the VR can be surprisingly economical if you're not booting it everywhere. Mr Supercharged and I went to the national day in my car, left cambridge with a full tank, did the 270 mile round trip at 75mpg pretty much all the way without stopping, filled up back near cambridge and had averaged 35.6mpg! Don't have quite as light a right foot most of the time though..... :norty:
-
Lets hope it keeps coming down for the 1200mile round trip to Karmann that people are heading off on soon. :D And there was me about the sell the C and get a Prius.......
-
So how much does an original set of Gayboy Racer 17's set you back this days? Quality!
-
Only time I've ever had white smoke like that it's been a head gasket starting to go. Have you checked for mayo in the oil filler cap, oil in the water and vice versa?
-
If you mean this sunday mate, I'm already trying to fix my own car, but the following weekend I've got a completely free one (i think) if that helps?
-
My god that looks awful! :pukeright: Only Kiddin! :norty:  (I know, I'm funny aren't I) Can't wait to see it in the flesh, gonna try to pop over to see you guys some time this week. Hopefully you'll be getting on with your plans quicker than Stu and me are with our cars!

I've heard diff pins can sometime go suddenly, noted by a funny noise when reversing, if you can catch it early I believe it is a fairly straight forward job to sort. If you don't thought it could wreck your gearbox! Hopefully its not that... :(

If you've got space to work mate I'm happy to come over and get my hands dirty.... might even help with the car as well! Seriously amazed the bolt grippers didn't work, mine have never failed to get a bolt off. Don't forget they are designed to chew up the old bolt as it takes it off. Just let me know! *edit* I've also never worked on a G60..... but it can't be that hard right?

Try here for a Linky! I've never been on a proper track so not sure which are best/longest etc but I'm hoping to get into it over the next year or so after recently doing a track day in a Subaru (birthday present, held on an airfield). I ahve spoken very briefly to people about organising a Corrado track day but I'm a bit to busy to sort it until after Christmas. But I'm happy to look into it for next summer if people are interested? 8)

VR6 Timing Chain Kit - Cheap Supplier From USA
mic_VR replied to MK1Campaign's topic in Suppliers Forum
is there a seal between the block and the chain covers, can't see one listed in the packs from fourseasons? -
I would love to get out on the track, been talking about it for ages. Tempted by the same thing but at Snetterton at the end of April. £119 but it's a whole day rather than an evening.
-
Ouch, never nice to get an ever increasing bill. Must admit I've been fairly lucky in that mine isn't a daily and, like the Boost-based-chimp himself, I'm happy to get under the car unless it needs specific tools to do. Plus quite a few guys on here have helped me out in the past. :D

Another one for ya mate! :D I know all those cars are people's pride and joy, but honestly! That mini 35, ruined a perfectly good and mod-able car. As for the corsa, 106 and Zetec ford...... none of them do it for me as standard let alone once they've bought the entire Carnoisseur catalogue.... :nono:

No shame in it, I'm on there. Good reference site for the VR engine. Plus lots of ideas for mods! -

So where are mrsbeige's pos about all this? Thought she'd be building a little hype ready for the grand unveiling at the weekend? Or is she going to get herself on VR6oc.com instead? -

Guess it was about time one of you got a car with a proper engine! :D Can't wait to see it mate. -
Sounds about right, I've lived with it for the last few months. Think I'd better get some early mounts!
-
Ah pants! Having read through this thread, and looking at the pictures, I think I've fitted mine with early spring caps but late mounts. Think that could be what's giving me a knocking noise when turning the steering wheel....... Do you have a part number/price for the early top mounts mate?

Not sure, never been a fan of sale cars at shows as people try to bump the prices up. Entry is £15 for the day, which is a bit steep (i'd rather drive to BVF if anywhere!), but it might come down to on the day for me as the weather is looking cr@p over the weekend. I'm happy to go looking at cars with you anyway if needs be mate. -

Thinking about the ABF lump eh? Shove some KR cams in it and it'll be good for 175bhp! Very nice sir :salute: If you guys are thinking about going to GTi-fest let me know as I might be making the effort as well. -
Yeah you're probably right, plus that would force me to get my finger out and finish the conversion! The disks are indeed 5 stud, but the pads will fit the 280 calipers/carriers (which will also be up for sale soon) As above, sorry for hijack!
-
If you can wait a week or two you can have my 280mm Brembo max fronts and mintex extreme pads off me? Very good combination, only taking off as fitting 288's. Only done about 3K on them so loads of life!

Hunting around for you mate but it's not looking hopefull at the moment, unless you'd like to travel (maybe worth getting folks off here to pre-view if poss). And as for the post '96 OBD2 VR6's, i've been hunting around and I can't find anything else saying that they made 190bhp as standard. Is this not just a bit of an urban legend? Told by OBD2 owners to OBD1 owners! I'll be keeping my eyes peelled sir :salute: -
