  1. This happened to me over the weekend when I went to have 4 Goodyear Efficient Grips stuck on my Passat! I only realised when I got home that evening and checked the bolts and tyres pressures that the 2 rear tyres were Goodyear Excellence. A quick search online showed they were worse - A feeling I kind of had as the back didn't feel as planted. I called up the shop and spoke to the manager on the Mon morning and he was happy to have me go down there on the Tuesday to have the correct tyres fitted. He did say something wasn't right with his stock levels and now he knew why! The thing with this experience was the guy who actually fitted my tyres swore blind that I was told I had 2 different sets (due to a tyre damage issue and not enough spare tyres left to fit 4 for me) and that I had said I was happy with that! Cheeky lying git! The manager was spot on, the tyres were changed and I left 20 mins later happy but annoyed! I'm reluctant to use them again purely on the attitude of the fitter and the fact that I wasn't told anything about the substitution! It wasn't Kwik Fit BTW - Learned my lesson with those cowboys years ago!
  2. I would say that's your lot apart from mounts, turbo pipework and exhaust. Looks pretty comprehensive otherwise and at a good price!
  3. It's rubbing on the steering column cowling... Otherwise there could be something sinister going on!
  4. Luckily I keep finding spares from when I last had a rado! Needed a new cv boot, just so happened to have a genuine one on the shelf! Lucky times! Just need to find a custom downpipe there now!
  5. Another productive day! Shortened the rear engine mount and bolted the engine down fully. Also removed the old 02A shifter as the bushes have worn well along with the old brake calipers and hoses ready for me to fit 288 brakes once I source the calipers and carriers. Finally got the car back on it's wheels for the first time in a long time! Progress feels good! Should really use my proper camera instead of the phone...
  6. I think he's more interested in selling his stuff on other forums at the moment....
  7. Bump and price drop. £325 as I could do with the garage space.
  8. And me! But I don't have the C on the road yet! Thanks for the heads up!
  9. Fitted the ARB and it's new bushes today along with the drop links. Well I did until I realised that the arb was on upside down! Cue some mutterings and now all is fine! Plenty of time spent for not a lot of results! Onwards!
  10. Matey matey is a website rob, I don't think he's trying to patronise ya. :-) Glws
  11. Some photo's from last week. Pedal box welded up. Interior being removed for some cleaning And what I found inside! £4.80 in coins alone!
  12. I did feel great and very manly but I was soon put straight by the missus who didn't seem as impressed due to the noise and promptly gave me some other chores to do instead of "playing" the with the car! Cheers again Kip!
  13. Another week, another update! No photos as I've not had the chance to upload them yet. I've got all the wiring finalised now. I had a few snags, nothing major and a relay change. The way I had my wiring set up, I had my ignition wired off the g1/10 pin and the ecu relay 190 doesn't work unless you have an earth trigger from the ecu and my AUE ecu doesn't have this function. Changing the 190 for a 30 bypassed this and now we have life in the old girl! It fired into life for the first time today, it was loud and it was only for a few moments but it sounded great! Rock steady idle first time too! Still have yet to fit the cooling system or get a downpipe made for my twin cat setup but I can now get on with that as I know the engine fires up happily! Have also fitted my 288 front discs, just need to source some calipers and carriers and then I can send them off for a refurb, just need to decide on colours now! Then I can fit my drive shafts and put her back on her wheels. I love a good rebuild! Pictures over the next few days!
  14. Quick update, I fitted relay 30 in place of the 190 corrado item and we have ourselves a winner! I only ran it for a few seconds as there is no exhaust or cooling system hooked up. Fired up straight away and it idled beautifully and sounded great! Cheers for all of the input from everyone!
  15. Cheers Kip, I think I've managed to sort it out. Current theory is that my ECU doesn't give a switched earth out so that I can't use one to turn on the ECU relay on G1/10. If I change my 190 relay to a 30 from a mk3, this will allow G1/10 to energise when the engine in cranking and the fuel injectors are working. My G1/10 supplies power to my coil pack which explains quite conveniently why my car fails to fire! I'm picking up a new 30 relay from TPS in the morning so watch this space! ---------- Post added at 7:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:33 PM ---------- Yes the immo has been defeated btw :)
  16. I'm just comparing yours with mine at the moment and its the same, except I don't have the G1/7 trigger available on my ecu. Changing my relay 109 to a relay 30 or 32 should cure my problems though.
  17. Sounds good, but I have a 121 pin plug not a 220? Or is J220 something else? Mine is a basic, early 2.8 24v AUE.
  18. Not that I'm aware of. Spark Plugs were checked yesterday, all good and gapped well! It's not even "trying" to fire, it's just cranking away!
  19. Well I checked earlier and I don't have a pin 21 feed oddly enough! On the advice of RubJonny from ClubGTi (lecky genius!) I checked my 14 pin plug and for pin 8 to have a feed to G1/10. Turns out that the pin wasn't wired in at all (schoolboy!) and that the plug had been fitted, it was just slaved up to the engine harness but not set home for some reason. Anyway, all corrected and I went for a test fire, cranks doesn't fire but I can now smell fuel so all good there! Only fault codes showing are for the abs and the Lambda sensors not being plugged in. Why doesn't it fire?!
  20. I'm tempted to power up pin 21 but I'll have a physical check to see if that wire is even there!
  21. It's there or there abouts so it's a solid base to work from. It does explain why the car took some time to sell but it's got the makings of something fantastic!
  22. Yeah I can scan the ecu (first time as well! What a relief that was!) and I can hear the throttle body self align when in switched on and the throttle works from the pedal as well! There are also numerous clicks from the engine bay and I can hear the high pitch whine as well as things energise! Where did you wire in pin 21 to? It's strange that it's not mentioned anywhere in the wiring diagrams though!
  23. I'll look and see tomorrow if there is physically a wire to pin 21, there is either a wire and I have actually done something with it or its not there at all as I don't have any spare wires. It's odd!
