IIRC one flash means the camera was on, but not loaded with film, a double flash means its loaded and has snapped a pic of you. if your tomtom said 77 you sould be safe since its 1mph below the 10% they allow for speedo inacuracy on a 70 limit... odd that! you weren't going down an incline at the time were you? i've known (tom) cruise control take a bit of time to back off when introduced to a hill.

hehe, yeah right lee! lets see how it looks in 12 monhts time ;)

engine and gearbox mounts are generally a good move anyway since any originals will be a bit tired by now. You don't really need to do them at the same time as the chains, they're not 'that' hard to access. You're really looking at things that can be done while the manifold/chain cover etc are off since the labor involved is quite high and anything that can be done at the same time will save you money in the long run... I'm not sure what those things might be but I'm positive someone will enlighten you!

CorradoVR6-n.o.s's VR6 Turbo,,now sold :(
chrishill replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in Members Gallery
seeing your car yesterday really made me miss my old VR :( its a flippin lovely example! wheels look top notch, glad you're pleased! -
complete rebuild, by that i mean every part that can be bought new from VAG, bought and fitted to the car, bare metal respray in a porsche colour, the very best suspension money can buy, turbo, 4x4, and some unique wheels in 9x17. Retrim in kangaroo hide and probably a million other touches which would come along the way! I could easily spend most of the jackpot on a corrado!
-
check you have the new style wheel balance's fitted, not the old style clippy-on ones. Had this problem with my golf and thought I needed 2 new tyres, turns out as the clips age and corrode they can cause air to leak from the tyre, 20mins in a tyre place and some new sticky-on balances and it was all sorted. Otherwise as others have said it could be the rims of the alloys needing a refurb.

wait, he blew a piston and didn't stop? you'd think the clouds of smoke billowing from the back of the car and the 'funny noise' the engine would be making would suggest he should pull over! theres some real muppets about...

JIMMI'S CORRADO WITH 06 GOLF GTI TFSI RUNNING GEAR
chrishill replied to JIMMI's topic in Members Gallery
superb work chap! you'd never know! I'll look out for you on the mean streets of the north east ;) -
'booo' for the lack of shorts in this thread, most disapointing. might be worth asking H8RRA about his passat handles, they're a very tidy mod and make opening his doors a billion times easier

Maltese crosses, whats the VW connection?
chrishill replied to chrishill's topic in General Car Chat
here we go, on the roof... yeah I thought maybe there was a german connection of some sort, might have just answered my own question with the use of wikipedia though! "A version of the Iron Cross is used to date by the German army (Bundeswehr) as its symbol and nationality marking and found on vehicles, aircraft and publications." the Iron Cross being a derivative of the maltese cross, and what I've seen called a maltese cross is actually an iron cross. -

:D cheers matey! and to you too! -
er, well as the title says, I was wondering the other day what the relivance of the maltese cross is on euro/ratty VW's. Its got a nice retro vibe to it, but there must be some other connection, anyone know?

Possible winner for funniest read of the month
chrishill replied to randal's topic in General Car Chat
my god... theres so many things wrong with that I dunno where to start! *p!sstake overload* sorry about the 'jesticular' manner of my reply  -
M15 VW, still loving the stance of your car! bringing it down 'slightly' lower would be utter perfection, but I know its not very practical day-to-day
-
only a matter of time really! Don't think you'll be disapointed with 'Ruby' (BTW - Scarlett, if you're reading this, Jim keeping the name and only ever refering to the car as ruby needs to be a condition of the sale ;))
-
did you have the plug leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm changed when you had problems before? sounds like a spark issue to me, and if they've not been done they'd be the first place I'd look. -edit- sorry just noticed its a 2.0 16v, not a 1.8... did they still use a dizzy/rotor setup or did they change?
-
meh, i'm too young to remember either properly ;) you're right there, once you know its possible and pretty stright forwards to alter the little bits and bobs you don't like about your car it becomes hard to resist. Its a dangerous path though. For example you've said yourself you couldnt have a standard VR after owning the Haywire-waggon, and we all know a standard VR is a damn sight better than 75% of the cars that're being churned out today, a modified SVR has to leave you with a choice of about 10% of the (realisticly obtainable) production cars if you wanted to upgrade and get better handling/performance. TBH there arent many cars I'd own over a corrado (yes i know i dont have one now!) given the choice, for the money you simply can not find anything close... even for double the money in alot of cases!
-
ooooh you ARE awful...
-
It is nice to see a corrado (almost) the way VW intened every now and again, since as you say the vast majority of them will have been modified in some way shape or form, however I dont think having an immaculate 'classic' car is anything new, the flat cap brigade have been restoring more modern classics (mk1 escorts/cortinas etc) to concourse levels for years. Personally I think VW got it right at the time the corrado was produced, so theres no need for bodykits etc, but theres alot to be said for modernising the ride height, its really the only thing a standard Corrado needs to make it look really nice.

One for the OEM+ lovers? :D pics and vids inside!

nice work! I used the blank LED spaces to mount my alarm LED in the clocks, but shift lights are a neat idea. -
I need a new rear ABS sensor for m'golf, checked the euro car parts site since theres a branch just down the road from me and I have a couple of choices... FEBI-BILST - 417440010 - A B S SPEED SENSOR VW/AUDI - Rear - £36.50 MACHT - 417440011 - A B S SPEED SENSOR VW/AUDI - Rear - £9.54 quite a large price difference!! could the cheaper one be the sensor ring and the more expensive be the sensor itself? if not, is the MACHT one likely to be pants? ta!

damnit, i was just looking for an excuse...

IIRC your car has to be overfueling to produce any sort of flame with these kits, since they work by ignighting the unburnt fuel in the exhaust gasses, so not only are they illegal and dangerous, you car has to be running rich to use them.
