Looks super mint, really like it, nice pics of it lurking about in the bushes :) P.s, Reckon you should get Solitudes not speedlines, although the Speedlines IMO look nicer you'll forever have people questioning the Storm badges

Corrado in Top gear Big Book Now with pics of it
bananawhip replied to Swompy's topic in General Car Chat
   I'm just as bad, bought an xbox 360 just to drive the Corrado in Forza 2 :) -
Sounds like a bit of a billy bargain to me mate, wish I'd found something like that before I got mine
-
Give up smoking and sell the Supercharger to me, fit a turbo instead then drive everywhere like your pants are on fire, that'll take your mind off the stress of buying a new house :)
-
You are right I probably will be hankering for more before long, it just seems that every new car these days has 250bhp so the magic number of 300 really appeals to me, I'd be lying though if I said it would stop there :) Maybe Turbo needs more consideration on my part.. Thanks PHILMO for the Aquamist explanation, makes perfect sense really, maybe all this F/I malarky isn't as scary as first thought.
-
Thought that bit was a bit wishful As I say though I'm clueless about these things and as such Turbo's scare me, messing about with head gaskets for compression and short runner manifolds, intercoolers etc etc Supercharging seems like something I could do in an afternoon, in the sun, ipod playing, cold beer in hand...aaahh bliss :)

Thanks for the reply that's very reassuring, I've already bypassed my TB, fitted a 13 row mocal with an extended pipe to keep my OEM oil/water exchange, used DEI insulating tape on the underneath of my inlet manifold, fitted a newsouth inlet gasket, samco's and plastic rocker cover, by the sounds of it then I could afford to squeeze out another 50bhp without things getting overly hot, don't have Aquamist though and if I'm honest I don't really know what it is...I'm a complete newbie when it comes to forced induction :)
-
Here's a question then... I like the idea of an easy stage 1 install, standard injectors, fuel pump, no intercooler etc Maybe even get away without a map depending how it runs. Problem is I've already got 236bhp NA, would that mean I'd jump straight to closer to 300bhp and struggle with fuelling etc, I'd love to easily bolt on a charger for a bit of extra poke but I get the impression I've gone past the point of no return with the NA stage I've tuned to already..is this right?

No both the oil and water are looking good, header tank pressurised last time I checked but can't really diagnose much now unfortunately. Cooler was mounted on the radiator just behind the front grill I did find that post but unfortunately it doesn't shed much light, my cooler does look just as destroyed though. I'm tempted to change the pump and probably will but it's £120 that I'd rather keep in my pocket if mines in good health...Aaaaahhhhhh bloody Corrado's!!!!! Thanks for the reply's though, I'm really banging my head against the wall at the moment :brickwall:

Right I'm a step further but still desperate for help, surely someone must know something?? I took my oil pump off today, put a little screwdriver through the hole where I think the pressure relief valve lives and the spring compresses with a medium amount of force I'd say, does this sound like the valve and pump are ok? Really worried what may have caused my high oil pressure but that is if I believe what the oil cooler people tell me which I'm not sure I do, if my relief valve moves freely does it sound like my pressure was fine but the cooler was defective? Please somebody help, the car is in bits and I miss it :(

In all honesty I think most comments are in jest, mine are a bit of a pain but I'd never want to go back to standard. They look and sound so much better. All I've got is some Infinity 6.5's up front, and I replaced the original blown 6x4 nokia speakers in the back for some JBL jobs of the same size and it sounds great, no real extra weight, cutting parcel shelves, wiring etc I'd say buy them but then as always I'm biased :)
-
I've had to put my hand on the pavement before but it's all worth it My girlfriend gets it in the ear if she scuffs them getting in :)

Sounds like they've been done as the tensioner and guide rails have been, random that the flywheel needed replacing though as you would've thought that would last 200k. Good thing about buying at that milage and with good history is that a lot of the big jobs should've been done, stuff like head gaskets, chains, axle bushes, clutches, water pumps, coils etc should be a distant memory. Just keep an eye on stuff like oil, fuel, and ABS pumps, master cylinders, etc. The gear selector cable can get brittle and snap at that milage although the replacement item is better. Compression may be worth checking depending on bore wear and if the piston rings have been changed, but you may well be fine for a while yet. As Grey16 mentioned the rear calipers are rubbish and seize but that can happen at any time, the mk4 golf item is a great replacement if they go. I'm sure you'll be fine as long as no noises or signs get ignored, as you've said it's got a great history so just enjoy it. Welcome to the forum and I hope you have many years motoring left in your new toy :D

