Personally, Im not keen. Ive been looking at getting some BBS RS's but so many people have finished the centres black. While not awful, I think they look so much better silver.

saw 2 purples ones in folkestone. 1 on the way to and 1 going home from work. M reg and k reg g60

Have you noticed any performance improvement or smoothness ?

£440 for a new one, ouch! Aren't the Golf VR6 ones the same? Might be worth checking the price. You can also get non leather ones.

Thanks, Thats good advice. Was thinking of some form of tape, glad I didn't just go and super glue it cause you never know when you might have to remove them.

 Ive got a megs polisher and have had very similar results. No doubt it has made the car look a lot nicer but you can still see annoying imperfections when the sun shines on it. Without the sun it looks really deep and glossy. Im sure it comes down to technique and using the right speeds/products which Im lacking at the mo.

My quest for the perfect Storm! Now supercharged..

Thats looking the nuts mate. Im yet to get mine lowered but comparing your original photos with the solitudes, and now with the BBS shows how stupid the car looks on its original suspension and has convinced me to get it done. You can paint the calipers with them still on the car but will have to brush apply it. Better to remove them and spray them id say. Have you considered gold calipers? Look good on a green car me thinks, every one goes red. -
Getting my car back this week after a front end respray. Whats the best type of adhesive to refix the bump strips to the doors?
-
yep, you have to get down on your knees and look up.
-
Tried the hairdryer/ice thing at the weekend on my scorpio, Didn't work.
-
Quick question, Do you need to remove the interior door cards to remove the exterior handles ready for a respray?
-
MIne, missed the ABS light being permanently on, as did the garage who I asked to repair it :cuckoo:

1pm ish B&Q car park in Canterbury. Green 16 Valver K Reg, noticed it as I was leaving.

Had one in mine before the bmc. Only difference is it's louder.

Had a minor nightmare today. Popped into the garage to fill up, went to drive away and the ignition would not turn (as if I was using a wrong key) Took the key out and tried again only for the steering lock to activate. Could not get it to turn with moderate force and gave up after about 10 mins. Rang the missus to come and get me and gave it a few more last gasp tries and it turned. Once I got home, I tried the ignition several times and it worked without a hitch. I kinda remember it being stiff about a week ago. Is this a problem anyone else has had, do you think some WD40 would do any harm?

You don't mean the fasteners for the tray that covers over the fuses do you?
-
Its probably just a wheel sensor. If the light comes on it indicates a fault and the abs system won't work. It shouldn't affect normal braking at all, it will just be like a car without ABS and can lock up in an emergency stop.

The Car needs respraying as it has 2 large dents in the bonnet that have creased and cracked the paint so if I got a PDR guy in it will still need respraying and I dont think he could get them out. I don't have a problem with the dents being filled as long as it stays there. Good point about the colour change, it would cost quite a bit more to do the engine bay and inside of doors. Considering changing to classic green as I think its pretty similar to Dragon Green. Ill get a pic up of the dents later.

Ive got quite a few dents on the front of my car i.e Bonnet, both front wings and both doors that Ive been meaning to sort out for a while. Had a guy come out and look and he offered to repair the dents and spray the aforementioned panels including front bumper for £500 which I think sounds reasonable. He mentioned that the smaller dents in the door (dings) he would fill and smooth, whereas I thought they would be repaired by using some tools behind the doorcard to push them out. He said people like dentmaster would do it that way but likely crack the paint, but a bodyshop would do it his way. Does that sound like an acceptable method of repair or is there any chance of the filler falling out? For the larger dents he said he would pull them out by using pins? My other question is that, Im tempted to respray the whole car as Im already doing about 2/3rds of it. Its currently Dragon Green and Im tempted to change to Blackberry. Do you think its wise to stick to green as I guess theres a chance you might still see bits of green if painted another colour? Your opinions will be welcomed.

oil light flashing & beeping around the corners...
PROVR6 replied to stevef182's topic in Engine Bay
Oil light coming on going round roundabouts/corners is a classic sign of low oil. My old laguna used to do it. Also used to have a ST24 that burnt oil about 1 litre every 400 miles but did 20000 miles no prob before i Sold it. If its valve stem seals you will get some blue smoke on start up that will subside when the car warms up. Just check your oil each week to be safe. -
How new are these? I gotta a feeling I might have gone too fast through there on Wed :(
-
Ive done a couple of patch repairs on my scorpio. Cleaned all the rust off, primed it, can sprayed with 3 coats and 2 coats lacquer. Looked ok for about a month and has now bubbled again :(

My car goes for its service/Mot on wed and its been a while since the brake fluid was changed. What is the correct fluid for a VR6, the manual mentions dot 4 but is there any problems with DOT 5.1 and can you get it from a vw dealer? Cheers

Ive got some black wow. Its like a gel and although it works it dosen't really absorb into the plastic and remains as a gel on the surface. As such it tends to attract dust. How about dyeing the plastic with a spray dye?
