Aye I knew that the injectors weren't working, I was just confirming that the injectors were stuck shut opposed to being stuck open. http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?205887-OEM-management-wiring-1-8T-gt-Mk2-harness-install-FAQ - It's for 1.8t lumps but they share the same ecu so you can take advise from that post when you are looking through wiring diagrams. Thanks for that picture but I have power through pin 62, I haven't seen anything about pin 21 before though! At least I do not remember seeing anything about it! ---------- Post added at 10:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:35 PM ---------- Oh and it's AUE, my bad! ---------- Post added at 10:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ---------- Having a very quick look through my AUE wiring diagrams shows no mention of T121/21

Further to this, I'm not getting the smell of fuel at all, plugs are dry, but I disconnected the fuel feed and it flows out when the engine is cranking.

I've got as far as getting the engine in and it cranks but refuses to fire. Scanned with vagcom and got this; 11 Faults Found: 18057 - Powertrain Data Bus P1649 - 35-00 - Missing Message from ABS Controller 17645 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 1 (N30) P1237 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17649 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 5 (N83) P1241 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17647 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 3 (N32) P1239 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17650 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 6 (N84) P1242 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17938 - Camshaft Timing Adjustment P1530 - 35-00 - Short to Ground 17648 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 4 (N33) P1240 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17923 - Intake Manifold Valve (N156) P1515 - 35-00 - Short to Ground 17646 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 2 (N31) P1238 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17530 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B2 S2 P1122 - 35-00 - Open Circuit 17526 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S2 P1118 - 35-00 - Open Circuit The lambda's weren't plugged in so not concerned too much about that. Is there a common earth in amongst that lot that i've simply missed? It's been wired up IAW the clubgti wiring guide. Is it the fuel pump relay giving me grief? I can physically feel it clunk over and latch on? I've not hacked into the engine loom itself so I would be surprised if it simply a plug i've missed?

More progress! I've got a pair of the plastic door handle clips so now I have a pair of working door handles! Simple things! Still need to replace the drivers striker pin but as it works at the moment, I'll focus on other parts for now! Lots of big bit syndrome going on at the moment! New clutch as I'm not sure on age of the last one, I think it's about 30k old but can not tell for sure so whilst it's in pieces, I'd be a fool to not put a new one in! And then gearbox on and slaved into bay! Really happy! Just need to trim the rear mount down , but I wanted to slave it in to finalise wiring routing and lengths first! -
Not super rare, but rare. Keep them!

Couple of questions from a former Corrado owner
Sean_Jaymo replied to 4eyes2wheels's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah you can cut them off, get them replaced at some point though. They help keep the discs dry when it's raining and helps with braking on say a wet motorway where the brakes are cool due to lack of use. You could otherwise try and bend the metal away from the discs. Rear bump stops aren't show stopping either, unless you run the car low. -
Looks great! Not feeling the amber indicators but everything else looks spot on!

I was lucky to be in a great place at the time financially. I have now got married and am saving for a house so no more Porsche for me for a while :( My wife does keep telling me she is better than an old Porsche anyway...! Another productive afternoon spent on the old girl, Changed the Ignition barrel, Ignition switch and partially fixed the passenger door which didn't open! Door now opens thanks to Daves16v kit but i'm missing a 25p clip which hold the handle in place! Typical! something else on the list! I've also managed to get my pedal box out - Fun! - and remove all of the old dodgy sub and amp wiring that was in gashly stuck in. I loved finding a battery positive thick gauge wire inches from a earth in the boot. Brilliant! So now all trim is kind of back in place. I just need to spend a few quid at vw buying a load of panel and trim clips. No pictures as it all looks the same! -

At the time, it was my only car and I was commuting 60 miles a day in it, I was ruining it and it was having a good go at my bank account! I'll have another, No issue! I was so glad to have experienced it. Best bit was that I was 26 at the time so no meno-porsche for me in my 40/50/60's! -

I was thinking of using plastidip on my ARB along with other things. Would anyone know how it would fair up or tried it themselves? ---------- Post added at 8:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 8:13 PM ---------- Cheers! I fix aircraft for a living so it's all fairly straight forward. It's only the electrical stuff that stretches me a bit. But, thats one of the reasons I went 24v, I wanted something that wasn't obvious and straight forward and stretched my comfort zone a bit. Porsche pics for you! -

Few weeks with no update, Things haven't progressed hugely fast due to the rubbish weather. I've made progress though so not all bad! Few pictures for those who like that kind of thing! I have removed and fitted a nice new cross member and radiator support panel with brand spanking new bushes and bolts along with refurbed and powder coated wishbones with OEM front bushes and TT rear bushes. Original subframe was in great condition (thanks to years of oil and gunk!) so was cleaned up and refitted. New steering rack bush with powder coated bracket fitted along with new track rods, steering bellows and track rod ends. The hub carriers have been powdercoated and new bearings pressed in and old hubs reused as they are spot on, if a little stained up and fitted to new ball joints. New bolts have been fitted throughout. I'm waiting on TPS for new splash shields, bolts and flywheel pressure bolts before I can carry on refitting the brakes. The loom has been modified to work on the 24v system but is only trial fitted into place until I know everything is working properly. I need to swap over my pedal box to one which has had the DBW pedal fitted into place, but i'm saving that little joy for later on in the week! Updates when they come! ---------- Post added at 7:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:29 PM ---------- I was thinking of using plastidip on my ARB along with other things. fitting inner tie rod VR6, really need to remove steering rack?
Sean_Jaymo replied to jonnykillpop's topic in Drivetrain
Do it in situ. Not the best access but get it up on axle stands, pop some man pills and swap it over. Not difficult just awkward. No need to remove rack or anything like that. -
Yeah it'll be fine. I take it you want to use one of those cross engine bay lifts?
-
That is what you call a "Placebo Valve" It works buy someone telling you it works, you believe them and then you give them money. Quite simple really!
-
Don't do it, they look terrible. I bought a new ignition switch from VW the other week for 24.95. About a tenner from VW heritage for a copy part. Part number is 6N0 905 865

Good luck mate, lot of car for the cash! Hopefully my 24v Will be in as good a condition!

Question is, can you do something similar for the later heater control as so many are broken?
