  1. Ah progress, don't you just love it!
  2. 5 More sold. Just 5 left!
  3. For sale: 2.9 ABV 12v VR6 Lump OBD 1 As part of my upgrade to 24v power, I have removed the 12v lump from the car. It's from a 92 K Reg car that has completed 192k. Don't let the mileage put you off though as I have a receipt for £3920 for a complete rebuild from Grant Motorsport in 2009, Approx 30k back. It also had a complete ignition replacement last summer at a cost of £264. It comes complete minus the following: Air filter housing Oil Pressure sensors and wiring Oil temp sensor and wiring Power steering pump All plumbing Mounts The electrical loom between the ecu and the fusebox. Clutch and Flywheel Wiring Loom between engine and ECU/Fusebox Speed sensor wiring Everything else is included from the MAF to the Exhaust manifolds. It will need a new aux belt as the old one is past it best. I'm sure anyone who buys an engine to fit, will give it a basic service, so a new belt is hardly taxing! I have a video of it running for anyone seriously interested for added peace of mind. I carried out a VAGCOM scan before removal, but forgot to get a screen shot. There were no fault codes logged at time of removal. No hot or cold start problems. Starts first time, everytime and revs perfectly. Collection only as I do not want the hassle of couriers breaking stuff and myself getting the blame. Located in Lincolnshire £375 ono - I'm in no rush to sell it, it's living in my nice warm, dry and secure garage and it will until the right person takes her to it's new home. In the car And in the garage EDIT: Just to clarify for those asking questions, The gearbox is NOT included - The diff is worn and I'm going to keep it for a rebuild.
  4. First set posted out today, 10 left guys.
  5. I'm living in Lincolnshire these days. The joys of work moving you about! I had the Porsche for about 18 months and replaced it with a Lotus Elise S2 111S. Both utterly brilliant cars in their own right! The Porsche was a real occasion to drive, the noise, the way it plows through any type of road condition and the way it made kids stop, stare and point. It was remapped and decatted and had just shy of 300 brake! The Lotus was just the ultimate go kart, not the best sounding thing and I always felt as if I was going to be squashed by trucks on the road but just being able to point the car in any direction you wanted and it just went there! I also had a Polo GTi as a run about for 6 weeks. Less said about that the better! Have since got married and want to buy a house so now have a Passat Estate as my daily. Great tool of a car but ultimately requires a rudder out back! When all is said and done, I've owned all sorts of stuff over the years, but a Corrado is the only car I have ever bought 2 of, I just have such a soft spot for them, great noise, great character and a bit handy on the road. I just need to educate people that it is not a Scirocco and i'm there!
  6. Well, thankfully the wind has died down a bit so have been able to make some progress! Now you see me; Now you don't! Time for a good old engine bay clean and tidy!
  7. Just seen your posts guys, just off to bed! I'll pm you first thing!
  8. Jamie - I'm a bad bad man!
  9. If you want to run the risk of starting an obsession or simply want to stare wide mouthed at those who do have an obsession with clean cars, get over to http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum There are some people on there who really need to get a girlfriend or mistress but can do magical things!
  10. Thanks for the comments guys! Bit more progress made in the garage seeing as it as been too windy for me to mess about on the driveway! Engine is progressed to a point where I can't go any further until I remove the old one and the gear box is now ready to bolt on to the engine and fit.
  11. Actually 79p each, but I had been given 20, instead of 2 by my local incompetent dealer. I'm giving people the option to take my spares off me for less than the cost of them driving to their local dealer. £1.58 for 2, plus 60p for the stamp, plus an envelope, plus paypal costs and then 50p per item there after. Your opinion is yours if you think i'm ripping people off but I think i'm being fair here. Even if you only pay around 40p an item, I feel i'm still being fair. I happen to live about 40 mins each way from my closest dealer and would have happily bought them online if it were cheaper than me driving that distance. I'm selling 15 on, not 1500...
