  1. Nose heavy? Oh you kids! I'd have a G60 for the charger...... but I'm sure I'll be happy with my VRT....
  2. I think you'll find you're missing 2 cylinders!
  3. DO SOME WORK! LOL! I've already said it once today but...... Funny funny man!
  4. PMSL!! :notworthy: Funny man! Nearest I've got to a side on shot.... probably no help at all is it!
  5. ROFL! I hadn't thought about that. I'll see what Amy says later, she'll be wanting to drive it around! And Mr Monkey, as an Oxford man I thought you'd know that in the present weather conditions the ruffle-neck is a strict no-no, unless worn with some form of smoking jacket. Of which mine is currently at the dry cleaners..... (you can't get the staff eh?!) For anyone able to take this thread seriously now I shall dig out a side on shot of my car if that'll help?
  6. I wasn't, but then I sold my steelies and put the silver speedlines back on and it got me thinking..... But now..... that pic you've just posted looks really good so I might leave them..... typical! Cheers for the help Jon, but I don't think the people of Cambridge are quite ready for a set of electric pink wheels..... won't go well with our polonecks and top hats....
  7. Any chance, as long as coullstar doesn't mind, that someone can do me a photoshop using these pics? (not sure which one will be most suitable though.) Basically I want to see what these Team Dynamics will look like as they are (black), in gun metal grey, and silver on an Aqua Blue. Can anyone help? p.s. sorry if this is in the wrong place.
  8. Bloody 'ell mate sounds like you're having a fun time at the moment. Maybe I should pop over and we can both have a moan about stuff! If you want a good stereo I've got one that I took out of mine a few weeks ago (got me a new blaupunkt) which is just in my way at the moment. There is nothing wrong with it, I just fancied a change. How did you jump start it? I'd just have a quick look through the fuses, sounds like just the one blown on the interior circuit.
  9. Yeah I'm definitely going to do it, closest track to me is Snetterton, and I think a load of the guys that went round the nurburgring are all thinking about it as well. I've ordered a full set of those Kuhmo's so we'll see how they fair. I did 4 laps of the ring on Goodyear Eagle F1's and they were very hot but didn't melt, guess that's down to the number of straights etc that give them chance to cool a bit. I remember dukest coming off there though with tyres so hot you could leave your finger prints in the rubber! Any more pics of on the track?
  10. So if you could start again Kev would you still do all the work you have to turbo the C or would you go for a 4motion as a good base? I admit I've often thought about it....
  11. Looking good mate. Really want to get my VR out on a track after my couple of laps round the ring in the summer. Out of interest, how do the Kumho's handle (except the melting!) out on the track? thinking of getting a set for my 17's.
  12. Agreed, my brother had them on his Bora and they are very firm for everyday use. Handled great though! Must admit I've been thinking about getting a 4motion, but not sure I could sell the C. But hopefully it'll do you well for what you need at the moment mate.
  13. good stuff mate, glad it's all sorted. As others have said, get some vids/pics up!
  14. Blimey, and it's not even my birthday till february........ Yeah gutted I had to pay, but it's done now and next time the MOT comes round i'll be more worried about the mechanics deciding to take it for a 'test drive' with the new mods. I did have to pay a surcharge for the Poloneck though :(
  15. Ended up being both steering rack gaiters replaced and a new rear number plate bulb. For that and the MOT it ended up being £189.33. Not the end of the world but could have done without it. Oh well, no spending on fun stuff this month. :(
  16. Good man. So what do people think the ideal tyre size for a 7Jx17 is? I've been looking at 205/40's for mine which gives almost the same rolling radius as the originals.
  17. had a look at the last Q in this thread Jon?? *cough*cough*
  18. So..... the Corrado failed it's MOT this morning! :( A couple gaitors and the rear number plate bulb (although me and the beige-boy-wonder did check those on saturday..) Also got a couple of advisories - front top mounts, but I already knew about this and felt like saying "actually it's the spring plates! " , both rear wheel bearings have a little play (isn't that how it's meant to be on the corrado?) and the exhaust is leaking where the cat back system joins. Plus, apparantly the engine is noisy on fast idle? Should that really be an advisory or is the guy just pointing out i might have an issue there? All good fun and should only be about £200 to put right.... hopefully!
  19. If it helps Rob, I'm not going R32. Good luck to you though Andy, knowing the standard of the rest of your car I'm sure it'll be a awesome machine once finished. :notworthy:
  20. Not sure I actually want to post in here.... but.... surely this is a tale as old as the automobile itself? From guys building hot rods, type4 motors in a Bus/Beetle, V8 engined Fiat 500's.... anything like this is done for the sake of doing it and that alone. If you genuinely wanted to keep a car standard, that's what you'd do. Surely swapping out a 12V for a 24V is no more or less in keeping with the car's origins than stripping down a 12V and fitting 263 cams and schrick manifold etc. Just because you've retained the 12V doesn't make difference in my eyes, it's still not how VW intended it (if that's what you're worried about). Back to the original question though, I think the two options of a charged VR or an R32 conversion comes down to what you want the car to be like at the end of the day, and I suspect that they'll be worlds apart in terms of driving experience. If I was you I'd get a drive in one of each and then make a decision. Every VRT or Supercharged guy is going to say do that, and a every R32 guy is going to say do that, But with both options the reliablity of each will be down to the quality of the work done. Purely my 2p's worth, flame away folks!
  21. Ah bum, thought it might be worth a shot. Have you checked the gap between the rotors and the sensor? I'm sure it's supposed to be about 1mm with a deviation of no more than something like +-0.5mm for the sensor to pick up the movement correctly..... Strange that the symptoms are identical to mine, but then I suppose all it's doing in both cases is tricking the ABS into action.
  22. Did you change the disks all round? I had similar symptoms to this on my VR recently mate, it ended up being that where I'd been playing with the rear disks and adjusting the ABS cages, they'd obviously bent a little bit out and had worked themselves loose when driving the car and were locking onto the magnet in the sensor. Might be worth a look maybe?
  23. I averaged 32mpg in my VR over the recent CF ring trip, 1100miles in all and there were points when we definitely were not hanging about..... Wendy?
  24. Right another weekend has passed, any more updates/progress Graham? Really looking forward to seeing this coming together,
  25. Went to fill up last night and Vpower is still 111.9 here in cambridge.... it makes me :pukeright: I'd almost consider it profiteering. Hopefully it'll come down over the weekend.
