  1. hmm, yeah thats a large gap mate! never delt with coilovers before but to get the top mounts on my 16v (springs and struts) I had to compress the spring so the topmount went on properly... surely you'd have to do something simular with coilovers?
  2. the jump from TPFT to fully comp can be a few hundrew quid, but even so... barstewards! I've always found 'greenlight' to be very good, so long as you car has at least one mod they'll cover you. my vr's costing me just shy of £700 this year, all mods declared, 3 years NCB and one fault accident.
  3. they charged you £400 to change your address?!
  4. big rubbery doughnut looking thing is the top mount, cant beleive your local VW garage dont know what one is! unless they call it something odd like a strut top bush. IIRC the bearings and rubber bit are seperate items and you'll need to replace both, although you could use the old ones but be prepared to change them fairly quickly since when I reused the ones on my valver they started to knock and rattle!
  5. nope, passats beyond consideration now, i think its going to be a mk3 golf but TBH its battering my head thinking about it! I dont really want to get rid of the vr6, but purely for how much its costing me to run, and how much I'll need to run a baby (heh and i thought the stealers were expensive - HOW MUCH for a pram?!) I cant justify or afford it. I'm going to sort the niggles out with it over the next couple of months then stick it up for sale.
  6. true, but realistically I wont ever be able to get one to that stage :(

  8. yeah, bit out of my price range though jim, trying to save money and all that!
  9. ffs, just to throw a large oily spanner in the works... the missus has decided passats are 'boring' and a grandad car (no offence passat owners!), in otherwords, she doesnt like it. Now I know what you're thinking... so what?! but shes got to live with it aswell so I've got to take her seriously  She did go to the extent of finding an alternative though, mk3 golf's are 'quite nice' in her estimations so this might be an about face. I guess on the positive side I would get to keep the RH's and stick them on a golf...
  10. rotorarms are normally hard to get off, but melted... no thats not normal!
  11. lots of very unique touches to a really nice car, keep them coming toffee!
  12. http://www.uk-mkivs.net/ golf specific forum! (beat ya to it jim!)
  13. yeah, i think it works on some colours (silvers and blues) but not on this colour!
  14. yeah, just been trying out some photoshops of it colour-coded and attempting to give it a 30mm drop (hard to judge!) colour coding didnt work as well as I thought it would, although it might look better in real life.
  15. busted indeed! just talking it over with the mrs ;)
  16. just signed up and replied ;)
  17. mk2 golf with a jetta dash? didnt mk2 golfs and jettas have THE SAME dash? most worrying is the original poster wants a corrado to save putting miles on his clio! FFS!
  18. aye, the owner said he spent just over £400 on tyres :? think I might make the move to 17's fairly rapidly if I swap with him
  19. spark plugs, plug leads, distributor (cap/rotor if its a dizzy version rather than a later coilpack).
  20. take it on the merrits of the car itself, if it runs right and looks right then who cares how many owners its had. 9 owers in 11 years... that means each owner kept it for a year and 2 months on average, not bad going really.
  21. yeah i'm trying to find out what the colour is, I think its 'terracotta' or something simular, the RAC site has the car down as being Orange! :? It'll stand out at work amongst the multiple grey/blue/black passats people have as company cars here at work. I kinda like the wheels, they'll definatly look better when its lowered a touch, but Ideally I'd like a set of rims like g-man and OSV have on their passats, the old a8 bin-lids! at the end of the day, rims can be changed.
  22. appologies to Huw if hes using this forum, but I just like some views on this passat... Here. Its a 1.8 20vt which has been revo'd to 200bhp, 19" audi rims and a 30mm drop on the way. Suitible replacment for the VR considering the fact i'll be a family man soon(ish)? The owner used to have scruffy's black bahn branner g60 and wants to get back into the corrado fold.
  23. is it badged up as a storm? hate to tell you this mate, but if its silver... it aint no storm :(
  24. you're right there vr6storm