  12. I'm back here with my second Corrado after being away with the fold for a few years! This time she is my project and toy car so daily duties won't be bestowed on her! There are probably a few people here that may remember me from my last appearance on these pages, I used to own this: I've since been away and had all sorts or exotica over the years but have now got married and settled down into a more civilised car and have decided to give myself a project that wasn't horrifically expensive to enjoy. I aimed to buy something that was tatty and needed some love and to rescue another from the scrappers. Where is the fun in having a perfect project! I found this lurking in a dark corner of the internet and it was in dire need of some love! A few Guinesses later and I had bought it unseen! Not big or clever, but it was saved from the scrapper as it looked like it was going there if it never sold. So a few hundred quid later, it was delivered by trailer to me looking like this! Dirty dirty dirty! It was sold as having no MOT or TAX with little history on 192k on a 92 'K' Plate. It has however had a £4k plus engine rebuild at Grant motorsports in 09, approx 30k back, so all good! I knew it had a few small dents in it and that the wheels need a refurb, but not a problem really. Hopefully, It'll be back on the road by the late summer. I've managed to get out and give it a damn good bottom up clean. I managed to write off 2 claybars in the process as it looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in many many years. I've also managed to get out and get some of the panels deswirled with the machine polisher so she is starting to return to good looks! Got a long way to go though! Plans for her? First off she needs to look good again, so a good tart up with the machine polisher should help there. Then there are a whole load of problems that need fixing, some small, others, not so! I also have one of these awaiting good weather to drop in! To sit on a nice clean, powdercoated subframe, cross member, front suspension etc! I spent nearly £70 on bolts alone at VW earlier just for the front end rebuild! List of things to sort: Replace front brakes Replace drivers mirror - old one ty-wrapped on! Get mirrors to work Replace drivers seat Source and fit radio Refit all loose inside trim Refit rear badge Replace door sill plastics CLEAN Interior Sort body work dents and lacquer peel Sunroof tilts but not slides Passenger door lock won't open from outside Replace ignition barrel Retumble all locks Source and fit Aerial Sort out steering wheel leather peel Wheels Lupo/TT Wipers Headlight Loom SWAP ENGINE - simply! Along with new subframe etc No doubt more to add!
  13. Thanks for the replies, I can't remember what the specific name for my old paint was, I'll remember later i'm sure! The engine has taken many hours of my time in the garage fettling it. It's had all new seals, gaskets, filters etc done over the last few weeks and has benefited from a bit of paint. It's waiting on the weather to improve so that I can drop it in on new subframes, cross members and suspension. I've just got back from spending near on £70 at the dealer on some new bolts for the rebuild! Just waiting on the wind to ease so that I can get on with it! Old Car build thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?40070-Sean-Jaymo-Grey-Scale!!-Pg8-Go-on-have-a-look!
  14. I have 15 of the badge clips for the rear badges spare sat around if anybody wants them. Genuine items, brand spanking new! You need 2 for the rear VW roundel and 3 for the Corrado script. First come first served; £3.00 for 2 £3.50 for 3 £4.50 for 5 All prices are delivered first class. Paypal or Bank transfer, either way, I'm happy! I'm In Lincolnshire if people want to collect and save them selves the cost of a stamp!
  15. Location, overnight storage and cost of parts all play their part in quotes. Your mk3 is easy to repair as there are literally hundreds of spare part suppliers where as a Corrado is a bit more difficult to get parts for. Don't forget, there were only about 9000 Corrados ever bought to the UK where as there are bound to be close to maybe 3 or 400000 Golf's being bought here, if not more. You buy a niche sports car, you get niche sports car treatment from insurers, parts suppliers and garages!
  16. So in the RAF, you'd be called a fairy then lol! Or Pinky as your flying lot call them :) I digress, nice car!
  17. Our Armourers (RAF) call themselves technicians. It's not accurate
  18. Massive respect for what you are doing with this car! Up until I found out you are an armourer! Tut tut

P6000's are on the whole, pretty rubbish in a car that is going to be driven. More designed to run forever on a normal commuting car in my experience of them. I always liked the ContiSport Contact 3's myself. A great all round tyre that is just as composed in the wet as it is in the dry. Think they are being replaced by the 5's though.
  20. That's not on really! I'm sure will loose some business now based on his attitude. I personally found his stuff over priced for what it is. I do like the backlit dials, but again, a touch pricey.
  21. I'm slowly getting over mine with a machine polisher and it reduces that random colour effect. I think it's just a trait of this particular colour on our cars. I know it's pearlescent, is that what can happen on this type of paint?
