1. I believe the bases were Corrado specific. Lots of other Recaros sit too high when fitted in a Corrado too. I waited two years to find a pair of recaros in grey leather to match my interior and then had to pay £600 for them. Ten years on and I’ve had the complete interior retrimmed in new grey leather.......sumptuous!!!
2. I can measure mine later in the week if nobody else has opportunity, offshore at the moment though.
3. They look fine to me, viewing website, not Tapatalk on iPhone.
4. Thanks, it was my looking at Bentley and ETKA made me think mine were the wrong way around, expensive mistake, £240 for rack refurbish plus €329 for the broken pipe from Classic Parts. Explains why I’m trying to make sure this time! I’d just like to see either photos or some say they’ve traced the pipes before I tighten them up and start the engine.
5. Cheers Chris, I’m offshore Monday so I’ll not be putting it back together until the week after now but then it’ll be all panic as I need the car for my daughter’s wedding a few days after that!
6. Nobody? Must be someone has done a steering rack or can trace the pipe run from rack to pump just to confirm!
7. Could somebody please confirm the connections on the VR6 power steering rack for me. While my car was in pieces the rack was off for ages, I have a nasty suspicion that I somehow managed to get the pipes crossed when it went back together.........explaining why the steering didn't feel particularly power assisted and was lumpy turning. It got worse when I removed the rack and one of the pipes (the long and expensive one) got all twisted and broke but I'm not bitter! The money is spent and the new bits are here but I need to be 100% sure which pipe connects to which tapping on the rack, I believe it as the markings on the photo below of a spare rack I have. Note, mine was connected in the opposite way to the markings on the photo.
8. Ordered one from Classic Parts, just hoping it gets delivered in time now!
9. Thanks for the reply, this is the one I need, I'll check the VIN but as mine was at the back end of production in May 95 it generally falls into the latter numbers! I sent annavr6 a PM last night to see if I can buy it through Heritage or if I have to go direct to Classic Parts, I need the car for our daughters wedding the middle of next month so no time to lose getting in bought and delivered. Cheers
10. Took it to bits again today, the steering felt a bit tight at the test yesterday and the guy thought it was possibly a duff top mount. Felt lumpy on the way home so I split the track rod ends to check how the top mounts felt and they're fine, but the rack's lumpy! Dropped the rack out and cracked one of the pipes in the process because the gland nut was squeezing the pipe........there's never one thing fails in isolation is there! It'll be an eBay steering rack but shopping around for a new pipe.......might have to be Classic Parts! So I figured that as it was going to be in bits a couple of weeks while the new parts accumulate, I'll have the callipers refurbed and painted, any one tried BCS Automotive in Long Eaton before? My mate at work swears by them and has had his R32 and RS4 callipers done there so figure my 288s and Mk4s will be fine.
11. I bought mine from Heritage, currently selling at £91, only 6 left!
12. Looking for the pipe from the pump to the steering rack, nut on mine is rounded at the rack end. Also wanting a steering rack but plenty of Mk3 Golf ones available on eBay unless somebody here has a good one to sell.
13. I got an MOT, for the first time in ten years!!!
14. Whose is the Corrado in Bristol in the Daily Mail? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5868999/Scores-Bristol-residents-parking-fines-putting-cars-driveways.html

Warning Triangle

Sorted now, gumtree came good. Thanks
16. There was a full passenger door on ebay the other day, that's how I managed to find a scraper seal! Then watched guides on youtube of how to remove them first so I didn't wreck it.

Warning Triangle

Anyone got a boxed warning triangle to fit in the rear seat they want to sell? Cheers
19. So after close to ten years I believe we're just about to go back on the road, of course there are things still to do but isn't that Corrado ownership? Took some photos today for the insurance agreed valuation, couple of them here. Since it was last on the road, in no particular order, it's had: 288 front brakes OBD2 install Dave 16V short shifter and centre console bracket Shot blast & powdercoat front subframe, radiator support, rear beam, bottom arms, tank straps and bonnet stay Rear wiper delete Centre brake light Full glass out respray New windscreen All window, door, boot and sunroof seals Hard brake lines all replaced Disks, pads and brake backplates All wheel bearings R32 & Powerflex bushes in bottom arms Standard rear beam bushes ARB bushes and drop links Engine mounts Koni coilers serviced and dynoed, new Koni springs all round and rear platforms Golf Mk4 a/c condenser and pipework to replace hideous Passat item. Not yet re-gassed so the jury still out! Full leather re-trim by MJ Interiors New seat heating elements Rainbow DL speakers Plus a whole heap of sundry items along the way. I have no idea how much money I've spent and should probably keep it that way, it's not about the money after all! Some was recouped by selling the 17" Borbet C wheels, angel eye headlights and smoked rears plus the Schrick OBD1 inlet manifold when I did the OBD2 conversion, I have kept the Schrick 268 cams though as I like the lumpy idle and top end power. MOT later this week, sort the tracking, drive it a bit and see what falls off next!
20. M16 x 1.0. I took the nut off my spare rear wiper assy and screwed it onto the front one to check it was the same size.....then measured the rear one so I could get the thread gauge on it properly.
21. Today I collected the re-trimmed interior from Michael at MJ Interiors in Shipley. Can't say enough about his work, he's made a brilliant job and I would recommend him to anyone. I know that grey maybe isn't the most popular of colours but I like the way it lightens the interior of the car, and also that there aren't very many of them around. And after eighteen years already it's not like I'll ever sell it so I really don't need to consider what anyone else thinks, the eldest daughter has already requested we leave it her in the will so it's going nowhere! I spent the rest of the day fitting and fettling bits but ended on a low when the driver's seat wouldn't height adjust or recline, no power for some reason (first world problems eh?) so I gave up for the day and will come back to it tomorrow.
22. How’s this for service, I’ve put down my G&T, gone to the garage and removed a wiper to measure this......The nut is 22mm across the flats and the thread is M16x1, vernier calliper and thread gauge involved, and now going back to G&T!

schrick plumbing

My vacuum tank lives down with the horns behind the bumper, it's for the Climatronic but I used to use it for the Schrick too before I sold it. I mounted the solenoid on the bulkhead.
24. Glad to hear you found it!
