chrishills silver vr6 - the wheels are on!
chrishill replied to chrishill's topic in Members Gallery
no worries mate, look forward to seeing another C with AG's! -
http://www.schimmelperformance.com/ go in to parts -> engines -> vr6 engine parts (via the well dodgy flashing menu) $240?? that sounds very cheap! Looks like they ship internationally too if you email them directly. With customs taxes added, just for the sake of argument, does this work out cheaper than euro car parts and GSF? I cant find all the parts listed on their sites. Coincidentally we found this earlier today, and when I went out in the VR this afternoon it was making a worrying 'nut in a bean can' rattle... oooooo bugger....

Take the center tunnel plastics out and you'll find them sat under there.

IIRC the rear track is slightly narrower anyway...but may be wrong! :) I've not had my arches rolled, even with the 3mm spacers on the front taking them to ET29 they only caught the arch liner, not the metal of the arch itself. -

well mine are the 8x17's with a 60mm drop and theres no rear rub, I had a look while washing the car an I think you might just about get away with it, there probably 'just' 5mm extra they could come out. Personally after having spacers on the front I would say AVOID AT ALL COSTS! unless you pay the extra for hubcentric ones (not sure where you'd get them, henny told me about them) They're a mare to get even remotly even around the hub, and then they wobbled like a fat lass on a washing machine. Unless you want a real euro sticky out wheels look I'd say the ET32 would suit you, they do stick out more than most other 17's i've seen but they're not 'steamroller wheels', for me theres a fine line, basically past the arch lip is too much! -
noooooooooooo! you'll regret it if you do!

As far as I know all VR's were the late shape, so the arches on yours and mine should be the same. I'm not sure about ET27 on the back, they might stick out a little too far and foul the arches over bumps (lower the ET further out they stick IIRC) bare in mind that the original offet for a VR is 40 so you really want to get as close to that as possible. are you trying to get the 'wider at the back' look? -

if you like chris  Neil L., I got it wrong mate, my AG's are ET32 not 28. -
loving 2cc's stance in that last pic, looks like hes put his back out!
-
looks fantastic, and we all know whats underneith does the looks more than justice. Its a credit to your had work. 8)
-
personally i'd go big, makes the car look lower at the front, I know what you mean about catching bumps though, mine does it everywhere and i'm loath to shell out for a new one when I know its just going to split and crack like this one has

ok - add 'more often' before the 'you dirty fecker' and after the 'wash your car', come on mate you were asking for that not washing your car for a year?! i mean it was a corsa but even so!

-
talk to chris vr6 nos (or whatever hes got his name as now) he imports jap cars and can probably get you a minter for less than 12k...probably!
-
got mine for £78 plus postage (making it £85 all in IIRC) I'll be looking for about £70 including postage if i sell it, thats a £15 discount for me having the privalidge of having it sat in the kitchen for 3 months!
-
reiger one above on the green car, kamei style one here if the link works... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=10

nah mate its the full on thingy, eyebrow with attached grille... I had an 'up in the middle' one on my valver, got it from GSF I think, not much more than £25, but it wasnt the best quality.
-
I bought one a couple of months back after always wishing i'd put one on my 16v rather than the cheap eyebrow spoiler i ended up with. Its not been painted or fitted yet, and to be honest after seeing a silver VR at vw festival with one on.... i've sort of gone off it. I quite like the look of the front of the car as it is now, and the reiger grille might take it a bit too far away from the OEM+ look I'd like (a la OSV). So, the question is... what do you guys think? If anyone makes me a serious offer on the reiger grille it might push me one way or the other!

I sold a vr wheel for £40 (IIRC) a while ago, was in good nick but I think generally they go for a bit less than that! I just priced it at what i thought and someone bought it so I'm not complaining! they tend to come up on ebay quite alot.

well to my mind thats what t-cut does, this way just means it gets a little deeper and gets a polish at the same time. bearing in mind my valver was 'flash pink' and had been t-cut more times than I care to imagine by the previous owner, I think he thought it was some sort of wax.
-
ooo a glowing knob...
-
I looked into this before i got my old 16v resprayed. Its (as i understand it) like an industrial t-cut treatment of sorts and the results can be very very good especially given the £80 charge, however I wasnt convinced the shine would last very long, like t-cut.

thats about the size of it yes.
