Nah, bit of patience, some paint stripper and some wet and dry and they come up fine. Thats how I did these ones below. You dont want to go back to metal anyway as they design just traps water bewteen the barrel and face and thats how that all corrode. Heres some inspiration as well.

Ah God Moregn. Charger looks interesting. Been speanding a lot of time in Norway over the last year. All in Stavanger though. Only seen two Corrados since Ive been there. Good luck with this, its mental how much cars cost of there. Woman I work with just got a new A5 2.0T and it was £60k!!!!! Snakis. :)

There a nightmare to strip down. The bolts are titanium so if the snap it a bugger to get them out. There easy to mask of so I wouldnt strip them unless you have to.

True, rear just doesnt have enough weight IMO to go with massive brakes. Bigger brakes will also mean more mass for the suspension to cope with so take that into account as well. Saying that your running 18in wheels so you must not care too much for the ride of the car.

speedlines! do we all agree they are the best wheels?

LM's have to be original now. The reps have made them not so exclusive anymore. I did like mine on my 17in reps but there pretty much everywhere now. -
Picked up a new daily car the other week. Was looking at BM estates but drove one of these and had to have another. Im just a sucker for the 6pot. I had one about 2yrs ago and its one of the few cars that Ive owned for more than a year. Anyway plan was to but this as it already had a few things done to it. Came with cruise, xenons, rain sensitive wipers from factory and extras fitted were Eibach coilovers (factory sump guard), custom exhaust, remap, induction kit, colour coded valances, anniversary skirts and 17in TT alloys. Test drive was ok and everything seemed fine. Intention was to raise it up, change wheels and take the skirts off but im growing to like them. Bit different from the other 50million golf out there. Raising has been an issue as it is silly low. Turns out the rear adjusters were missing so Ive sourced brand new Eibach springs for £60. Removed the induction kit and fitted standard airbox. Exhaust will need some work as it drones too much when hot. Managed to pick up a standard one for £35 so that can go on till its sorted. Wheels were to be replaced by the RC from the Corrado but just looking at them on the car again Im not so sure now. Putting winter tyres on the 4mo wheels Ive got for some snow tastic action. Anyway heres a crap pic. with some possibly wheels options.

When I picked up my 4mo the other week it had one of these kits fitted. Proceeded to piss down the whole way back. First thing I did was get it off and standard box back on. Good news. -

I sat watching the Lancia bit and thought they were going to miss out the Delta, I actually cheered out loud when it came on. I dont know why but it is without doubt my all time favourite car. Instantly went onto Pistonheads to have a look - Im in love...http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1276733.htm Always have a look at these every 6months or so and prices are steadily going up. Might have to sell the Raddo, get a loan and buy one before its too late. -

Have to admit that Ive had loads of wheels but everytime I put the Speedlines back on I love them. Just put mine back on and its looking good. -
Tbh that was my first plan as Ive found a standard system for £35. The CATs are still in place. I think he was planning on going the FI route but I wont be. One question though, will this fit an S3 as it looks very similar to the one I had on my S3? Either that or go back to the place he had it done and get them to reduce it to standard bore with a centre silencer.
-
Yeah the standard system has a centre silencer. The rear "suitcase" on the standard is a lot bigger. Its sounds so nice though... Maybe good to keep it for when the turbo goes on 8)
-
Must just be the resonant freq of this system which is a shame as its not too loud at any other rev/load. Filter getting changed anyway so I'll see if it makes a diff. Was looking at Jetex custom parts to get a centre silncer to help a little.
-
Just wondering of the induction kit will have a part to play as well? Its coming off as I prefer standard airbox.

Bought a 4motion Golf as a new daily today and it has a few things done to it one of which is a custom exhaust. Now the guy got it in 3in pipe and whilst it does sound brilliant it drones around motorway revs. Does anyone have experince of reducing this sort of thing? Can I add an inline silencer box, does the 3in pipework influence the noise too much? Tailpipe is standard looking 4motion.

Nice, wood must go though. I always remember sitting in the pub with a mate that had the Gumball on TV when it all started. We starting discussing the best car to use and this is pretty much what we came up with at the time.

Been toying with dark uppers as well. Are they sprayed?
-
Shame, these things always seem to happen at the same time. At the end of the day loosing your friend will help put this into perspective. Its comes down to the treating other peoples posessions as you would like yours to be treated but as someone has said people these days just dont care about there actions. National service is the way to go, its self discipline that needs to be taught.
-
Depends on how long you want to keep it or use it for. I personally like tinkering with cars and to me at the end of the day it is just a piece of metal and plastic. They are there to be enjoyed and I love driving mine. To me worrying about originallity is only worthwhile if you have a very rare car. Im for the keeping it relatively standard but trying to improve the oily bits.

Guys, any idea where the engine number is stamped on the 2.8 4motion engine? I thought it was about time I got my V5 changed
-
Interesting info. Good to have that weight over the back though. All the best, will be interesting watching this.

Cool, its needing a good run. and its a good chance to swap to winter wheels.
