  1. That looks lovely! Can't wait for the day that I can afford a respray!
  2. Not sure if any of these really count, but I'm very glad to have them. Nowhere near as interesting as some of the stuff mentioned so far! immaculate central dash insert (which stereo, heater controls, ashtray etc sit in) with all tabs intact immaculate heater control surround spare chrome VR6 grille badge (used) spare chrome VR6 rear badge (new) intact rear number plate plinth fuse box cover clips central dash gauges new front bumper new aerial new number plate light holder and metal surround
  3. Shame about the first one, but the new one looks very nice indeed. Good to hear you've made so much progress already. Welcome back!
  4. Welcome to the forum Andy. Always lovely to hear that someone has bought a C after wanting one for so long! Good luck getting it how you'd like (sorry, don't have any of the parts you mentioned so far) and as James has said, pics please!
  5. I think it's a cracking idea, but I guess it depends on whether someone is willing to let others drive their pride and joy. People keep their horses in livery stables, so why not cars?! Also, I'm sorry to hear you've been going through such a rough time, Rams. Hope you manage to find a resolution you're happy with. 997 is never a bad option in my eyes! However, I hope you can keep the C for later on, as well as buy the Porsche.
  6. ooh interesting! I'll definitely have a look at that over the weekend, and as you say, always good to support small businesses! I'm sure I'll still look at Polished Bliss though, as I like the way they review the products they sell as well as give the std descriptions. They often have 'how to use' videos too which are very useful.
  7. ooh, I like the Activity Stream! Great way to pick out interesting new posts!
  8. I reckon I have almost as many lotions and potions for my cars as I do for myself!! I know what you mean about claying... for about 2 panels and then I start to get bored, which is normally followed by me dropping the stuff and getting cross with myself for wasting it! Tardis is great too. A friend of mine used to have a valeting business and he swore by it. The only time it has been used on my car was by him though, so I have no knowledge of how easy it is to use. Nope, never thought about using Optimum No Rinse but that's because I've never heard of it! Thanks Jamie, I'll look it up.
  9. I'll amend the title to something less misleading in that case. I was only going on what the reviews say but it makes sense that it doesn't entirely remove the need for clay. Thanks for extra info, guys. Title now amended. I also meant to say that I had previously tried a sample of Iron X and thought it was great. The only reason I ended up with Iron Out instead is that I wanted to buy from Polished Bliss because of the free p+p and they don't sell Iron X.
  10. Good news! Sounds to me like you have a daily and a weekend toy there... What's the VR like? Any pics?
  11. Parcel arrived from Polished Bliss (I'd recommend them esp. since they don't charge for delivery on any order size) this morning containing 3 new products for me to try out and I'm over the moon with all 3. Auto Finesse Iron Out is my top new purchase. +ves are that it takes about a quarter of the time that claying does and I think it does a better job but -ves are that it's fairly pricey (although worth it to me for the time and effort I saved) and that it absolutely stinks! I'd recommend using it on a day when your neighbours are at work, wearing gloves and staying upwind! It's vile! I also don't think AF have got the bottle sizes right... choice is a 250ml spray bottle or a 5l can. I opted for the bottle and it says apply liberally which I did, but had to apply sparingly to the final couple of panels. Not sure how someone with a 4x4, for example, would manage. That doesn't detract from how good a product I think it is though! I also tried Nanolex Reactivating Shampoo because I struggle with water spots. I really should buy a filter to solve this, but this shampoo claims to reduce the problem significantly due to a rinsing agent so I thought I might as well try it. Definitely helped and it has a lovely apple scent. Will happily use this again. Lastly, I tried out Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish. Almost takes number 1 spot from Iron Out. Brilliant stuff. Removed the remaining water spots easily, and despite applying in direct sunlight which the instructions say not to do, it was incredibly easy to apply and remove. It's left the car with a shine I don't remember ever seeing on my car before and has hidden some of the swirls and scrapes. I know this is only covering up the damage, but it'll do nicely until I can afford a respray. It comes highly rated by Polished Bliss themselves - they use it regularly as part of their detailing service.
  12. Isn't it amazing how much paintwork can improve when under street lights?! Paintwork on mine is appalling but hopefully I'll be able to afford a decent respray soon. I did try 3 new products on mine today however, and I'm delighted with the results. Reckon it's the best the paintwork has looked in the 8 years I've owned it! Glad to hear you've sorted the selection issue. Cheap and easy fixes like that are always welcome!!
  13. Vanilla Cherry Coke has passed me by too, but Dr Pepper is the winner for me! I saw the dark one drive in and spotted the nugget early on but it was yours that I didn't see till later on, Jamie. Had a good look round it and it looks lovely. You've kept the paintwork red beautifully - not a trace of fading! The black look to the front end suits it too, and is making me wonder whether I want a grille with a black VW badge... Sorry to hear about the gear problem. I hope you resolve it quickly (and cheaply!). If you saw me arrive, did you see the car cut out twice? It has an issue with cutting out at v low revs when it's warm but obviously it worse when there are crowds of people around!!
  14. One iphone photo from No Rice last night, courtesy of Nick Horne. Meet was great but there was a moment of fury on the way home when I was undertaken by someone on a freshly top dressed bit of dual carriageway. The road we were on merged from the right and I was undertaken before the roads had even joined properly... he drove over the white painted triangle-y bit and absolutely peppered my car. Livid did not come close. He should be grateful that he kicked up so much dust as it stopped me from seeing the number plate and reporting him. I know the paintwork is appalling on my car (even worse now), but that really isn't the point. Glad the respray hasn't been done yet and thankful that the
  15. It was a good evening! Amazed by just how many people were there and the variety of vehicles, and amused by the guy who turned up on a bicycle! Car of the meet for me was the burgundy Mk1 Golf with cream interior. Beautiful. I saw the guy in the Focus (was it a Focus? I can't remember now...) who followed you out and was rather nervous for the health of your car when he sped away from the speed bump... Good to catch up and hope your first day goes well and your ankle mends quickly. edit: meant to say that the RX2s really suit your car. Looked great as you left!
  16. Not a terribly successful Corrado day... can't fit the new grille until I put the straight slam panel on and also failed to repair the dropped headlining. This is not how I intended it to look by the end of today! It took a while but I've given the car a very thorough vacuum to remove all the tacky, orange foam which was falling from the dropped headlining and then smearing like pollen. That's one thing achieved at least!
  17. Decision made... I'm going. Won't be there for a little while but I will be there at some point!
  18. what a great few days you have coming up! Enjoy!
  19. of course I don't! Very polite of you to check though :) I'm tempted to go but I have a few things I want to do tomorrow so I'll have to see how time goes. It's bound to rain though so maybe I have to go to provide some Corrado representation!
  20. Think your garage is better stocked than my local stealer. In fact I'm sure it is! :notworthy: Precisely.
  21. What is going on at the moment?!! Agree with the rest... try selling it whole, esp since you've given yourself time, and if nothing happens then put back to standard and sell that way. What a waste of a great example should it be broken.
