I bet 95% of forum users will tell you to get a remap but I'm making good power without, should've really taken you out in mine at the meet so you could see how it went. They'll be fine without but just budget it for the future if you want the best out of them, my only gripe with a remap is it's like admitting that your finished tuning it, I can't see me ever getting to that stage :)
  6. Thanks for the help Toad you've made my life a lot easier. Hadn't seen that guide before, whoever that dude is he sure know's how to ruin the look of a perfectly good Schrick :D
  7. Couldn't agree more, they get a bad rap for some reason but they look better, sound better, and have maybe a slight power gain over the oem one
  8. I know the one, crappy black plastic thing, both nipples have green plastic covers on them, can I choose either nipple and just plug it in?
  9. Trying to fit my Schrick manifold and for the life of me I have no idea where to connect the vacuum hose which is supposed to go on to the brake servo? All the other bits are self explanatory but I quite simply have no spare little nipple bits I can find on my car to fit the vacuum hose to, any advice or (even better) pics would be massively appreciated. Schrick's own instructions are as much use as a chocolate kettle
  10. That's exactly what it's all about, correcting things that VW didn't quite get right, stuff that hasn't aged too well, or parts that were omitted due to cost
  11. That's a cool picture but the modified one is too modified for my taste, I'd have to say standard too
  12. Thats just made me throw up :pukeright:
  13. Ford Focus = Bucket of s**t ...Not sure I've got the hang of it :)
  14. Modified or standard?... If buying then it would have to be tastefully modified with FSH, I would take a C with coilovers and Schimmels for example over one without as they're fairly essential IMO and it would save the expense. Owning...My car looks, handles, go's, stops, and sounds better then standard after a lot of time, effort, and money so a standard one would really do very little for me.
  15. I drove an S2 ten years ago and it felt like a rocket ship! Be interesting to drive one now I bought my first C (1.8 16v) off a mate that had just got a 2.0 16v Audi Coupe, Had a little race and the C battered the Audi, still like them though and agree they're a cool car for not much money, perfect little track toy
  16. I was thinking that a bit, just doesn't look quite right although it's got little scores in it that looks like chain wear. Can't do much other then reassemble everything and cross my fingers
  17. Thanks for the quick replies, I'm feeling better already, had visions of it being something indicating imminent destruction! Yep had them done, and incidentally my top tensioner had snapped/worn down to the rivets so it's all starting to make sense
  18. 002.JPG[/attachment:3cajhw89] Does anybody know what this is? I found it when I opened up my oil pump, just dropped out but it could've been trapped in the pick up gauze not in the cogs inside. My guess is the trailing edge of the top chain tensioner, it seems to be made from a plastic type material, anybody got any other suggestions, it's worried me to say the least
  19. Right some of them are m6 nuts, part number 021133915b Some of them are m6 bolts, part number n90508101 Put all the plastics where they should be and look at what you need, hopefully this is enough info for you to get it sorted P.S, Don't hold me to those part numbers but they should be right, check with your parts man first
  20. Ha, yeah I confused myself when writing it, was hard to put it in words but I meant the bit that extends over the mouth of the manifold up to the throttle body, the bit of plastic attached to the top guide and not the bottom one. Anyway you need all 3 bits and the bit that goes on the side and covers the coil pack, they all clip/screw together to a certain extent and all use the same multi-spline M6 type bolts, around 7ish bolts off the top of my head but I may be wrong.
  21. Congrats!!! As long as you're happy it's worth every penny, £500 off and it's mint so it sounds like a top result
  22. You will need a handful of bolts, they're a Torx type drive and probably still available from VW for not much money, you could bung other bolts in for now but it will look a bit naff. The engine cover also relies on you having the bottom lead cover/guide which I'm assuming you have? Looks like the top one you have already just without the big swoopy bit at the top
  23. I wouldn't say that, it's just a waiting game. I remember when mk1's were all over the place, you could pick up a mint late gti for £1500, now it's closer to 6k! Although serious Jags go for serious money so we don't have a chance on that one. Equally campers and beetles used to be rust buckets cluttering up the road, we all know what silly money proper ones go for now. I do agree on the modified versus standard debate, just not worth messing about with anything these days unless your selling to someone who directly appreciates the work you've put in. Even then there's an element of trust that the modifications are carried out to a proffessional standard. When mines up for sale I'm returning to standard and selling all the cool bits to lovely forum users who will appreciate them :D
  24. I like that, it's completely true, we shouldn't have to drop prices to compete with the clueless sellers that don't appreciate what they have, not to put off potential owners but people are getting absolutely shafted when selling their C's at the moment and it's pretty much up to us to not let it happen
  25. When I lived in Weymouth I used a garage called TAG engineering, bloke that owns it called Toby loves everything VAG. Really really honest and super cheap prices (replaced chains, clutch etc and some other bits £300 labour!!) I still use him now and I live in London, not the most enthusiastic Mechanic and he probably won't fill you with much confidence but trust me when I say there's a genius in there somewhere :)