That list can't be right, if so then it indicates people are trading in all sorts including Aston Martin DB7's among other things, my friend is a mobile body repair guy and saw 2 Corrado's in one day whilst based at an Audi dealer in West London. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in triple figures by now, you only have to have a look on pistonheads to see how many are for sale at any one time.
-
Cheers it's appreciated, no worries if not though I'll just do what I normally do and wing it :D
-
Thanks that would be pretty cool, just a quick glance to see if it says anything about servicing the valve or what oil pressures should be, I'm a bit gutted to say the least as everything was running so well :(
-
After having a search and a bit of a read it seems that I could be at fault if my oil pressure relief valve has gone, how can I check this? I've got the sump off already and I'm assuming taking the pump off is easy enough? If it is the relief valve can this be purchased seperately from the pump? If anyone knows a price and supplier then that would rock

I have managed to blow a 16 row oil cooler and the suppliers are refusing to cover it under warrenty! They say it's rated to 7 bar but I've managed to surpass that?! Does that sound likely? I have an 80k engine in what I think is good health, no real smoke, Oil is changed every 3k, it get's driven fairly hard but is well taken care of. What could cause such high oil pressure and who do the forum think is liable for it? Car was driving absolutely fine and pulling really hard just before it let go on the M1! It has blown 2 old rubber water pipes in the past 6 months so I don't know if this is realted, they're Samco now though so not a problem anymore Peoples opinion would be massively appreciated as I don't know where I stand, Do you think the 16 row size could be a factor as I was tempted by a 13 row Help :confused4:

This scrappage thing is really winding me up, since when was throwing away perfectly good cars and replacing them with bigger and heavier alternatives any good for anyone! Buying a brand new car is a waste of money, everyones always known that. So now the plan is to get Joe Bloggs to hand in his completely acceptable car and wax a load of money on a new one! Given that you'd lose more then you got from scrapping your car, in depreciation as soon as you left the forecourt it seems like the only winners are the car firms :brickwall:

got some sp263's on the way so shopping list help please !!!
bananawhip replied to millerman's topic in Engine Bay
I'd like to see how that looked as mine's not as shiny as I would like, unfortunately it'll still hold heat but it really is debatable how much. I've only got so carried away with keeping things cool as I track mine, and all my mates have got S3's and R32's so every last pony counts :) Plastic cam covers can normally be found for about £20, lots of golf owners will do a swop for a metal one though, form or function really between the 2 -

No worries let me know if I can help, fitted mine fairly recently although I nailed a crate of beer whilst doing it so my memory probably isn't as crisp as I would like :) Got my Newsouth gasket from Awesome GTI, Didn't realise DG did one too though. Powdercoating your manifold will look extremely cool but will hold more heat in. Although I suppose with an insulating gasket it won't matter as much -

Congrats  You're going to absolutely love them!! A new cam sensor is essential as they tend to snap when taking them off the old cam, don't cost much either. Mine was a low milage engine so I didn't bother with new tappets but if I had the chance again I'd maybe be inclined to as mine sounds a touch tappity now, about £100 for a new set. Oil change wouldn't hurt after they've bedded in a bit, that's all I bothered with, didn't either get a map and I'm still getting awesome results, just depends how serious and how much money you want to spend. I did fit a newsouth phenolic gasket and insulted the underside of my manifold now I think of it, but I get carried with random little ideas that probably have no real gain :D -
Every time I buy a new car I swear by putting a full can of Ecotek Powerboost through it to help decoke the insides, I know people will be sceptical but I always notice a difference. Agree completely with Henny's suggestions although I was under the impression that VW exhausts flowed well from standard anyway, I might be wrong but it's maybe an expense that could be avoided. I'd be more inclined to put the money towards a lightweight flywheel as it'll help the engine respond a lot quicker to building or losing revs. For the induction kit I can't recommend the BMC CDA enough, open type cones run the risk of heat soak and have been known to quite often make no difference or worse actually lose power over standard.
-
I remember that, not sure enough early one's were ordered for anyone to produce them, might be wrong though
-
Mike definitely makes the later ones as standard, not sure if he did a run of early ones, go on the website and his contact details are on there.
