the guy at the garage, and the only thing he could fault with the entire car was a low braking efficiency on the O/S rear! He said other than that he would've passed it there and then!! Well pleased as I was expecting a load of work to be needed!! Just thought i'd share my joy!! :D :D :D
  12. The 50mm will give higher BHP and torque, but only high up in the rev range, torque at lower revs will be less than with a 42mm, so it depends on you driving style i suppose.
  13. Hello and welcome!! 5k seems a bit pricey, late VR's have been fetching 3.5-4k lately, it would have to be a very nice example, with leather and all the options to be worth 5k IMHO. Does look a tidy example though. Love the red VR's (slightly biased though obviously!!) :D
  14. Think that one went, but there's a couple of others on E38... I'd love a MK2 VR!! Seem like the best of both worlds...
  15. Sounds like he's bending you over and expecting thanks for it. You can get a custom job from Pipewerx (sp?) for about £400 IIRC, or an aftermarket for £350ish (as already said). Tell the guy to take a long walk off a short pier if I were you...
  16. News to me that one!! Thought i needed a new bulb!!!
  17. Lovely VR! Like the shot with the van beached at the side of the road!!
  18. If a bird crapped on my car, I'd dump her.
  19. Welcome! The MFA reading you mentioned in number 4 is for OIL temp not coolant, sounds like the sender on the head is knackered, should be an easy fix on that one. To get into the fog lamps on the front, you need to prise the indicator lens out, insert a flat blade driver between the fog and the indicator, you'll feel the spring clip located on the wing side of the indicator, you need to kind of of lever it across and out towards you. With the indicator lens out, you'll see the fixing screw to remove the foglamp lens. Hope this helps! Enjoy!
  20. Bloody Hell! That makes mine £19421.59 OTR Hard to believe that when you cast an eye over the dirty rat these days! She's not worth 10% of that now in monetary value, but to me she's priceless!!
  21. Gutting, at least its not a write off though! Good luck getting it sorted...
  22. The VR's seem to have had a price drop lately, so I would hang on and get one from someone on here, like you say, why line a traders pocket, when you could buy from an enthusiast, and more likely know more of the actual history of the car, not just whats in the service book. Happy hunting!! (P.S. I jumped in with 2 feet and bought an Ebay special, and although she's never let me down, I personally wouldn't go down that route again.)
  23. Just read the whole thread. What a dick!! Whats he doin on a VAG forum anyway? Fkn ricers, they just won't listen.
