  1. Today I carried out a temporary repair to cure the cough my car seems to have picked up at Castle Combe - nothing complicated but chuffed to have removed parts, fixed stuff and replaced parts without breaking anything! I've been for a drive, but I made sure I had my phone and AA card with me, just in case... Hopefully I have sourced the one part I need to get the Jetta through the MOT which means that the Corrado can be sent away for a check up and a couple of upgrades. Also sorted out the interior light which had stopped working and placed a reasonable order with Polished Bliss for a few more potions to try. More to do tomorrow.
  2. Good grief! I thought my garage was full of Corrado parts...
  3. completely agree... it may be a cliche but I think the 'better to have loved and lost' phrase is spot on I bought my Corrado before I knew anything about the forum and I have to admit I thought the VW 'scene' (not keen on that word - makes me think 'tax'!) was pretty much just Beetles and Campers. A colleague from a fair few years ago (and now long time absent forum member) saw my Corrado in the work car park, tracked me down at my desk and told me about the forum. What a massive bonus! I'd feel I was selling my soul if I did that and only had one car! Ideal for those who don't care about what they drive though and as you say, want hassle-free motoring. 964 or 993 for me... or if we're being ridiculous, then a Carrera GT please!
  4. :( and ouch. From observation, I think it goes in waves.. 1. love your car for a bit 2. something goes wrong or something else appeals then either decide to 3. persevere 4. fix 5. drive it, grin (and receive a couple of compliments if you're lucky) and return to 1. or 3. sell 4. all is well for a while until something breaks on the new car/honeymoon period ends/see or hear a nice example on the roads/stumble across a photo of your old car/pop back onto the forum just to see what's going on because we're such a lovely lot! 5. regret 6. say 'I shouldn't have sold the Corrado' 7. buy a Corrado 8. return to 1.!! I've lost count of the number of times I've heard no. 6. and this comes from those who are fortunate enough to be in a position to come back. However, to all of you who are thinking about selling and trying out something else, then I say go for it provided that you're fairly confident you'll be glad that you did. After all who knows what you might be missing?!! It might be the best thing you do car-wise and you might not miss the Corrado at all... maybe! I've had mine for 8 years now and it still makes me smile every time I drive it, I'm still proud to be an owner and be part of such a great community, and I'm still grateful to own such a lovely car. I can't see any of that disappearing any time soon, and until it does there is no chance of me selling. Not unless I absolutely have to.
  5. Very well said! When I have a big decision to make, I think that provided I've thought about the major consequences and worked out what I think the likely outcomes will be, then I can't regret my choice because it was the right one for me at the time. You can always come back. Just don't break it! So many being broken these days!
  6. Welcome back to the forum and well done for buying the car rather than being another one who says 'I've always wanted one of those' as so many seem to do! Any photos yet?
  7. welcome to the forum and back to C ownership Mat! I'm sure you'll find this forum a very helpful and friendly place. Certainly looks like a cracker that you have bought. Any more (non-sideways!) photos?
  8. exactly what I was thinking! Sure I won't be the only one though!
  9. ah, Fishponds! I used to go there when I was little as my grandmother lived there. I'll be keeping a close eye on the classifieds too... I think a fair few people will be! Don't sell too much though - you know you'll need some of it when you come back!
  10. Welcome to the forum! Any photos of your latest Corrado? Perhaps you could start a thread in the member's gallery so we can all see how you get on with it? Best of luck with your project!

    Lost Keys

ouch... I can imagine that was not a happy conversation! No loose floorboards anywhere? Checked down backs of radiators? Under furniture/sofa cushions? I'm sure you'll have done all this anyway, but I'm trying to think of places where your daughter might be able to reach. Very best of luck finding them/getting new keys cut.
  12. That's appalling!! I agree with Sean_Jaymo that they should they be repairing it FOC, but not only that... they should also be in full-on grovel mode and should be doing everything they can to fix it asap, i.e. before your holiday! Everybody makes mistakes from time to time, but I think how a company deals with them defines them. PS. Hope you get it sorted quickly and that it doesn't ruin your holiday.
  13. That looks like a very nice Corrado indeed! Nice purchase!

    newbie

Sounds like a great project and something I'd very much like to do to mine. Best of luck with it and looking forward to seeing pics of progress!
  15. I don't dare work it out for the sake of my sanity! Wouldn't have it any other way though.
  16. I don't mind the discussion being in here, but so that everyone sees it, I've started a new thread. Headunit is working well Mic! Thanks again for your help :)
  17. A discussion about a track day has kicked off in my member's gallery, and whilst I don't mind that, I thought I'd start a new thread for those who haven't looked at mine. Easier to keep tabs on any plans too! Quick summary is that, after the National Day, a few people seem to be keen on taking their Corrado out on track again. Castle Combe has been suggested, and whilst I'd prefer it since it's fairly close to me, I appreciate that it's quite a long way south! Oulton Park, Donington and Cadwell have also been suggested. I think a few people would want to do some work on their cars (brakes, wheels etc.) before going out again so I don't suppose it will happen for a fair few weeks but I think it's a great idea! Anyone else interested? Any other circuit suggestions?
  18. great news! Thanks for looking into this.
  19. Bet they looked terrible! I only went out for 2 shortish sessions after the parade laps, but it was great fun. Wish I'd found time to go out again but I was happy chatting to people - think I need to go on a track day when I don't know anyone!! Happy belated birthday! My birthday is actually at the end of April but I'd been very lax in saying thanks! I think it was Adrian's (Portent) birthday the day after, as I remember him saying track time was his birthday present to himself too. Thanks for glue info for the headliner. I have to do something about it very soon as it's spitting tiny pieces of orange foam everywhere! I need to decide what colour I want though. Torn between keeping it OEM or changing it to black...
  20. Ha! I wonder how many of us will still have a Corrado then? Sadly, I suspect it might be quite a small meet...!
