 something like that, followed by me sobbing gently

ins group 12-14 though, no chance of reasonable insurance now i've lost my no claims.

looks alot like the dark red (the correct name of which escapes me) that was availible on corrados from the factory, or at least I think it will when polished up. I reckon it'll look nice, although its probably not as bright and attention grabbing as you'd have liked.

WARNING - VR6 on Autotrader clocked. Now on eBay.
chrishill replied to Rado16v's topic in General Car Chat
well if VW say it had 103k in 2000 I think its fair to say it wont have 69k now. However we all know how often vr's change hands (save for a select few) and he may well have bought it in good faith. -

the effect of short distance driving on engines
chrishill replied to chrishill's topic in General Car Chat
that was my thought too bcstudent, obviously if i'm in a position to sell the car after its repaired I dont want people thinking the head gaskets gone due to condensation mayo... its too dark to check now but I'll have a look in the light to see if theres any there. -
the effect of short distance driving on engines
chrishill replied to chrishill's topic in General Car Chat
yeah dazzy, going for a long drive every now and again wont hurt, but i dont always get the chance. just interested to know how short journeys effect the engine. -
unless its been in the country for a while and has been converted to mph already but they havent put stickers on the dash? I didnt think it was legal to have the speedo and odometer in kph in this country? would it pass an MOT like that? its just I know chris vr6 nos has to convert all his jap imports to mph before he gets them SVA'd and road legal...

just pondering really, I drive about 2 miles a day, the only time the VR gets to have fun is at the weekends, but even then its not doing more than about 10miles at a time. I've read in a few posts now that not getting the engine up to temperature can leave emulsified oil residue on the oil filler cap, and presumibly on the underside of the rocker cover? I take it this is the dreaded 'mayo' people look for when buying a car? Dont know if mines got any under the filler cap, i'll have to have a look. Also, if the oils never getting up to proper temperature does that mean that the engine wont be burning off carbon deposites etc? I suppose what i'm asking is am i slowly killing the engine by not opening it up properly? if so, is a good thrap the best cure?

welcome to corrado ownership mate! the 'one at a time' window thing is just a 'feature' of the car, its been explained before and i think it came down to insufficent voltage to operate both windows at once...or something like that! madness!

theres golfgti.co.uk but edition38's mk3 golf forum seems to have alot of vr owners and is pretty active.

Bus driver jailed for five years - is it fair!!!

I've sure i read it was a volvo... -
pretty sure this has been talked about before and the outcome was that they're in fact bulbs.
-
that confused me! full beam headlight indicator bulb!? only just twigged you mean the bulb in the dash! ;)
-
I've a feeling all the late mk3 vr's are odb2 paul, i'm positive I've heard they changed over at the same time as the corrado vr. I think kev wanted the highline stuff because it'd be 'last off the line' in terms of vr's and odb2.
-
kinda! you'd have to hope the only people you wanted to get into the back were umpalumpa's but otherwise 8)
-
look just above the top left and right corners of the cluster and you should see a screw either side, undo those and the clock unit will hinge forwards from the bottom. you can then lift it up and forwards to get it out of the dash.

i suppose no one knows how they'd react having just run a couple of people over, maybe he slipped into shock, I think if i did it I'd probably go all rabbit-in-headlights. -
supercharge it? ;) the only thing I've been told to look for on mk3's is rust hiding under the plastic arch trims, otherwise I'm sure you know what you're looking for in a 2nd hand car!

exsqueaze me? total bargain though, lovely looking car mate, well done!
-
ah, classic insurance might help! i guess with the use of the missus' car my milage could be curbed... hmm... well anyway I've got to get mine fixed and try to shift it first, but its all good advice guys, much apreciated.

good points mate, but i cant see the insurance being low enough for my needs... although cant you get 1.6's?
