  1. not an 'on the road' spot, but theres a purple 'rado hiding in a photo from a party held by pistonheads last weekend. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/12549.htm first photo
  2. duh, obviously, I mean have you ever seen a car crash on american TV where at least one car doesnt explode in a fireball? I think I'd rather take a head-first dive through the windscreen on the offchance that my car was going to turn into an accidental barbeque of death than buckle up... its just logical. :?
  3. ...or a cockney saying 'harvy' yup its that too! :D its a narrower angle than traditional v6's, and the pistons are 'staggered', rather than being more or less directly opposite like in other v6's, giving it the 'inline' part of its name. (bah beaten to it by kev - must learn to google image search faster!) well thats what I understand from what i've read anyway, I'm sure someone will correct me or expend on detail!
  4. not wanting to look like a plank, but i've got a boschmann 12" sub and its not actually bad at all, yeah its low power but it does the job and for £30 I wasn't arguing! Had to go the cheap route after the vibe sub I had killed itself and i couldnt afford another. saying that I suppose a sub is fairly simple in comparison to componants, so long as it goes 'boom boom' it doesnt matter!
  5. I dont think its all that easy to get the clocks showing the right milage, 'chargedupstorm' (guy hartly) does them professionally. I've got the same problem at the moment!
  6. AFAIK they slide forwards from the their position on the B pillar to a point thats easier for you to reach rather than having to contort your arm behind you to grab the belt.
  7. I think they're the same as mk2 golf units asside from the resistor pack, which can be swapped to give 4 speeds rather than the golfs 3. I might just take the plunge and buy a gsf one for £60 since it sort-of needs fixing ASAP and I dont know when I'll be able to get to the scrappys! I'll stick a wanted ad up for now just in case...
  8. well, thats what i thought but just wanted it clearing up before I spent the wonga on a new one!
  9. fecking typical, just as winters really setting in and I need it, the heater blower goes and dies on me. It had been working fine, if a bit noisy at times, then last night I turned it on to demist the windscreen and it ran for a few seconds, started kicking out a horrible smell and then stopped. its not blowing on any setting at all, so i'm guessing its not the common thermo resistor fault, does the smell mean its burnt itself out and is utterly goosed? and yup i've used the search, but most threads seem to relate to the thermo resistor. :)
  10. 300 miles to £60 worth of petrol sounds about right to me, its about what i get... then again theres nothing to say my MAF isnt dodgy too!
  11. superb mate, as has been said before... wheels can make or break a car, but i think in your case they're just the icing on the cake! you going to delete the drainage channels on the roof as well as the sunroof then?
  12. deffinatly done to prevent home mechanics servicing cars themselves, manufacturers would claim its to keep the engine clean (plastic wipes down easier than metal!) but we know the truth! power to the people!
  13. did you change the rotor-arm at the same time? that'd deffinatly be worth doing if not.
  14. make sure you laminate the engine bay, dont fancy cleaning the 'doposites' you might find on it after a show (fwapp fwapp fwapp!)
  15. bit too dark to see whats going on really!
  16. the AEZ are rather nice, they remind me of some porsche wheels... cup 1's maybe? the others look a bit like a certain set of corvette wheels, only with longer spokes :D
  17. http://www.eiptuning.com/eip/stage5vr6turboprojectsponsorship.html no idea on the power of this one, but its 'stage 5' where as the white one link above is, according to EIP, stage 6. click the link for the '10.23 @ 138mph' video, the howl from the engine when its parked up before going on the strip is almost animal... love it!
  18. its all in the wording of your (or her) policy. Mine says I'll be compensated to the 'market value' of the car, what market value means is open to interpretation really, i would argue that the forecourt price is market value, since your sister is quite fussy about where she buys her cars from *cough* isnt she. Honestly, if they're up for (for example) £10k on the forecourts and £9k private, I'd aim high and ask for forecourt price and let them knock you down from there.
  19. yeah, the looks are nothing spectuacular... although if you read through the text it says the cars now sporting audi coupe headlights off a cab?? odd!
  20. they'll try and do it on the Glass's Guide (spelling?) valuation, which is what you'd get part-ex at a dealers pretty much. Argue the toss, they should compensate you with the sum it would take to replace the car with one of equal condition, milage and options, basically... how much it'd cost you to buy an identical car. Get some autotrader evidence together of cars the same age and so on, then lay it on heavy about the car being your sisters pride and joy.
  21. golf, sadly, but its still a VR! probably been around for a while, but i just found rather a good write-up on it. http://www.turbomagazine.com/features/0103tur_golf/
  22. yeah, its just like changing a fuse really. I found the new relay actually fitted with the numbers (109) upside-down rather than the original which had them the right way up! its a good bit smaller too, I suppose relay technologys moved on since 1992! :)
  23. from my experiance, my relays still clicked as you'd expect and there were no obvious signs that they were faulty, no tarnished or discoloured 'legs', not running hot, not clicking madly. IIRC the ECU relay is about £12 and the fuel pump one is £18, TBH if nothing else I'd call in at the stealers and get an ECU relay then at least you can rule it our for the price of a few pints. :)
  24. thats uncanny paul! the cream recaro's you have suit the exterior colour better IMO. I suppose it just re-enforces what i've always thought about corrado modding, theres tried and tested ways of doing it that just 'work'.
