John-M replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
Can you PM me with payment details etc for a pair of door-handle repair kits, please, including postage @ '94 Reg, '95 model VR Thanks -
Just found this thread :) Makes me realise just how much I'd like to be doing to mine - but it's my daily drive/only car :( Admirable attention to detail tho' - makes me want to keep mine away from the public eye, lol.

I've owned a few different cars in my time, and the Corrado is one the few where you get recognition waves from other C drivers. :) Used to happen when I had an Escort RS too.
-
you mean you come to leeds and dont say anything! i live like an hour from leeds (which in my eyes isnt much seen as i have to drive an hour to see a motorway!) and you dont say lol Leeds to Scarborough in an hour ?? Impressive :)

If you take the blade you want to replace to the local VW dealer, he will almost certainly have one in stock - the blades on some Mk IV Golfs are similar, as are some Passat blades.

I have a similar problem, but on the passenger side. Checked for leaf build-up, and the door seal. No problems. Heater matrix was replaced recently, and there's no water loss. It seems to be fine for a few weeks - then it's back. Have now removed the whole of the passenger side carpet etc - hopefully I'll be able to 'see' where it's coming from next time.
-
Mine were getting a bit streaky, so took the blade into my dealers to see if new rubbers were available - they said not. :( I should have some of the part numbers somewhere - let me know if you need 'em. Edited : I'm away from 10th - 20th March

Nods - similar to 'Ah' or 'are' instead of 'I'll' or 'I'm', as in 'Are speak to you later.' Grrr
-
Kurzy, did you get my second IM ??
-
I'm interested if you have any left. PM sent.

Stan24 was correct - my VR does now have a 4Motion 2.8 24V engine fitted. Have been neglecting this forum for too long :( Still, spring is just around the corner, time to continue the tidy-up - it so needs it .
-
I'm just about in need - again - of replacement rear wheel bearings. Are there any alternatives to the VW taper-style bearings ? Why taper bearings anyway ? Are ALL rear wheel bearings taper-style ?? Edited: Just read other threads covering this. Will fit genuine VW bearings and research 280/Mk4 mods for next time !

Well done - looks pretty damn good. Keep us up-to-date with progress ! -
A 'posted' list is a great idea - hopefully my name will be there somewhere, having shown interest in getting one of these looms in this thread a number of times.

Thanks for the posts. I'll double check my readings and post them so you can see why I'm a wee bit concerned that something aint right :( -
Speedometer / Rev counter correlation - readings wanted
John-M replied to John-M's topic in Drivetrain
OK, ta. Any of the others will do fine - anything at 500 rpm bounderies will be useful -

OK :) Can you let me know what any of your readings are ? Thanks -
Speedometer / Rev counter correlation - readings wanted
John-M replied to John-M's topic in Drivetrain
Yes I can. The 24V engine seems more flexible low down. But it has replacement instruments and I'm not completely sure about their accuracy, hence the request for other forum menbers' readings. Can anyone post their readings, please ? -
I'd be very gratefull if anyone with a late (94/95) VR with standard gear ratios and standard wheels/tyres would post the following details for me, please :- Speedo reading at 1,000 rpm in 5th Speedo reading at 1,500 rpm in 5th Speedo reading at 2,000 rpm in 5th Speedo reading at 2.5000 rpm in 5th and any greater rpm figures you are able to get - om private roads of course !! In case you are wondering why, my indicated speed at 2,000 rpm is NOT twice that at 1,000 and there seems to be some inconsistencies :( Most puzzling - any observations welcome. Does anyone know what the speed per 1,000 in 5th is 'supposed' to be ? J

Thanks for that - emissions knowledge seems to be a bit of a black art :) Anyone else any thoughts ?? btw, you claim to be the original John M - are we talking about in life or 'in here' ?? Grins
