  1. rough idle is typical of a race-cam'd engine, generally they're pretty poor to drive about town since the cams arent designed for that type of driving, doesnt apply to all cams though. thats the valver engine for you! they go better when you thrash them! ;)
  2. got the front pads changed on my vr a few weeks back £20 (excluding parts which I had already) cant say fairer than that!
  3. those rs301's... i'm speachless *dribble*
  4. some do some dont, i cant actually hear mine 'zzzz'ing. It could still be a fault with the relays really, if reseating them fixed it for a bit its possible one of thems sticking. most likly the fuel pump relay which I belive is numbered '52'. When I looked at mine however there are 3 '52' relays and I'm not sure which is for the fuel pump! probably best to check with a vw dealer and buy the correct one for the fuel pump before going any further, I dont think they're too pricey.
  5. first one looks like a clio v6, but yeah, the dahlback (spelling?) golf is sex on wheels
  6. Who'd have thought it! I've read 3 or 4 threads with simular problems/solutions when i was looking into why mine wouldnt start, must be a common vr fault? not sure what those connections are mate, could be something to do with the alarm?
  7. they're the numbered box shaped things above the fuses, take the right hand side undertray out on the drivers side and you should see them, hope it works!
  8. i dont think it'd even turn over if the immob was at fault. I had a simular problem recently and it turned out to be loose relays. take the fuse cover off and remove/reseat the relays and see if that helps.
  9. ventura springs come as part of a 'lowering kit' from euro car parts, had them on my valver. TBH they were pants but I think thats down to the fact that the euro car parts kit has standard length bilstein dampers which cant cope with the shorter springs and the ride ends up being very bouncy. -edit- cheap mk3 though! well played!
  10. I can testify to that, kids and young lads alike turn their heads as I go past alot of the time and people 'in the know' about cars are suitably impressed at work.
  11. that could really confuse someone... speedlines? on a valver?? and they're 17's?!? *head pops in bewilderment*
  12. the VR had two types of rocker cover, one plastic (early) and one metal (later) I cant imagine there being a difference between the gaskets, but you know how random VW can be with their part numbers.
  13. I always thought the AAA was the VR6 used in the golf/passat/vento and sharan - ie the 2.8L, and the ABV was the the 2.9L in the corrado. If thats the case then mines a ABV with a dizzy not a coilpack.
  14. yep, the owner really cocked that up ;)
  15. I dont think its inteneded to highlight cr@p cars, but theres a hell of alot of them on this site! couple of nice VW's though, as you'd expect! MY EYES!!! AIEEEEEE!!!!! this is one of the nice ones though...

    Top Mounts

IIRC bonraith (sp?) do uprated ones although I dont know what advantages they're supposed to give.
  17. i think its safe to say it'll top the track times leader board for a while if they get to try it out!
  18. compelling reading, sounds as awesome as I hoped it'd be! I think the jerno kind of missed the point when he was talking about luggage space though, so long as theres room for a spare pair of pants you're fine ;)

theres two schools of thought on the subject where the VR6 is concerned, mine had a de-cat on when I first got it which was later swapped back onto chrisVR6nos's car (since it was his!) I noticed a difference, albeit fairly small. I've never experimented with cat/decat valvers so I bow to Phils experiance on this one.
  21. open the door, locate the screw on the edge of the door, above the catch, thats in line with the handle and unscrew it. the back of the handle should now be loose and it will slide forwards allowing you to pull the back out, then slide back again to get the front out. Not sure if G60's have the same wire on the handle that the VR's do, but if so you'll need to take the doorcard off and unplug it to get the handle totally off the car.

;) worth a try but no thanks mate, I'm after a family-waggon (passat or a4) due to impending offspring! I'm not serisouly pushing for a sale just yet, theres probably a good 6 months before I start hammering autotrader and properly trying to shift it, but give me a shout if you sell yours, I'd much rather it went to a enthusiast and forum member if possible!

http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22447&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 K plate, about 130k miles, runs perfectly and is getting MOT'd this coming weekend then taxed for 6 months at the end of this month. Looking for 3k for it with a set of bk299's rather than the RH's which I want to sell seperatly.
