My Corrado,Let the rebuild begin in!! Now with fire pics!

Can't believe that the Powerflow place nearest me can't fit my car in till the 15th. Bet if i was replacing the full system instead of just wanting a repair they would have fitted me in faster :bad-words: Contacted them over a week ago to book it in and they only confimed a date yesterday, so now i have got to drive round with the car sounding like a tractor :mad2: Oh and somehow i managed to pull the bloody handbrake mech off it mountings on the floor so now i need to weld that up at some point  Not going to be this weekend though, going to distract myself with alcohol and go watch the England vs Barbars game at Twickenham on sunday. -
is it legal to remove foglights? and other parts?
renson replied to jimmyvwjunkie's topic in Exterior
I'm certain front foglights aren't required for the Mot, you don't need a passenger side wing mirror either i'm sure.Seen people relocate the indicators into the headlights but Lights wise that about all you can remove. Technically the Front number plate needs to be in front of the wheels so that needs to be there for the Mot. handles you can de-lock or change, you can smooth the rear boot lock but thats about it isn't it? -

Backside.jpg[/attachment:21wndqsk] Took this last night, not a bad looker from behind!!! lol I don't think she looks too bad for 175k on my camera phone. Hit the exhaust again on the way home though :( so its a trip to powerflow to get it fixed where its blowing soon -
Ok, really strange problem has just got in my car, when the ignition is on, i have everything displayed on my clocks as they should, however as soon as i stop the car they all go blank (LCD Not RPM etc.....I'm not that simple lol), My CD player is wired to a perminent 12v and that stays on so i can't work out what would cause this. It didn't do it yesterday. What could cause this, like i said its fine till i stop and all comes back to life when i start up again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

HIt 175k :( and wished that i didn't use the car daily because i've put over 45k on the clock in 3 years.

Good Desktop background for work i think, Not allowed stupid ones at work but seeming as it is mot related and we supply Mot equipment i may get away with that!!

MoT Tomorrow :pale: -
40k in 3 years and only been on the back of a truck once when a drive shaft unbolted itself.

Think someone was right about the Early mk3 VR6 wheels. My old k reg had these on, sure there was something on the original sales receipt about them being extra.
-
more than possible, just have to watch where you take it. Ripped a hole in the exhaust finding a nice place once.
-
Silly question but have you disconnected the rear wiper etc and not blocked off the washer pipe? If you haven't you may have squirted water into the tailgate by mistake.

Thanks to MrBeige, that starter motor sorted me out a treat. -
Just looked at everything you have done and you have done some good work, couldn't you sell a few bit to put towards the project just to keep it going?

Realised that i never put any pics of my car since it has been to the body shop, so here it is before the bin lorry reversed into it... stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfBefore1.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] ETKA Corrado.pdfBefore2.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] and what it looked like when she was poorly :pale: ... stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfPoor2.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] Corrado92.pdfPoor4.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] And after she was made all better again  ... passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfAfter1.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfAfter 2.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] I also treated her and redone the red rears 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfTreat1.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] and to cheer me up while she was at the bodyshop my missus brought me this Treat2.jpg[/attachment:1jx5sdp6] Must say that i am chuffed to bits with how she looks now just hope i never have to go through an experience like this again. Was pleased that the chap was nice enough to leave a note though as the final repair bill was nearly £1500. -
Done the same thing with my pedals, cut off the funny little bits on the brake pedal and stuck it on, as for the accelerator i did think about modifying the pedal but thought that was a dit too much so modded the cover. I removed the lip of the pedal and drilled a small hole at the top and rivited it to the pedal. I then used a bit of glue to stick the bottom down. You can't see the where i rivited it unless you relly look and its been like that for a few years now. Also if i ever wanted i could easily take it off. Did see somewhere something about left hand drive and automatic. Well worth doing, never had my feet slip off the pedals but I don't get that really annoying squeak when my trainers are wet.

Sorry about that, 1 of those comments was from what another member said about his car in a TCS Thread and the other was just an observation. Didn't mean to cause and problems. However, i do agree that it is really down to the car, like i said mine has been fine but would also agree with JIM that he does charge a fair whack for the cars which compared to say on here seem well over priced. However sometime the cars sold here seem far too cheap and seems that we are all devaluing the cars ourselves.

I got my Corrado from him nearly 3 years ago now and can't really say too much bad about the car. However i would never buy from him again! I didn't know about this forum before i had my car but from the stuff i know now i can tell he really didn't know his stuff and he is just a salesman. Got told the normal stuff like he had someone coming to look at it tomorrow so he couldn't hold it etc and when i asked him questions about the car he couldn't answer them. He seemed like a nice guy but i'm not too sure about it now. I noticed a few bits of trim missing like the fuse cover and when i pointed them out he 'found' some bits and I noticed more after a while. He also sells corrado parts on ebay or at least did so check everything. *Mod edit - comments removed* My C came with a full MoT and 3 days after i picked it up i was using it on one of our gas analysers and the emissions were well out. Over all i can't fault my car really it hasn't been any real trouble and is in really good condition but from what i have seen and heard i would deal with a forum member every time over someone like him. Sorry if this puts you off, I would still go look at the car. Mine was fine bar a couple of things and hasn't let me down in 30k+ and don't regret buying it 1 bit but it is better to know these things before you go. It really does all depend on how good the car is.

So i have done a search and can't seem to find out anything, until a few days ago my late style headlight switch only illuminated once you put the side lights on (orange and green). But the other day it day it was orange as soon as the ignition was on, but all the lights were off. It was orange/green on sidelights and just orange on full beam. I am running a uprated headlight loom and have noticed i have a main beam bulb out. Is this all coincidence and the switch has just started working as it should or has this happened to warn that the bulb is out or something.(no fog lights are on) Obvioulsy i am going to replace the bulb but was just wondering why the switch had decided to start working like this. It seems to me that it would make sense for it to work as it is now but it never has in 3 years.
-
You sir are a legend. Going to VW to order the bulb very shortly, Thank you
-
I usually only ever see corrados when i'm not in my car. She always seems to spot more than me :(
-
That would be great mate. If it isn't too much trouble
-
Thanks, what sort of bulb do i need though? Can you get them fron halfords?
-
Same thing has happened to mine, do you have a part number or know where i can get the bulb? Also is it a job you can do without taking the whole cluster out?
