did you colour code it then (I assume you did looking at the sig)- did you have to smooth it or did you just prime & top coat? Cheers Mike
-
Cheers- there is one on ebay at the mo which looks in good nick (thought the central VW badge is sprayed gold  )- I'll keep an eye out on that.

Hi, Have managed to snap a few of the locating tabs off on my Storm front Grille- Just wondering whether these are still available from dealers and how much they are? Are they the same part numbers as the black ones but just sprayed at the factory? or do they come smoothed/ primed? Its just the cars going in for a front end respray so may as well sort the grille too (want to keep it original so not really a big fan of the debadged ones that have been going on ebay recently..) Cheers Mike

Tell me more about Honda Prelude 2.2 VTECs..

I read a review of these while waiting fo my chinese a few weeks ago (why can't these places have up to date mags  ) apparently very good and 'the only real rival to the Corrado VR6' they are also very quick. I like them 8) -
I saw some stuff in a service station the other day which was just a one-shot sachet of glue for that very purpose- can't remember who made it but it was one of the usual suspects (prob araldite)- I think you need to use the right stuff though because a few glues I have bought have even said on the back 'not suitable for sticking on rear view mirrors' !!
-
That is fantastic- must have played it about 10 times already- just goes to show what you can get out of a VR :D

I think the pic on the site does have the inlet manifold polished- Its all the other trims that have been blinged up as well- I have to say the engine looks lovely- is it just rattly tat or is the stuff good quality and fits well?
-
I took my car in for a service a few months ago and the guys were working on a supercharged R32 Mk2 golf  - I kid you not- the guy fired it up and everything- reckons they got 160mph out of it but that you were better of staying away from corners where possible :)

OK just been on to order from the stealers- The ashtray illumination is all one part number (so the bulb is hardwired into the outer). The Stealer is also saying that the ciggy one is the same type and to be fair it did look pretty integral when I looked last weekend. I have ordered a 'holder plus bulb' for both- I'll just have to see what turns up :?
-
Hi, Am taking out the centre console trims to derattle and also to put new bulbs in. I need to replace the bulbs in the cig lighter and the ash tray illumination but they seem to come complete with a plastic outer so I guess I'll need to order specially. The question is- with the three rotary heater dials it seems to light more in the centre and then fades either side- is there a bulb for each dial or just one for them all. If there are three- whats bulbs do I need to order and how easy is it to get to the bulbs? Cheers Mike

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Ice White Socks replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Today I pulled out all the transmission tunnel trims- took off all the old knackered felt and replaced it with over a metre and a half of self adhesive felt strip covering all potential chafeage points- no more wedging paper down the gaps to try and stop the creaking- it now feels like it should have done when it left the factory :D :D - next week it will be the same with the dash :( -
OK Cheers- That covers the wheel off bit- anyone know if the springy contact bit is replaceable and if so- how easy to fit. Mike
-
But enough about my personal problems :) Decided to give the old Corrado a good clean inside today- got a cloth snagged and have managed to break off the dash-side springy contact that pushes onto the horn ring (behind the back of the wheel) :( Has anyone else ever managed to be this stupid? Does anyone know if the contact is replaceable? am I going to need to take it to a garage to get the wheel off or can I do it myself? Cheers Mike
-
I didn't mean like stripping it out or anything like that- I just get the feeling that you would need a few track sessions to get a feel for just how far you can push a VR- plus I want to do the Nurburgring this summer and am looking to video it- & I wanna put in a decent lap so I can post it up

Yes I was just playing devils advocate on the lifespan  The mount is great- I noticed it most when you rag it in first- the engine used to bounce all over the shop- almost to the point where I wasn't even sure sometimes whether any power was getting to the road at all :? Now its just rock solid. Another not unpleasant side effect is a strange harmonic when you come off the power in gear in 1st or second and you get a high pitch turbine like noise as the cars slows - sounds great as you slow down for lights etc Saying that the car is no longer a daily driver and I really want to start tracking it soon- after i get through the 'to-do'list as long as my arm (pads, braided hoses, 5.1 fluid, new axle bushes, wishbones etc etc) hopefully I might even get the chance to justify having the racing insert soon :D
-
Nick, Not only will the VT one potentially last a lot longer (though without wanting to add fuel to any fire- has anyone actually run a VT mount for ten years yet? they might be weaker than the standard mounts  ) but it will also make ur car feel so much better- gearchange, handling and clutch action are transformed when u lock the big six potter down properly- I got the hardest 'racing' insert for my VT mount and am chuffed to bits with it. Cheers

Need Name of Place selling German Style Plates at inters???
Ice White Socks replied to rado-steve's topic in Suppliers Forum
Its funny this thread should come up today because I saw these german plates for the first time last night on a v.tidy Mk3 GTi in Leeds. I have to say the plates looked great and- well worth the money 8) -
Great- I'll get some ordered- Whereabouts in sheff you from Dave- Its just I'm looking for a place in Sheff now- Could have a Storm mini meet in a few months time
-
I have been using the Autoglym stuff and have to be honest- whilst it makes it look better when you apply it- it seems to be getting worse over the long run. Its almost like its too 'bulky' and leaves too much residue in the leather  I'm going for the liquid leather cleaner then conditioner- I'll do some before and after pics but it might be a few weeks yet. Cheers

Audioscape moulded sub enclosure - update 21/02
Ice White Socks replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I'll definitely have one 8) Mike -
Hi, Tomorrow I was thinking about jet washing the engine bay. I'll take care to cover up all that I can- is there anything I specifically need to avoid getting wet- or am I just asking for trouble even thinking about it (bearing in mind the car normally doesn't need any excuse to play up anyway and I don't want to antagonize it) :? :? Cheers Mike

Worrying Vag-Com fault codes ABS related Help!
Ice White Socks replied to Jay_vr6's topic in Drivetrain
Yes there is an option to clear out all the codes. If you lookon autoscan and there is an option to clear all 'DTC's- I'm pretty sure thats the right one but check the vag-com manual just to be sure though.. Cheers -
Worrying Vag-Com fault codes ABS related Help!
Ice White Socks replied to Jay_vr6's topic in Drivetrain
Assuming that your ABS light still has the bulb in it and goes off after you start the ignition then I don't think you have a problem- because whatever faults the car may have had on the back ABS sensors must have been fixed- just the codes not cleared out. I believe if you have your car rolling roaded then it will also log faults on the back wheel sensors too.. Cheers Mike
