  1. just dont wash the middles for a few weeks and get the same effect in brake dust!
  2. the levels been raised by whoever it is with their jeans around their knees!
  3. I'm not sure when it changed, mine was a 1990 though.
  4. nice work! now what'd be REALLY cool is a plug in for google earth that has on-map flags for cars for sale on autotrader that lets you click and go directly to the autotrader advert! theres a plug-in that displays 'local' photos from flickr using geographical information, sort of simular!
  5. early valvers didnt have speakers the the doors, mine didnt! AFAIK they dont have the loom in place to put them there either so I'll have to run wires... no bad thing really since the standard wires aren't that great in the first place.
  6. tidy workmanship but it looks pants IMO. If you want that look buy a 100nx...
  7. i've got a halfords one too, cant fault it! routing... Power cable. run from + on battery (make sure fuse is close to battery) through bulkhead via a grommet that comes out top center of the passenger footwell under the carpet, run it under the carpet to the plastic trim at the end of the door opening, under that, then lift the thin plastic trim at the bottom of the door opening and tuck it under there, run it under that all the way to the rear door cards, then tuck it half way along the base of these, then let it run down the side of the seats and into the boot. RCA leads. (remove driver side undertrays first) from the back of the headunit, run the cables under the steering column making sure you keep them clear of anything that might move, down into the plastic trim by the door opening then along the car as per the power cables and out into the boot. remote power. (remove passenger side undertray) from the back of the head unit, under the glovebox and down to the trim at the door opening where the main power cable runs, then follow its route to the boot. earth. theres a bolt in the 'split' of the rear seats, which holds the hinge onto the body of the car. make sure you rub any paint away to provide a good contact and put the earth on there. I've used this setup on 2 corrados now with no issues, although you have to be careful when putting the rear seats up/down so as not to trap any cables. I've also run speaker cable from the other 2 outputs on my amp down the center tunnel, up through the dash then left/right to the door speakers. HTH!
  8. subtle mods that are undetectable to people who arent enthusiasts, things like flaired arches, audi handles, de-wipered rear, clear repeaters and so on are all fine and dandy in my book, they just bring the car up to date. IMO the corrado doesnt need much styling to improve it, as has been said, lowering + the right alloys does wonders.
  9. my local dealers were less than usful when i was trying to find some of these earlier in the year telling me they'd been discontinued, ended up getting them from ebay for about a fiver each only to find out that the parts department are a bunch of monkeys and they ARE still availible
  10. from seeing them go on ebay, they dont fetch much, although I'd have thought one painted up would attract less attention? ie - not my car colour so i dont want it? maybe just get it primed and ready for painting to encorage owners of all colours to bid?
  11. I'm not sure if thats a result of your taste in mods or not!
  12. hmm yep i thought that kev since s/c and t/c the vr are pricey in themselves ;) it'd be interesting to see one done though, purely to see where they put everything!
  13. doesnt have the same image though really IMO!
  14. first things first, wait until you have a bit more cash so you're not buying a budget kit which will, in the end, only dissapoint. I did that with my first corrado, buying a 'lowering kit' from euro car parts which was like replacing my suspension with jelly! a resonable budget would be around £350. ok, quicky on to the differences! springs and dampers are what you have now, basically a seperate coiled spring and shock absorbers. you can buy either individually and mix/match brands to get the ride you like. best combination as recomended by forum memebers - koni dampers and H&R springs. coilovers are a bit different, the spring and damper are one unit, and allow fine adjustment of ride height and damping to suit your tastes. They're generally more expensive, although some FK's can be had for around £350 and are reported to be quite good. personally, given the budget I'd go for whichever FK coilovers it is that are £350ish, since you'll get the ride height just how you want it, and can adjust the damping to your hearts content!
  15. sounds like they need bleeding properly to me!
  16. you're damn right there, hard ride, poor fuel economy, spoiler catching, fear of damage when left parked, boot space, rear seat space... I could go on. I can see where you're coming from paul, i get a bit tired of the downsides to modified car ownership from time to time too, longing for something smooth and comfortable and I guess like you've said, new! the thing that keeps me going it the fact that when I'm not just plodding about in it, the VR still gives me a big grin and i know i'll probably never find a newer car thats as good to drive, has the same image and is as much fun.
  17. my corrado's my daily driver, but since i only drive about a mile to work and back its no great stress on it, and it still feels special when i get to drive it properly. I do fancy a mk1 as a runabout/retro project though.
  18. yeah, sort of simular headlights and the way the back 1/4 looks very rounded from that angle makes it look very corsa-esque. I bet it goes like stink though! would it be technically possible to turbo and supercharge a vr/r32? or at least something a bit more beefy than that 1.8 ;)
  19. 'interesting' as in it may not actually be a storm?
  20. URQ, its got that 'something' special about it
  21. plus lightly drilled lower half of the airbox, along the wing side (not too much or it'll pink)
