That looks very interesting, thanks. Also thanks to the other advice - I'm discounting the Dremel now. I'll report on how the bucket of water and battery charger system works :)
-
I have a set of 288 calipers to install and they are in need of de-rusting etc. Is the Dremel tool up to the job ? Or too small and underpowered ? And what about the 10.8 V Li-Ion battery model ? Anyone used that ?? How does it compare to the mains models ?

Damnit

I had a 'groaning' noise from my rear brakes when reversing - and tracked it down to the handbrake mechanism on the offside brake not releasing - not exactly seized, but stiff enough to not release. A spray with WD40 and a few hand-brake on/offs fixed it. Just a thought.

That's disheartening :( :( I agree it does look as if it's been done by a tow-bar - and it 'may' be possible that if it was a big 4x4 noisy diesel people carrier type, then it's just possible that they may not have been aware that they had reversed into you. I know that's a long-shot, but ... ... ... And, as has been mentioned, some bodyshops can seem to work wonders in stretching out plastic bits. On a positive note, tho, I'm pleased to see that your nice shiny VR6 badge seems to have survived unscathed :) ( In-joke ! )

16" Sport Radar - 9.4 Kg with no tyre. 18 Kg with ( well-worn ) tyre and air. 15" Speedline - 7.7 Kg with no tyre. 15.8 Kg with ( well-worn ) tyre and air. Incidently - a 288mm brake disc comes in at 5.7 Kg. Just in case anyone is interested.

'fully sealed' ?? So no need for any maintenence at all ??
-
I'll keep an eye on this thread too - I'm seriously considering getting some KWs in the near future.

I tried to take a pic under the car today, but no real luck. Couldnt really tell if there was any weld or not.
-
Looks very clean n there - much more than mine !! Coupla questions - : - where have you put the battery, and how big a job was it ? - what is the little round black 'thingy' with a lime green middle mounted just forward of the driver's side suspension top ?

Here you go - taken at GTi International this year.

I have a rear blade similar to the one shown - fits on a standard C rear arm - and I'm not that impressed with it to be honest. It wipes ok, but it just doesn't look as 'neat' as the converted C arms I've seen. Easier to fit, though.
-
I don't know - maybe it's a 'front' Lupo arm ?? Hopefully one of the members who have done this will respond.
-
There are at least a couple of Corrados around where the 'blade' end of a Lupo arm has been welded to the 'pivot' end of an original C rear arm - looks good. Another item on my 'to do' list.
-
I believe it IS a 'use-once' bolt - although I know that some garages don't abide by that.
-
Ta for the compliment - I'm very Independant, thank you. But I guess I should admit to being a Daily Mail reader ! The blades keep 100% contact, thanks to the new blade design - so superior to the oem ones.
-
Here are a few more pics - hope it's all useful for anyone :)

I'll take a couple more pics tomorrow, showing the o/s wiper, and if I can be really clever, the swept area. I intend having a look at the TT wipers because the Lupo wipers do sit a bit high and in view where they pivot - that's me being a bit fussy, lol. Mind you, having gone to all this trouble, I only really use the wipers around town and when driving slow. Rainex enables me to drive in rain at anything above 45 'ish without having to bother with the wipers :) Magic stuff !!

Here is a pic showing the passenger blade, from a Passat. It may look as if it' catches on the edge of the windscreen, but it just stays on the glass. I'm not sure how the dimensions will work if fitted to a TT blade, however. If anyone wants the part number. let me know.
