3corsameal i've got the exact same ultra gt setup to you and mine looks level. But slightly off topic, does yours make any funny noises on lock to lock? Mine makes a clunking noises when moving from lock to lock and didn't really want to take it back to pieces again as it doesn't seem to effect anything in the actually working of the suspension. Just seems to make a noise.... :( Its made the handling miles better though! :D

My passenger side door seems to have gone kaput and I've got my MOT on wedsday :( Think it must be to do with this door kit as it still opens from inside but obviously its an MOT failure if it won't open from inside. Can you help me dave asap???? -

Yandards' Nugget G60 - gone but not forgotten..
mic_VR replied to Yandards's topic in Members Gallery
Nice find there mate. As everyone else has said, loving the Nugget yellow! 8) -
If you're interested, the song is 'The beep beep song' by Simone White Northgate VW had borrowed the white R8 from the bury st edmonds audi dealers for a meet they held the other week, and although the colour wasn't the best it is still an awesome piece of kit and the sound it made was incredible. I think mrbeige got a video of it running?

I did test it a little while ago on Vag-com and it didn't show up any errors, although i didn't run the car for long with it on. It was the blue temp one I changed, although I have been thinking of changing the others as my fan isn't working on speed 1 at the moment so maybe I'll just change all at the same time. And unfortunately, I've lost my plug lead remover at the moment so can't check those. I guess I need to do a bit more investigation on the usual suspects really.....
-
Hope not, i've only just changed that! :( But I know they can just go without warning. Once it's actually started it seems to run completely fine, whether hot or cold, just seems to have trouble starting sometimes....

looking good Stu, i'll have to get you to paint mine when it comes out! :)

Evenin' all Had an issue with my VR for the last few weeks where it won't always start first time. From dead cold it seems to start the first time you turn the key, but then a lot of the time it might take 2/3 trys to start it. To start with it was only doing this about once a week, but now it seems to do it almost everytime i'm in the car and seems worse if the car is warm. It happened at the summer scorcher when Dinkus was in the car and he said something about fuel pressure regulator, can anyone (Dom?) ellaborate on this or offer up some other possible issues it might be? All help appreciated as usual Cheers, Mic

What toad said! Just done this on my VR and believe me the hardest point is the new races into the new disks, outers are fairly easy with a 50mm drift but the inner (larger ones) were a nightmare on mine. Could be worth taking to a garage or metalwork workshop, I got mine pressed in at a local metalwork fabricators. 2 best tips I got when I did mine (thanks Supercharged) was to invest in a set of Irwin bolts grippers and a calliper wind back tool, about £20 for each but both awesome bits of kit and made the job so much easier. The rear carrier bolts can tend to round out so but the bolt grippers will get those off in seconds, and the calliper pistons need to be wound back quite a long way if the old pads were worn right down. Good luck with the new braking mate.

I've got the same on the front, but a black vw and corrado on the back with a chrome vr6 Must say mate, your car is looking sweet! 8)
-
I want one!!!!!
-
Just go for the VR6! You're only doing 8000ish miles a year so the difference in fuel costs/mpg between a mk2 and corrado will be about £50 in the year. The VR6 will last forever if looked after properly, mine has done 126k now and still runs like a dream. You'll have to do the same level of maintenance as you would with a m2k golf but believe me they are a couple of leagues above once you actually drive it. Rust doesn't tend to be an issue but check the usual places ie. arches, fuel filler, door edges etc etc I've had loads of mk2s and i'd never go back. The VR6 is an awesome machine. Oh and welcome BTW!

If you've got one that'll be great. I'm off to norwich on sunday so I can drop it all back then if you like?
-
Yes mate I'll be at northgate on thursday so if you're coming along and don't mind me borrowing that 'tool' it would be much appreciated. BTW - I got myself a set of those bolt grippers, awesome bit of kit. Got those rear calliper bolts off in seconds. I'll order some new abs cages as well.
-
Tom, I've got a vice but it's not big enough to get the disk in an get good even pressure. Kev, good idea with the old races. Think I'll have a got at that later. I've also put the races in the freezer and I'll warm the disks in the oven (without telling the gf) later. An old trick but it might help. Other issue i've realised is that I need to get the cages for the abs sensors off the old disks, haven't had a close look at it yet but I assume they just clip on?? Cheers for the help guys

Evening all Been trying to replace the rear disks and pads on my VR for the last few weeks with a multitude of issues, the most recent of which is that you have to replace the rear wheel bearings at the same time as he disks and pads. So i've got all the parts I need but I'm having trouble getting the new races into the new disks. I've drifted the smaller outer race in without much issue but the larger inner ones are being a right pain. Anyone got any tips or tricks? Cheers

VR Timing Chains Replace at mileage or on condition? Discuss
mic_VR replied to Yandards's topic in Engine Bay
just out of interest, how much would all the parts you need to replace chains, guides, tensioners etc etc if you were going to do this job yourself? -
''Never before has one man had so many wheels!'' - (said in american narrator voice)
-
I do like them Rob but......... I'm not 100% sure. Think a darker colour would suit your car more. The problem with that is that everyone has their own views. If you like it then thats the main thing (wait till you see my new wheels - think I'm going to get a very mixed reaction), I think everyone is just so used to seeing your brocks which were pretty awesome in the scheme of things! 8)
