Has anyone received their EBAY "audioscape" £120 pods yet?
bananawhip replied to mariojoshi's topic in Suppliers Forum
i got some of the 150 quid ebay jobs a few months ago and I´d be telling fibs if I said I was overly impressed with the build quality, not too great imo -
Looks good to me, definitely agree that an MOT helps and from reading the thread unless I've missed it I can't find if you cleared up the timing chain questions, At that mileage if they haven't been done then it's an immediate expense for anyone interested which may put people off

When you say rear calipers do you mean the handbreak mech or just the bolts, if it's the bolts then you should be able to free them up. Even if you do though they're still a pain so mk4's are a great alternative and weigh a bit less. You'd need calipers and carriers, and the mk2-mk4 hose that goodridge make as a special part for petrolheads like us :)

That link didn't work but yes it will fit

MK2 Golf 1.3? I've got a 1.4 Pug 306 for running about in, cost £400 and it's been absolutely faultless for a year now believe it or not

Looks like everyone's got a point, although I am a big fan of the C's cheeky rear end antics :) I've already managed to spin mine on a roundabout on normal tyres all round so I'd be asking for trouble by the looks of it. Thanks for the opinions people, LSD it is then

Yeah yeah I know, just not the most exciting thing to put on a shopping list :)

Yeah I've got Toyo T1r's on my standard set of wheels, I'm pretty such set on some R888's but it's mainly the front and back thing I'm worried about. Just don't want the car to become unusable if I upgrade the front only.
-
How much of a good idea is it to run Toyo R888's on the front only? I have a huge problem with traction at the moment and I'm not only too tight to buy an LSD but also too tight to buy R888's all round, how would my car handle on track with R888's on the front only? Does anybody have any experience? Are we talking lift off oversteer buy the bucket load or a nice tight turn in and better traction out of corners? I'm only doing the fronts as I have 2 spare wheels and I'll be using them for drag also. Any opinions?

I'm not enough of a chav to drive around with it open constantly but it's nice to have it on tap if I want it. Stumbled upon a little traffic light Grand Prix the other night, 3 lanes, civic type R on the far left, Astra VXR on the far right, I invited myself to join their mundane little rev-off in the middle lane, pulled up sounding like a creamy refined German cruiser, flicked the switch, did my best impression of an american muscle car, then proceeded to pull their pants down when the lights turned green..too much fun :D

http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/index.php I absolutely love it, nice bit of extra power and the soundtrack of godzilla on crack! Coolest thing I've fitted in a long time, youtube it for an idea of the sound

Can't take a direct feed as the motor will continuously draw current and run the battery down, feed to the head unit is an ignition feed same as nearly all head units, that would be perfect but as using the QTP is not road legal I quite like it being a bit harder to switch in case the rozzers have a look :) Anyways I took it all apart again and all surrounding looms, jiggled them about and it's all fixed  loose connection somewhere :brickwall: No more arm signals you'll be pleased to hear :)

Live wire was blue, (only live when lights are on) Earth was brown Cos I know nothing about electrics and it seemed a good idea at the time :) If it's a plug just sitting there doing absolutely nothing I don't see what harm it can do? Must've been something that lights up as that's what the live feed was from, maybe a spare plug for the optional gauges, do they light up? Whatever it was I didn't need it
-
I haven't spliced into the circuit, I took the astray out as I was going to use the plug into the tray light as it's mo most expendable feed, then to my delight I found a plug just sitting behind it doing nothing, probably off an extra the my car never had. I cut the plug off, then stripped the wires and connected to my switch, now I have this delightful fault
-
Anybody? Is there anywhere the hazards, indicators, and horn meet that could be at fault?
-
I think thay just assume that everyone's also running 90% nitromethane top fuel and Hoosier drag tyres :D Yours can't be too far off that though surely Kev?

Has anybody seen this website http://www.torquestats.com It's got a pretty cool modified section which you can make a portfolio of your car on, unfortunately when you put in the power and weight it guesses the performance, it's been fairly generous to mine :D Anyways it's absolutely full of Fiat Coupe's, lets get some nice C's on people :)

Wired a switch in the other day for my exhaust cut out, found a spare plug behind the ashtray so cut it off and wired the switch in, one wire is earth and the other is live but only when the lights are on. Since then I've lost my indicators, hazards, and horn, fuses look ok, don't know which relay to check but it's really spoiling me having fun with my new toy...any ideas what could be up? I didn't bother to unplug the battery when I fitted it and also probably touched the opposite wires together by mistake, I hate electrics so any help would be super smashin' great :)

Carbon Fibre bonnets only just about get away with being left black, paint and vinyl I would say a definite no no, roof might look pretty cool though

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
bananawhip replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I've never posted in this thread before as I don't want to bore everyone with numerous updates on various jobs here and there, I've been tempted loads of times, came close when the Carbon bonnet went on, but today I can't hold back my excitement  I fitted a Quick Time Performance Exhaust cut-out and it absolutely rocks my world!!!! Obviously opening a butterfly which dumps all of your exhaust gases on to the road rather then bother with the exhaust pipe loses back pressure and therefore low down torque, but the top end power gain is noticeable, and the sound!! Genuinely sounds like a 'Vette with a straight through exhaust, no more traffic light grand prix ever needed, just flick the switch and physically shake the Type R sitting next to you with the smug looking driver, unbelievable fun, peoples faces at bus stops are classic! For an idea I'm pretty sure a vid was posted up on the forum rolling road day of a yank car with one fitted. I'm like a kid at Christmas, I'll shut up now and stop getting carried away :D -
At the end of the day writing a generic map takes a matter of hours from what I gather, if a specific map is just an afternoon on the dyno then how do they justify the price tag by putting a generic one on a chip that costs them next to nothing. Chips cost like $100 in the U.S, if they cost £50-£100 quid over here then people would be less inclined to buy them off eBay, they don't unfortunately so needs must.
-
I don't understand why people keep bringing up the price of it :confused4: It is a copy of a much much more expensive chip, whether it costs £1 or £400 it is still a remap on a chip, simple as Obviously it is a lot of bang for your buck as it costs £380 less then it should
-
Yep I've got one, sounds nice and looks nice but I didn't fit it for anything other then that, probably makes 0.25 bhp on a good day with the right head wind and the moon passing over jupiter etc etc Seen them pop up on ebay cheap recently but I'm not too sure on them, for a start they should have "By Bonrath PR-17 PRO" written on the top of them which these ones don't seem to, dunno if you can make it out from the pic of mine engine bay 001.JPG[/attachment:1brpjzxy]
