VW fuel gauges of this era are awful. I've run out loads of times in my polo's because the fuel gauge is over the red and yet it runs out. Annoying to say the least.

I'll take the wheel bolts please if they will be ok on VR speedlines?

I saw Tenacious D complete with giant inflatable penis on Sunday night in Manchester. They were awesome!

Make sure you set them on level ground too. I set our coilovers on our breaking up uneven driveway and it looks a lot lower when on a flat level surface.

Site keeps making IE hang on my pc...
SamG40 replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Yeah my work pc does this with IE. Working fine at home on the Mac using Safari. I gave up at work earlier as it just killed IE constantly. -
How come if you were stationary (single track lane or no) and she hit you would it be knock for knock? Did you ask your insurance company whether they thought it was worth trying to claim from her? I know its probably not worth all the hassle in the end fighting it for ages but it seems really unfair to me that you did everything you could to avoid a collision such as this and still get hit and you end up paying for it. Winds me up. Hope you get it sorted.

A blue valver going past meadowhall this morning stuck in the traffic. I went past you on my bike.

I had a spax kit on a polo years ago and it was like having scaffolding poles at each corner instead of dampers. It was much better when I swapped the springs, they were very harsh.

National Day 2012: Sunday 20 May: Brooklands
SamG40 replied to Tempest's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
I was really looking forward to this but I've been offered a free weekend grandstand pitpass ticket for the DTM at brands hatch. Was really looking forward to Brooklands too. Take loads of pictures and have a good day everyone. -
rev counter needle has a mind of its own occasionaly

Just reach up and push the connector in on the back of the clocks in. The loom plug goes in on the left hand side as you look at the clusters. Not sure if you have to take of the lower shelf to reach it. -
Random Google Find! - Fiat Car Parts for Corrados!
SamG40 replied to _Meth's topic in Suppliers Forum
Looks like the back end is the same place as I posted a bit further down from this thread. Be careful with the seat adjuster as I bought one for my seat and its an early spec one I think as its the same as the one in my polo. Its the wrong sort for the Corrado seats. I have managed to a window seal from these guys which is obsolote from VW for my Polo. Good resource. -
Any more details on the front engine mount? Cost, supplier, what difference it makes etc? I've done lights and wipers mod and it makes a big difference. Cant believe no one has mentioned Mk4 rear calipers.

Things you hate other people do to your car...
SamG40 replied to guildmage's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah me too. It just looks so much better. The car park thing always gets me too and its always some 4x4 or people carrier with massive doors parked right next to you too. -
Corrado virgin, is the storm edition worth the extra premium?
SamG40 replied to maximusiv's topic in General Car Chat
That is lovely. Shame that didn't come up when we were looking for ours. Cheap too! -
Thought this might be useful to people. I'm just about to order some stuff through here with a mate. The postage isnt cheap so not worth it for the odd bit but handy if you can order a lot of stuff at once. A lot of stuff is cheap like the air filters and VW want silly money for them now. I'd use Febi stuff for anything as I've always found it good quality. The site is a bit of a faff as a lot of stuff wont be listed but if you look on the Febi site itself (there is a link from the homepage) you can find the Febi/VW part number and order using that. Apparently even if it isnt on the site, if its on the Febi one the site should be able to get hold of it for you. http://www.germanautopartsdirect.co.uk/index.html

I didnt know the auto one was any different? I had this response from my dealer when I emailed them in Febuary as mine went pop. The part number 867845113G is £99.41 inc VAT. We haven't got one in stock however Volkswagen have only got one. I managed to get one off here for a reasonable price thankfully which is fairly new looking at the condition of it so should last a few years yet. As for VW using older vehicles to sell their new ones I had a rant at the TV the other week when the VW commercials commercial came on and starts with a scene of a guy polishing his mint splitty. The Mrs was asking what was wrong with me and I said it annoyed me that they are quick to trade on their heritage but are far too quick to forget about the poor buggers that mean they are able to use them in adverts and for dealer launches like Jim mentions. They dont deserve the support imo but I'm not swapping to a cavalier with a bad frock on anytime soon.

Yep the Valeo one I bought from GSF matched the original Valeo one I took out of the car exactly.

Do you use the Apple TV with XBMC? The addons and access to my NAS from my ATV have totally changed the way I access content. I moved house last July and havent watched a single DVD since then. Everything is accessed through my ATV from my NAS or the internet.

I couldn't get on with the gestures on the iPad like I do on my iPhone. Made my fingers sore! Plus I have an air which I never power down so is on as soon as I open the lid. Glad I lent an iPad off a work colleague before I bought one. I just didn't get on with it. I think I'd get on if I did a commute on a train or bus regularly maybe though, much better for surfing than a phone in that instance.

Its weird, its certainly never had any radweld near under my watch. I've replaced the radiator, the heater matrix and the header tank and not seen any signs of it before. I did buy some orange flush from VW the other week for one of the other cars. Will give it a flush through I reckon.

My top water hose split at the weekend, this is obviously annoying enough in itself but what concerns me is the gunk that is coming out of it! Anyone any ideas what this is?
-
My top hose from the head to the heater matrix with a take off to the throttle body has split. Needed pretty urgently as its loosing too much coolant to use the car. Cheers

As Beastie mentions a guy at work has a similar setup. He can set a grid within an area within the camera that when motion is detected it starts recording. Basically traffic going past on the road doesn't bother the camera (but can be seen) but as soon as motion is detected on his drive or garden its starts recording. The recording is automatically uploaded to a dropbox account in case the pc its recording to is stolen. He can also check it at anytime on his smartphone too. After a break in as he is in a remote area it has put him at ease a bit.

Thats why I've had the issue for a year! I just dont know where to start with the rats nest of wiring.
