  1. Im intrested, where are you based? Any chance if some photos?
  2. I've been wondering about this for a while, doing steady motorway speed when I put my lights on oil goes up 4°. At first I thought it might be linked to the extra load on the engine from the alternator but there's no way it could have that much effect that quickly. Can turn light of and on and each time within 10 secs it goes up or down 4°. definately electrical problem, Voltage drop sounds like a possibility but I would expect the alternator to cope easily with the extra drain from the lights at 3500rpm . Maybe earthing problem, or perhaps there is some stray voltage from the lights circuit. Mines standard lighting apart from the chinese switch from 8vmatt
  3. I've still got the box for the mcguard ones on mine, don't know where they came from as they came with the car but I'll have a look later to see if there is a part number.
  4. Those look great! Are you planning on selling the old cloth?
  5. Wish I knew more about all this at the time mine needed changing. especially the tectonics ones, they sound good.
  6. I wanted to keep mine original but when faced with the cost of the VW one and, as I wasn't fitting it myself, the cost of fitting when you have to drop the rear axle to fit an original it added up to a ridiculous amount so I decided to go with a jetex one. Been perfectly happy with it, looks fairly original although tail pipe is a little larger and its not that much louder, possibly a bit of a drone at 50mph in 5th though.

    What lives here?

Holy ****, that looks nasty! I know the controller box is the abs ecu, not sure what else is back there though.
  8. This is just like the carbon fibre panels threads, everyone expresses interest and then it goes quiet and nothing happens. It sounds like a great idea in principal but i doubt it'll get of the ground. Unless the ball suddenly starts rolling on this, I'm not interested.
  9. Oh, thought there were 2. just one then please.
  10. Hi, I'll take the engine lifting brackets and the steering rack brackets please
  11. Haha, Only just got this after portent mentioned its ringing potential as well. Now I look at it again its plainly obvious. " SPARES/REPAIRS/SALVAGE ...or Do What You Want With It. "
  12. Ah well, at least its "hpi clear and comes with 2 keys". Which was the first question I was going to ask.
  13. I find the sob story ridiculous. Who cares if he's 4k down? Doesn't make a pile of rusty burnt metal worth £1000! I doubt a scrap yard would take it without him paying them a disposal fee. Although I have seen some boy racer cars sprayed with a rust effect, maybe they'd buy the panels? Extra scene points for genuine rust?
  14. Laughed my arse off at this one. Make sure you look at the photos! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A3-2-0-TDI-SPORTBACK-SE-DSG-SPARES-REPAIRS-FIRE-DAMAGED-SALVAGE-/330828049669?roken=pu4Ld7

    recaro switch x 4

Think arz still sell them, similar price to VW though.
  16. Yea I do find myself staring at them trying to work it if they're on full beam or not! Then I wonder why I've got a head ache.
  17. Was thinking the same thing earlier this evening, sometimes I flash my lights thinking they've got full beams only to be dazzled even further when they put them on for real in retaliation

Are they missing or just not working? If they're not working you could try and save yourself £200 by opening them up and cleaning the contacts. Worked wonders for mine.
  19. My girlfriends car has the A001's and they've been great on a non performance car. Never found a lack of grip in summer and was great fun in winter, driving up snowy hills when no one else could even get half way up. Not worn as fast as I expected in summer either.

    Kwik fit Rant

Someone I work with got their tracking done at kwik fit and they forgot to do up the lock nuts on the track rods. Wheel broke loose and was just lucky it was low speed. Kwik fit repaired the damage but I would've reported them to the HSE straight away. They only have to remember how to do a handful of jobs and they can't even do them reliably. They're a bunch of children playing mechanics, no idea of the serious consequences of their incompetence.
  21. Is it possible to replace these without removing half the front end?
  22. To be fair to them they are redoing them for an extra £40, which is basically taking away the discount he had originally offered for them being smaller wheels than normal. And they would have happily painted them all the way through if I'd specified but my point was that I don't know the ins and outs of wheel refurbing so if I leave them with wheels that are one colour why would I expect to need to ask them to paint them one colour. Stonejag- These guys powder coat a base later and paint over the top as well but 40 is a lot cheaper, where did you get them done?
  23. Hi, I've just had mine refurbished and they are primer grey on the barrel and only painted silver on the face of the wheel. when I gave them to them they were silver all the way through. I've been told that this is standard refurb practice and that even new wheels are like this. Am I expecting too much to have them the same colour on the face and the barrel? not the cheapest place to get it done either at a standard price of £75 per wheel.
  24. Wish I lived closer, could do with a few if those bits, especially at that price.!
