  1. Has anybody been to the Nordschleif in early November? I went in March and it was good as gold just a bit of fog in the mornings, went again in june and it was lovely weather but closed quite a bit, people wouldn't stop crashing unfortunately which I thought was rather impolite of them. There seems to be a good group of tourist days in a row at the start of November but I have no experience of the conditions, anybody have any idea? Need another few laps before the end of the year.
  2. That's more up my street, I'll check 'em out, thanks
  3. That looks the business but probably a bit more then I wanted to spend if I'm honest, might have to bite the bullet though as it's exactly what I want
  4. Anybody recommend a nice car cover for my C, one that fits well, isn't a mare to fit, doesn' scratch or scuff the paintwork etc Cheers
  5. Thats what I opted for, a rather lovely looking liquid filled Marshall jobbie, Grabbed it off U.S ebay for a bit of a steal :)
  6. Thanks for the advice, I'll try and get it somewhere solid but I might not have too much choice, I'll have a tinker :)
  7. Be aware that it can often be cheaper to buy the sandwhich plate from Mocal then buy the actual cooler from a different reputable company, that gives you the option to also choose your own hose length and ends depending on where you plan to fit it, rather then a kit. Bit more work but you can save an easy £50
  8. If I stop and think about it for too long my eyes glaze over and I dribble a bit :pukeright: Then I batter some wannabe footballer in a TT out the lights and it makes me happy again
  9. Thats a bit of a releif then I thought I was just being a bit of a show off, Standard rail and FPR so I'm guessing just pop it on the top hose next to the rocker cover for best results?
  10. Right I've got a lovely looking fuel pressure gauge that I want to permanently fit under my bonnet, I know leaving them plumbed in is dangerous, I know really it needs to be in the dash to view whilst driving to make any sense, I know I'm a bit sad for buying it, but I love gauges staring at you when you pop the bonnet and I have no reason for an adjustable FPR. So cut a long story, does it make more sense to fit it inline of my send pipe to measure the healthiness of my fuel pipe (will it affect flow), or my return pipe so it measures my pump and also my FPR (guessing it should read 3bar unless at idle) ??? Advice needed If anyone can think of a more boring question then I'll personally send them a Kit-Kat peanut butter Chunky Thanks
  11. That makes me feel better, probably just look nicer then mine as the whole car is substantially tidier looking then mine :) Anyways mine have grown on me since I started this post, they aren't broke so I'm not gonna fix 'em Wallet placed firmly back in pocket
  12. See those 2 pics tell me a couple of things, firstly that the Teledials are much nicer looking then the 5 spokes. And secondly that I need the 16" versions as my 15's look a bit poo. Thanks for the feedback everybody
  13. Maybe it's just me then but the first thing I do is look into what other marques wheels will fit, I love keeping it OEM even if it's from another manufacturer. Sometimes I think a set of wheels from an independent company can look really cheap and ruin a car if not chosen correctly. Even to the point where I used to play Gran Turismo 4 I'd only ever buy wheels from the OEM section :) I always try and kid myself that I'm above the whole scene points thing but on reflection it looks like I've caught the bug. AMG Merc wheels, Corvette, Porsche, I love that whole look (Bentley's arn't my cup of tea though) If I could have any wheels it would be some magnesium racing jobbies as I do like function over form but wallet isn't that deep unfortunately
  14. No idea what you're talking about, I've never claimed to have Porsche wheels for extra kudos  Have to admit it does roll off the tongue nice I do like Speedlines alot, think VW got it spot on with them but unfortunately if you keep them you just don't look like you've made the effort. Might sound like a stupid statement but I do like to got to shows and meets on occassions with something a little different.
  15. Just had a look at some Compomotives a second ago, forgot how cool they are, would definately have some but I can't allow myself to be sidetracked :)
  16. Was tempted by the 16" Teledials but just decided against the hassle just to go an inch bigger. If I'm honest about 20% of my decision is keeping in the scene but the rest is due to the fact that I think Porsche have designed some of the best looking OEM wheels on the planet. Most cars roll out with chunky generic crap that looks like an after thought but not so with Porsche, and as VW have always had such a close relationship with them I think they sit pretty well on their wheels. Was going with the Porsche thing really as already have the adaptors etc and can get some designs for not too much money. Don't have standard brakes myself as they are absolutely shocking!! I swear the 256's on my old valver were better.
