  1. Ah, so it is a manual gearbox corrado subframe then! Must be an early spec frame then if the part number changed for later ones. Cheers for the confirmation Joe.
  2. Hey guys, Just playing with the spare frame out the back, and found the part number: "535 199 303" This matches NONE of the Corrado codes, or any of the Mk2 Golf codes. Anyone have any idea what it's from? It was fitted to the rolling shell before it was dismantled and scrapped. I've searched on google and got a Swedish site which seems to be telling me it was the part number for a Corrado G60 frame at one point, but i could be totally wrong. Nothing on worldwide ebay whilst searching for part number either....any clues?
  3. I owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwned that wishbone bolt down with the help of Erwin! God, that was satisfying. But I started pulling the bolt out, and it came out about half as long as it should have done... sheared from my extreme torque attack! I had to laugh, plus i might be able to drill the inner bit out, if not i'll dump the subframe which would be a shame.
  4. Bro, not sure if you're checking this from you holiday spot, but your Irwins came today! Just about to attempt wishbone bolt removal on the spare subframe! Might have to dial the guns down a bit, last time I was lifting the 'frame off the floor

True, the car could jump off it's stands.... but I don't think it would get enough traction to pull the car into the nearest wall (wheels have no tyres on). I could easily be wrong though.

Thats not a fair deal [/quote:12osxt45] ok ok, just my maths module.... you know about complex conjugates of imaginary numbers?.... Yeah, nor do I :pale:

Thanks for making me self-conscious! :( :D lol, you are an american corrado owner dude, that makes you exempt from all stereotypes!
  8. From Vagcat: 535199315D - G60, 8v and 16v engine subframe, 535199315E - VR6 subframe. And yes from the pics on Vagcat, the VR subframe has 2 of those cylindrical mounts with a kind of rounded diamond face on the top, where the other subframes have the V shaped mount for the rear engine mount point. hth, Jon.
  9. noooooooooooo! they were on there when I got the car, honest! Got a lovely set of clear clusters in a box in the lobby if anyone wants?
  10. Very good points. at the end of the day, the micron thick layer of film on a particularmain bearing would come into play, albeit the differences would be infintesimally small. We're modelling this kind of thing at the moment in Finite Element Analysis.

I can understand people thinking americans would hurt themselves, as statistically their fingers are fatter than ours, but if someone would like to do the calculations and prove that this is 100% lethal, then please do! I think you'll need the following: Formula to work out rotational mass of the wheel based on wheel's static mass - (you'll need to calculate centripetal acceleration in rad/s

Ill send you a set of wheels to do then ;)[/quote:igcot2su] If you do my degree!
  13. Yeah, corrado ownership is great!!!    p.s. Prodigal is on hols, so feel free to direct his funk my way 8)

its not like he's sitting at 6000rpm, he's probably only at idle. Yes, car wheels will turn around by themselves at idle as there is no road friction to counteract this and stall the engine. Hell, they even creep by themselves in neutral! I'd do it, it's not as dangerous as people make it out to be. You could easily just hold a sanding block with your hands away from the wheel.

ha ha yeah! you should be able to rig up some kind of eqpt to do this for you, all you need is pressure at a certain angle/location, if you're DESPERATE to polish them on the car!
  16. So, corrado suspension sin't the same as mk2?
  17. Thanks for the heads up david! Fascinating that Koni suggest lubricating/lining with coolant!
  18. Cumulative errors, I hear you! Very interesting, and I do concur that a lot of wear from parts under load won't be able to be duplicated off the car due to the high loads involved (at least repectively, considering the small loads a hand can apply!) The rack on the car atm is horrible, it darts left and right all the time and I always keeps the tires pumped up. I recall that the knuckle in the U/J had LOADS of play in on my golf, which resulted in that feeling where you turn the wheel 10-20 degrees either way from centre and the wheels don't move! scary stuff. I am just waiting for some more parts to come in to start rebuilding the rack, but the old rods on this one did look quite past it indeed.
  19. Ooops, sorry to hear that matey... this might help: Eaton M45 vs G60 discussion on the Tex.
  20. dirty, yeah I'd reckon so, there is hardly any clearance behind there unfortunately.
  21. This project thread is so sick. Love it, thinking about driving up to Notts now too!
  22. 3 hours to empty the boot, or am I missing something?
  23. Let us know what you find out, I'm thinking I might change my dampers when I do the top mounts :salute:
  24. Sorry, was thinking of the wrong Eaton! apparently the M62 is quite a good un, although has been nicknamed the HEATON! :pale: Luckily, you have an FMIC the size of Peru so you should be alright with it. Apart from the charge heat, the M62 seems to be a bulletproof and well made charger.
