well, its not a performace modification, but it does up the value of the car, and the registration number is different to the one they have listed for your policy (i take it you mean you put a private plate on?) Hate to say it, but you might not be covered...
-
just throwing in comments that amuse you, but probably no-one else, when you reach the limit of your capabilities works for me :)
-
ah b*llocks! most of my opinions are based on your posts jim :( ,I'll have to find someone elses mind to clone now...
-
its very very quiet since all the french had their cars torched by rioters :D
-
or over a 1/4 mile, which is where we started...
-
impressive as that is... £75,000! if i bought me a fq400 for what, 40k? i'd have 35k left to hand over to noris designs... i'm sure given that amount of wedge they'd make something special...
-
funny, i saw an old balding gentleman driving one a while ago... i did think 'c*ck'
-
do they do uprated factory versions of the viper and vette? I'd argue that the FQ400 is to the evo what the R32 is to the golf and the cossie (back in the day) was to the escort, it depends where you draw the line. I could say my VR leaves an impreza for dead... which it would if the impreza in question wasnt the beefed up STI or WRX, but a lowly 1.6 non-turbo estate, gotta compare (factory) 'best of breed' for a fair fight!
-
well ok, fair enough... but my figures were wrong, the FQ400 evo was actually a few seconds quicker than the viper as neil g60 pointed out. I wouldnt class the M3 CSL as a modded car either, it came out of the factory like that ;)
-
ah ok, so the http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear site is woefully out of date!!
-
I wouldnt be so sure top gear track times for both cars, both driven by the stig... Dodge Viper SRT-10 - 1.28.5 Mitsubishi Evo VIII - 1.28.9 .4 of a seconds difference, which is next to nothing.
-
yup, vipers are 'slightly' notorious as death-traps, like the AC cobra was back in its day.
-
another contensious issue I feel... it depends how you're comparing them and how you class cars... i wouldn't put a skyline in the same class as a viper or corvette - 2 seater sports/roadster vs overgrown family car with a monster engine? hardly the same class of car... unless you're talking in price or power terms?
-
and the people that can afford it are 17 and like burberry :x
-
^ exactly, the £/$ exchange rate isnt great for us at the moment, and all those parts have to be sent over here... cost spirals
-
so.. 'import' cars in terms of the american scene? thats basically your japanese manufacturers then i'm guessing... why is the UK so far behind in getting mega power from jap cars? 1. cost of parts over here is stupid because... 2. most of the parts are made in the states or japan and have to be imported, tuners in the US have a much larger parts catalogue to choose from at a lower cost. 3. Disposable income - americans seem to have more of it 4. audience - the scene over there isnt dominated by chavs buying max-power hack rags, and so isnt geared towards providing them with dump valves for their n/a 1.4's just my $2

oh, make sure your wheels are perfectly stright too, otherwise you'll end up with your wheel off at a mad angle!

aye its a big nut, but i dont think its 30mm mate, i'm sure its 26... you'll need a long socket to get at the nut, and a long-ish driver as it'll be done up tight and you'll need the leverage. I nearly gave myself a hurnia (spelling?) getting mine off.

to VR or not to VR...that is the question.....
chrishill replied to swfblade's topic in General Car Chat
thats one of the things about the VR though, you never feel like you're going as fast as you are, very strange! I doubt the 0-60 is a real-world 6.7sec, but thats been discussed before. Its real forte is motorway munching, its got the right sort of power at the right revs to make motorways effortless, although motorways arent that much fun. I find its too heavy to inspire confidence on country lanes, i want it to be light and nimble but the heavy engine makes it a little slower to respond than my valver was, I dont feel like i can use the power availible and put the car where I want it. -