  17. They do actually look pretty good in the flesh, better then I thought and better then the photo's make out. They are small though, and much like your wheels Kev and the standard speedlines the C does sit well on a 5 spoke. Aaah decisions, could keep the Tele's too and slap some R888's on but then there goes the bigger brakes. If only I was into Fords then all I'd have to decide was where I wanted to stick my crappy 'Sorted' badge :)
  18. I am currently running a mint set of 7x15 Porsche Teledials, always liked the design, love the way the shape compliment the arches on the C. Only problem is that they are maybe a touch too small, I love the way they handle but I wouldn't mind apdating the 288's to 312's and maybe filling out the arches a bit as the Teledials can look a touch lost. Few pics of mine first, bit rubbish but only ones I have to handpassat climatronic wiring diags.pdfbrakes.jpg[/attachment:3290rgi3]climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfsanta pod.jpg[/attachment:3290rgi3]2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfring.jpg[/attachment:3290rgi3] Now a pic of the 16's I've been offered at a good priceboxster.jpg[/attachment:3290rgi3] Which ones would you run if you were in my shoes, Teledials are cult and the others are a touch ugly in my opinion but what do you guys think? Also does anybody have any experiance on the fitment of the 16's? Or any pics of them on a C Cheers Peeps :)
  19. All extremely interesting stuff, good points raised especially with the stripped out thing. Easy to forget how much R&D goes into building a car and how every OEM component is matched to work together. I went out in a friends MK1, had a big brake upgrade and a stripped interior, everytime he broke hard the back wheels came off the ground!! Good fun but absolutely useless for any proper action. Would hate to upset the balance of my car by sodding about with it. Main thing that got me thinking was that the Integra Type R is regarded as one of the only front wheel drive cars to ever give the Rado a run for its money, and it weighs about 1100kg! But the key is probably that it was designed to weigh that much from the start, not been attacked by someone like myself on a mission. I think knocking a bit of weight off the front end of a VR seems to be the way to go then just to even it up, like the idea of those fans, lose all the crap out the boot and dont drive about with a full tank all day. Good thread put up by Boostmonkey though if you are going to go for it, those Americans really do love the tuner scene dont they :)
  20. No way!!!! Thats massive, I know where I'm spending a bit of money then, I'm also getting a CF bonnet and a lightweight battery so that's a 40kg saving from the front end...sweet!
  21. Ha, that is completely fair enough, easier still though just lose any overweight friends you have due to "motorsport regulations", no more wasted hot laps with big passengers :) Like the idea of the Spal and equivalent fans though with the recent group buys going on. Any idea on the difference in weight between OEM and say a 11/9" with lasercut bracket set-up? Remember this is supposed to be OEM too boys and girls so those more off-key suggestions may not be acted upon. I'm not chopping my roof off, binning the spolier, fitting space savers all round, dropping in a hiyabusa engine or any such like malarky before it gets suggested, going on a diet though is on my to-do list :)
  22. Funny how with the whole fuel/air mix people get absolutely fixated on air but often forget the quality of fuel they put in. All very well having cool dense air forced in, spot of NOS etc, but if the other half of the mixture is supermarket crap then it's got to have a pretty detrimental impact. Never thought about it too much before, if I'm honest I dabble with a bit of the cheap stuff from time to time but not anymore.
  23. Not entirely sure the old bill would understand my quest when I smash into my 3rd bus stop in a week :) Thought that was just me, I fill mine up using 1 trip with a 500ml coke bottle, not exactly going to crash and die if it runs out I do this too, never knew it weighed that much though! Very accurate and definitely something to keep in mind As for the leather  yippee I now have an excuse to keep my fabric seats, sound money saving advice right there
  24. Out of curiosity I dropped some of that NOS racing fuel additive in mine for a recent 'Ring trip, upped it too around 104ron! I know it's not set up to run it but the difference was night and day. Awesome economy too, managed to drive from west london to the Nurburgring and put some laps in on one tank of fuel! Expensive at £20 a bottle though Whilst I was out there I noticed the Germans have 'Shell V-Power Racing' too which is 100ron, good old UK getting the bum deal as usual :(
  25. BORING BIT  I've just been thinking that normally the minimum power gain you notice (depending on what you start with) is about 10bhp in real world situations, got me thinking that on a power to weight ratio how much weight saved has the same impact as 10 extra ponies...here's what I came up with... Standard VR6 - 190bhp - 1240kg - power to weight 153bhp/pt Standard VR6 with an extra 10bhp - 200bhp - 1240kg - power to weight 161bhp/pt Standard VR6 with a 60kg weight loss - 190bhp - 1180kg - power to weight 161bhp/pt So 60kg off has the same impact as around 10bhp gained, I know it's not a strict rule as a heavy powerful car will annihilate a light underpowered one once it gets up to speed but it's worth thinking about. It obviously has a positive impact on handling, braking, fuel economy :camp: and general wear and tear on the car when it's got less weight to carry about. FUN BIT  Real weight saving is expensive and normally costs far more then just upping the power but lets club together and see what we can come up with to save a bit of weight on the cheap, obviously whilst keeping the car as functional and OEM as possible. Today I swopped my space saver and crappy jack for a can of tyreweld - weighed it, 8.5kg saving! Not a bad start and thats not even a full size spare Other stuff I've done in the past, £40 Decat pipe-saved about 5kgish and add's a bit of power, win win Plastic rocker cover, saves about 1kg and keeps engine temp down, free swop from a late Golf owner usually Neuspeed pullies, expensive I know but save 3kg of rotational mass and adds 5bhp, again win win but at a cost Anymore suggestions to help reach my golden goal of 60kg, Carbon canister deletion etc
