    Max Power

probably the big fat cheque the owner gave him!
  3. do cars on forecourts count? I've seen both a black mercelago and a yellow gallardo at a local 'posh car' garage and the other week there was a bentley azure convertible outside a ford garage up the road from work... yum
  4. those mice have some mad skills!
  5. NCB isnt protected :( but we'll see what happens, got to go through insurance really, theres no way i can stump up the cash myself! not sure about it getting written off, its a fine line with C's and I counted 6 panels plus the back bumper and 3 wheels that need work, so I'm really not sure. in way yeah, if it gets written off it'll save me trying to sell a recently battered but repaired car, but I'd hate to see that happen really :( buying it back might be an option depending, but even so i'll still have to sell it in the long run.
  6. aye best plan, i usually do that too but for some unknown reason yesterday i forgot.
  7. should all be covered by the insurance fingers crossed! only problem will be my premium going through the roof, so the planned mk3 gti might be out of the question :( 1.0 lupos any good? TBH I'm keeping my sense of humor about it, no point getting upset, just feel stupid and guilty for it hitting other peoples cars!
  8. to be fair they're been cool about it, the astra was the worst with a caved in front arch and battered bumper, the rest seems to be mostly cosmetic but obviously mine came off worst being involved in 4 sequential accidents.
  9. typical isnt it? just as you think things are going ok, you go and do something stupid. It seems somehow the handbrake failed and last night my car took it upon itself to roll baclwards from where it was parked, bounce off a mondeo, clip a metro, crash into an astra and scrape a golf, ending up resting on a garden wall. feck. the attached pic shows the worst side, the drivers side isnt 'much' better but that fist sized dent in the rear quarter is my main worry. 3 of the wheels are badly scraped and I have nice green go faster stripes down both sides of the car... again...feck. the other pic shows the path it took.
  10. glad to hear it paul, its obvious your car was a labour of love and I think 'if' you sold it you'd have regreted it. BTW - theres a pic of your car in golf+ this month, page 20. ;)
  11. superb answer as always Chris, I'll check it out tomorrow, thanks
  12. well i suspected the fuel pump relay was at fault, which seems to have been the case considering how the car now starts, just wondered if the other relays possibly being at fault could 'infect' other things! I'll see how it drives and check those other relays out... ta mr.ots!
  13. yeah 12's the one I changed, same part number as the old one but with a 'C' at the end. could faulty relays in 10 and 11 cause problems in areas other than the fogs/horn?
  14. just been and got a new fuel pump relay and plugged it in, not been for a drive yet but the car now fires one the first or second turn of the engine, brilliant, looks like the 'hicups' were down to the relay as suspected... however I noticed in the first few seconds of the engine running the two relays in positions 10 and 11 sometimes click 4 or 5 times, other times not at all. what are those two for? should they click like that or do I need new ones of those too? in fact, if anyone knows what each position is for i wouldnt mind knowing!
  15. hmm, question 11... 11. What does the ABS do? A. It reduces braking distance. B. It allows for the vehicle to be steered when braking with full intensity. C. It reduces the severity of an impact in case of an accident. I would have given something etirely different as an answer if there werent multiple choice! I guess the effect of what they do results in A and B though.
  16. same here jim, the other two look nice aswell but I cant see myself in a SUV, I'm just not 'pimp' like kev ;)
  17. true, but if they stop you and dont have the means to record evidence then they must be fairly sure you were speeding. As you say they cant prosecute without evidence so as long as you dont say something silly like "i was doing about 60 in that 30 zone" you should be ok. I got stopped a few years back, doing an undisclosed speed, by a panda car. I knew there was no point denying it so I admitted to speeding but said I wasnt sure what speed I was doing. Ended up with a producer.
  18. owning up is always the best policy, the police arent daft and even if they dont have the means to record your speed, they know if you're going to fast.
  19. veedub, get yours on a rolling road for a power run and show us the printouts. not that I dont beleive you, but it'd be conclusive proof. A standard 16v vs a standard g40... the g40 has it every time. simular power but lighter car, no contest.
  20. motorway limits need to be raised, but they also need to have a lower limit too. Trucks should be confined to the inside lane and not allowed to overtake, anyone doing less than 60mph where its safe to do so should be fined and obviously, the outside lanes should be reserved for cars capable of over 100mph made by VW and beginning with the letter C.
  21. well the gearing would be her major limitation, I'd say max speed in 1st has to be something like 45mph?
  22. http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/volkswagen_news/article_1594.shtml excuse me while I change my pants.
  23. muppet! some people really shouldnt be let out of the nut house.
  24. sublime! any pics of the golf they're talking about in the vortex article?
